I know I am asking a lot so far in 3 different design categories, but I really do need the help and fresh ideas to get the ball rolling for my Beast Clan AU, Dragon Cat has been very helpful in ideas for fluff writing and that's been a big help, but the old fashioned nuts and bolts department also needs to be addressed, and this time around its fighter designs(PS would be extremely grateful for even at least a paragraph of fluff for each design submitted, hint the Beast Clan is very Warship, dropship and Fighter intensive, so if you know your WW II history in RL, think of designing for that type of combat specifically the Pacific War Theater.)
By 2820, the older equipment of the Beast Clan dating from the old and now gone forever Star League. Was beginning to become obsolete in the face of newer technologies the Three Families Research Fleet had been researching and now was into the prototype production development phase.
While the technology already fielded by the Beast Clan's primary battle force, the 12th TSSOG was still far in advance of anything the Realms fielded, that balance was slowly changing, much line it's predecessor the Beast Clan relies on Superior Tech and Equipment to offset the Realms greater numbers, but by direct intervention of the Founder, it was ordered that the new generations of equipment to be fielded be advanced enough to keep that edge, but also be practical enough to be viable war machine, and not the paper tigers fielded in the old days.
Faced with limited resources even with the settling of the small stellar cluster named the Ghost Cluster, the Beast Clan at this time does not have the personal or needed infrastructure to build single type specialty units, one of the breakthrough tech of the Three Families Research Fleet was the continued research of the Mercury class battlemech Modular Placement system(What the Beast Clan calls Inner Sphere Omni Technology), the Three Families managed to crack the final hurdles that would allow the system to be fitted to other combat platform.
with this the need for 4 designs for the future standard of production and deployment of the Clan's military is now being solicited by the Military Procurement Division.
Design 1. 25-35 tons, most be agile, decently armored and armed and be able to deploy in the traditional scout/harasser role.
Design 2. 40-55 tons, must be able to fulfill the traditional role of the workhorse of the military.
Design 3. 60-70 tons, will be the most common deployed striker type vehicle.
Design 4. 75-85 Tons, Will be the primary battlefield combatant.
1.Basically Omni Inner Sphere tech will be the centerpiece requirement.
2. Armor types is limited to either Standard or ferro, Since the Beast Clan specializes in Aerospace, Heavy Ferro is also available (bonus points for using Standard armor for the designs) this is to keep repair and replacement simplified.
3. The requirements for the engines are either regular or Light Fusion(another developed tech). XL is available, but deemed not needed at this time until further developments are advanced to reduce the XL's inhering vulnerability.
4. Tech available for the designs is Jihad era Inner Sphere, minus tech developed by Word Of Blake.

Like the idea, but the best I could offer as a possible is the following, will add the other modules later today along with base frame, have a Mothers Day Pancake Breakfast to go help out with right now.

My Entry for Category 1.
The Shrike is a entry from the Tempest Family Ghost Yard 12, normally tasked with the construction of spare equipment and repair and refit of damaged dropships, the Tempest Family decided to gamble on entering the competition for the new type fighters. What the Tempest Family did not have was experience with fighters, but they approached the problem in their usual way.
thru a combination of recruiting, bribery and out right kidnapping(the later case was resolved in a unique way, the kidnapped designer actually thought the female agent sent to capture him was quite attractive and ended up proposing to her and later where married.)
With their new design team gathered it was decided their fist design would imply the KISS approach. The decision was made that while the design must be fast for its intended role that it would need to be protected well enough to survive to fulfill that role.
Since the Module Pod space was limited to 6.5 tons, it was also decided to keep the three module load outs energy based in order to maximize their tonnage and at the same time keep the heat load under control enough with out extra heatsinks other than the original 10 DHS already built in.
The result is the Shrike Light Module Fighter, agile with a 10/15 speed, protected with 5 tons of the new Heavy Ferro Aluminum, and armed with a energy base weapons array that gives the fighter firepower that belies it size and es a deadly shock to its opponents, there is a fourth module in the works and will be submitted for review later, the last module will be a combination recon/electronic warfare craft.
