Owned and operated by the Bloom Amalgamated Services Corporation [BASC], Binkley's Magnum Opus is a heavily modified Triumph-class Dropship. No longer a heavy vehicle carrier, the Opus is more of a multi-mission capable craft. As BASC operates in the Rimward Periphery, it was deemed that it needed to be able to perform multiple tasks to include cargo delivery and limited combat operations. The large vehicle has been heavily modified and now has six 'Mech cubicles, four of which are drop-capable. and space for twelve light vehicles, most of which are tractor/trailers for cargo handling. Over 1400 tons of cargo can be carried in this bay. The old Light vehicle bay has been heavily modified to carry two small craft, the Rosebud and the Hodgepodge (http://www.ourbattletech.com/forum/aerotech/modified-triumph-imv-binkley's-magnum-opus/msg39271/#msg39271). The 'Mech cubicles are used by Trixie's Pixies, a mercenary command owned by BASC and is equipped with three Phoenix Hawk and a Assassin battlemech. All of the 'Mechs have been modified to some degree. The two remaining 'Mech cubicles belong to the two Copper security Mechs used to guard the vessel when it s grounded at a potentially hazardous spaceport.
The Major upgrade has been the addition of another engine to increase the amount of available thrust. This addition caused for a re-working of the ship's internal structure and an eventual increase in the ship's overall structural integrity. At it's most recent trip to a shipyard, all of the standard armor was replaced by ferro-aluminum armor. The forty-two tons of armor increased the overall armor protection by thirty percent. As for weapons, the firepower of the Opus is more than adequate to handle any combat from most pirate bands. With double the firepower of the original model, Captain Wendell Binkley has little to fear from pirates, though he may be hard pressed should encounter a more advanced force.
Other additions include a large medical bay, complete with a doctor, three nurses and four combat medics. The Opus also carries a small force of marines, who also double as stevedores. Six of those marines are battle armor certified. They have a total of ten suits to choose from, including a modified Kanazuchi, three modified Gray Death Standards (http://www.ourbattletech.com/forum/mechfactory/modified-kanazuchi-and-gray-death-suits/new/#new), three IS Standard, a Kage, a Theseus and an Asterion. The battle armor detachment is commanded by Gunnery Sergeant Saigon Johnny Cutter, a former AFFS trooper, who stands at more than two meters in height. Cutter uses the Kanazuchi, known as Deathtöngue, exclusively. There are four Swift Wind [ICE-Cargo] onboard that can be used to deploy the battle suit element during ground operations.
Binkley's Magnum Opus is transported by the IMV Waltzing Academy, a modified Invader-class Jumpship.

I like it Abele. Could be a real logistic asset to have this ship with you. I would have skipped the security 'Mechs for two aerospace fighters but hey it works. I like the story behind the craft.
Would like to hear where the modification took place. Was there a special tech team that carried it out? Or a shipyards some place? How long did it take? It could have been years in the making. Were the materials from a downed Leopard or other salvaged derelict? Whose vision was it? The Captain or some rich benefactor?
A lot of questions I know but I like the concept. Nice job ;)

The Rosebud is a modified NL-42 Battle Taxi that carries Gunnery Sergeant Cutter's battle armor troopers into battle, should it become necessary. Rosebud features the lion's share of BASC's advanced weaponry and features an ER PPC and four advanced medium lasers. It is protected by thirty tons of ferro-aluminum armor. While slower than the original model, it does have a bit more functionality and can be used as a cargo carrier in quieter times.

The Hodgepodge is a modified KR-61 long range shuttle. it has been lengthened by five meters while decre3asing its fuel capacity (down to twenty tons). It has the same basic characteristics of the smaller craft, but has increased cargo space (11 tons). This shuttle is also armed with a quartet of medium lasers, two each fore and aft.

The IMV Waltzing Academy is the only Jumpship owned by the Bloom Amalgamated Services Corporation [BASC] and carries the IMV Binkley's Magnum Opus and IMV Outland Voyager/ Captained by Steve Bloom and his nephew Milo Dallas, the ship has gone through several upgrades, the most recent of which was adding more armor to the ship's hull. Previous upgrades included the installation of a grav deck normally fitted on a Monolith and the removal of a damaged docking collar. The docking collar allowed for the addition of four fighter cubicles to the small craft bay. Four large lasers were added over the years as well as a comprehensive point defense array consisting of twenty-four small lasers.

The IMV Outland Voyager is a modified Union-class Dropship that has been optimized for cargo carrying. Armor has been maximized, while additional weapons have been added due to the fact that it operates in the pirate-laden rimward periphery. The fighter bays have been converted to small craft bays, while the 'Mech bays have been converted to six light vehicle bays and a cargo capacity of over 1150 tons. All six vehicle bays are devoted to tractor/trailers that can carry the standardized cargo containers that makeup the bulk of the cargo. The machineguns mounted in the aft arcs can also be used against ground targets when on hostile worlds. She is captained by Lorraine Harlow, who is engaged to Milo Dallas of the Waltzing Academy.

New Additions per request at CBT
The following two shuttles are carried aboard the IMV Outland Voyager.
The ISC Portnoy is a modified K1 DropShuttle that has been optimized for cargo hauling. To increase the cargo capacity, modifications were made to the engine bay that decreased thrust by one-third. Additional reductions in fuel supply and the removal of the missile and small laser allowed the cargo capacity to 44 tons (up from 16.5 tons). Given the decrease in speed, Captain Bloom thought it would be best to increase the armor protection by 33 percent with 27.5 tons of standard mow protecting the Portnoy.

The ISC Guillaume Le Chat (aka Bill for short) came about when Captain bloom' grandfather managed to salvage a severely damaged Tigress Gunboat in the New Vallis system. Initially, funds were lacking to bring her back to full working order. for many years she was a stripped hulk taking up space at the BASC Dockyards at New Vandenburg. With the end of the Jihad came many lucrative opportunities for BASC as the Concordat's infrastructure could not meet the demands and needs of her people. With the newfound largesse, BASC decided to bring the Tigress back to life. A multitude of new technologies were included in the Bill's reconstruction including ferro-aluminum armor and double sinks. The primary weapons were also of modern vintage as an ER PPC and an Artemis IV-equipped LRM-15 were mounted in the nose. The medium lasers are still of the standard variety, but Captain Bloom was not concerned by this as the Bill now mounts 18 tons of ferro-aluminum armor (an increase of over 50%). Crew living space are smaller than usual, but the Bill is not intended for long trips like the Portnoy or Hodgepodge.
Since the Bill has been in service it has suffered through a number of system failures ranging from simple electrical issues to complete engine failures and has spent more time in the repair than it has in active service. However, when she is running, she's a sight to behold and has been known to strike fear into pirates and the average citizen who sees it. She's painted to resemble a large orange tabby cat.
