I prefer to group ships with the same speed profile together: So...
For a traditional squadron(3 ships) I'd go with a Richelieu, and two Republic frigates.
For a dual squadron(6 ships) I'd go with a Richelieu, two Republics, two Dewey Destroyers and either a Genesis Corvette or a Samarkand Carrier.
The Samarkand(from TRO: 3075), though a Combine design was also used by the SLDF. The Republic, the Dewey and the Samarkand are all from Fanbook 05 TRO: 2800.
