Many thanks to Dragon Cat for helping me with fluff for this ship, i had plans to start posting my AU files, but my partner seems to have gone on Sabbatical, so for now only have access to the Warships and Aerospace portions that was my part of the cake, as time allows hope to correct the land warfare portion, I should be thankfully I at least had the Unit organization charts, so dont be to surprised if I start posting design contests for Mech's, Vehicles and Battle Armor.
.
Any how presenting the Bahamut for Beast Clan AU.

==Overview:==
The Bahamut class Battleship was designed as a low cost altenative to the
lager and much more expensive Farragut MK II that the Main Battle Fleet of the
Beast Clan deploys. Designed from the onset to be a viable stand alone
design that could patrolthe far flung out posts of the Beast Clan's territory
known as the Ghost Cluster.
Low cost (for a Battleship) was the primary motivater for the Bahamut, with
the need to deploy indepent squadrons or light task forces. The Beast Clan
designed the ship with adequate cargo for a standard 4 month deployment which
could be stretched out to 6 months as needed.
Even with a emphasis for range, the designers of the Bahamut did not
sacrifice armor or weapons, the Founder of the Beast Clan had long ago
decreed, that the Battlefleet would no longer suffer the restrictions Egg
Shells armed with Sledge Hammers.
With this in mind the Bahamut is equipped to take a significant amount of
damage in combat with a stronger armour belt than any ship produced by the old
Star League and a very solid structural integrity created by a series of
seal-able chambers which allows the ship to take significant internal damage
and remain, at least partially, operational. With engines capable of
attaining 2.5G burns in combat the vessel is hardly a slouch the only thing
keeping this vessel off the front lines is the lack of a Lithium Fusion
Battery. An HPG array keeps this type of craft in touch with ground stations
and with its base of operations while on deployment, the HPG also allows
crewmen to contact loved ones while separated over the distances involved in a
patrol. To ease the stresses crewmen face on these long voyages every member
of the ships crew, air group and support staff have their own private rooms,
the vast majority of these on one of the vessel's eight gravity decks. While
the lowest ranks have only single rooms more senior members of the crew have
entire suites of rooms these are distributed throughout the gravity decks
meaning that should catastrophe hit one gravity deck and cause mass casualties
one particular department or area of the ship will not be hit the hardest.
During such deployments the ship is able to explore/picket several systems
with the six DropShips, twenty small craft and three fighter wings carried on
board. These collars and the ships carried can also be used to ferry supplies
between far flung bases. It is not unusual to see a Bahamut deployed to the
Beast Clan's outer reach colonies to be carrying six cargo DropShips as the
ship acts as a very expensive transport ship, its own DropShips previously
deployed along the way watching various systems for trouble.
Should the Bahamut find itself without its support DropShips the vessel's
commander should not become too worried however the vessel coming in at over
1.6 million tons can handle itself in most combat situations. With arrays of
class-25 Naval Autocannons, class 55 large calibre Naval Lasers, AR10
Maelstorm Multi-Purpose Launchers and Heavy Particle Cannons to dissuade all
but the best armed threats. Conventionally the ship has eighty Extended Range
Particle Cannons while over sixty anti-missile systems protect the ship. It
is not unusual for a Bahamut to carry several nuclear warheads, although these
are rarely the first warhead armed, these weapons provide a stand off
capability of anything anyone could through at one of these ships.
==Variants:==
A proposed Fleet Carrier version of the Bahamut is under consideration, but
considering the rapid expansion and emphasis on carrier production with in the
Beast Clan, this cannot be discounted.
==Notable Vessels & Crews:==
16 Bahamuts are projected, 1 currently active duty and 3 more under
construction.
The lead class ship Bahamut has been completed and undergoing trials with the
21st Strike Fleet.
Black Dragon, Pendragon and Tiamat are under various stages of construction,
strangley enough the Tiamat was the last ship to begin production yet at this
time the closest to completion.
