Overview:
The Hyacinth Hawk was the most common conventional fighter in the Taurian Concordat.  Produced by Jamestown Aerospace at factories across the Concordat.  While some smaller competitors produced fighters for use by local militias, the Hyacinth Hawk was the only design that could be found across the entire Concordat.  With the TDF Navy and Aerospace arms responsible for securing air superiority, the Hyacinth Hawk was tasked with providing the ground forces with close air support.

Capabilities:
The Hyacinth Hawk was, as with most conventional fighters, a fragile design.  Slow compared to comparably sized aerospace fighters, the design also had weak armor, making it very vulnerable to enemy fire. Despite this the Hyacinth Hawk was known as a rugged design.  Realizing that air bases would be the first target in an invasion, the Hyacinth Hawk was designed to operate from improvised air fields. VSTOL equipment removed the need for long runways and the plane was designed to be able to operate with out any requiring any specialized equipment.  The plane even includes a retractable ladder for the pilot to climb in and out of the cockpit.

Equipped with both long range and short range missile launchers, the Hyacinth Hawk often used special munitions.  It was not uncommon for the SRM launchers to carry a mix of armor piercing and inferno rounds, while the LRM launchers would carry either armor piercing, flare or fragmentation rounds depending on the mission.

Deployment:
The Hyacinth Hawk was deployed in large numbers across the Concordat. During the Reunification War, they proved to be a huge hindrance to the SLDF.  Operating from hidden airfields and improvised strips they posed a threat to the SLDF even after planets had been officially pacified.  The design has effectively become extinct since the end of the Reunification War.  Most of the Hyacinth Hawks were destroyed, as were all of the factories that produced the design. The Bat Hawk has since replaced the Hyacinth Hawk in service with the TDF and the remaining Bat Hawks have been relegated to museums or scrap yards.
