Dropship flotilla mothership - help?

OK, here is the deal....  I'm considering a mothership/baseship concept for dropships.  Basically something to help you project some space superiority without committing real warships.

I figure it'd probaly need to be a compact core design that puts most ofo the weight savings into stuff like a good cargo fraction to keep the DS's supplied, enough bunks to perhaps house some/most of the DS's crews, etc....

It is vague I know but I'm so outta touch right now with aerospace rules and such that I'm appealing for help :)

If you are going compact you might as well use a full warship since the savings will be insignificant between a battleship and a tender.

A good DS baseship would a large JS like the Monolith with a few improvements like more G-deck facilities, improved armaments and armor. Add a Mule or two to hold supplies, a CV and a DS flotilla. If you intend to use it in more active operations you probably want a LFB like my Megalith design on this forum.

You could use the reinforced repair bay. One DC sacrificed will net you 50000 ton of bay capacity, good way to lift small droppers.

Page 334 in TO.

Reinforced repair bays take 1 DC space / 50000 ton capacity.
Max number of bays on a JS or WS is 1.
It can hold a maximum of 2 DS and any number of satelites, SC or ASF. ( missed the 2 DS reg, it was hidden in standard bay rules - sorry )
The ship is able to do more than stationkeeping maneuvers with ships docked, the docked units mass counts as under the tug regs.
Must be assigned a facing and a minimum of one door, a repair bay is hit on weapons critical hits 50% of the original damage distributed evenly among the units in the bay.
Masses 10% of it's own holding capacity.
Are considered experimental tech, developed in 2750 by the TH and revived in 3065 by WOB.
Costs 30000 / ton of bay.
