Fleet Composition
Long (very :'( ) Long Ago, in this Galaxy, when I first got my 2750 book, I looked through it and there were 3 ships I really wanted. I formed my unit based on these 3 ship types. When I first found the IWM minis I began collecting but never quite got all the ones I wanted. UNTIL YESTERSDAY!!! :) I finally got the last member of my original group;
1) 1x Texas Class Battleship (flagship – of-course – first one I got)
2) 3x Lola Class destroyers (escorts – just love the 4 massive engines)
3) 1x Potemkin Class Troop Cruiser (Just fantastic stats – 25 docking rings! – and the original bow is just cool). Finally!
I have others I got in trades but weren’t part of my original fleet.

Nice little fleet plenty range

I never managed to understand how I should group Warships.
-
The Star League Field Manual has lots of WarShip layouts in it
IIRC they had so many ships essentially they had groups of Battleships together (several McKennas together is a thought), groups of destroyers, cruisers just because they could essentially the idea being an enemy can't cut them all down
if you're limited in numbers I'd say a main ship example a Battleship with several escort ships immediately nearby and then DropShips and fighter further out. If you have a single WarShip then your surrounding in DropShips that can help defend it then fighters that can.

hmm. I didn't think of them when I was making my TO&Es; ( https://www.ourbattletech.com/forum/index.php?topic=3228.msg41394#msg41394 )
In BT terms, I'm an old-timer and don't consider warships as a normal unit, it's something special that - if it shows up - EVERYBODY runs! Even the Clans (basically mobile bases for them) - So I didn't consider them having regular TO&Es but in the SL era they would have.

That's something I've been trying to get but haven't been able to yet.

I was just thinking in terms of RL ( https://www.ourbattletech.com/forum/index.php?topic=3225.msg41436#msg41436 ) Leviathan has ships grouped into 'Battle Squadrons' which (usually) contain 1 Battleship (as the centerpiece), 2 Cruisers (which both serve as heavy escorts and light Proxies in lesser situations where a ship is needed but not a Battleship), a Frigate (Larger that a DD in RL - as an escort leader - think British DDL), and 3-5 Destroyers as light escorts. They have carriers but they come in all sizes (according to the design rules and background fluff but they only published 1 BBCV and 1 FFCV for each side and no CACVs at all - several DDCVs though. Like BT almost all ships carried some fighters though.) They do mention in the fluff about Battlelines (which I take to be groups of Battle Squadrons with the BBs acting together and pooling their escorts - more like WWII than WWI) and Cruiser squadrons (which I believe are the same as Battle Squadrons but with 3-4 CAs instead of 1 BB & 2 CAs)

Here is my current complete list of ships.
Texas BB 1
Monsoon BB 1
Potempkin TC 1
Winchester CA 1
Dart CL 1
Lola DD 3
Carson DD 1
Tatsu Maki DD 1
Pinto Cvt 1
Invader JS 4
plus lots of DS and micro-Fighters (and a couple for trade)
Bastion SS 1
Wagon Wheel FF 1
I was going to put this into a table but the table doesn't work at all - and the 'help' is completely worthless, nonsensical and irrelevant.
I even copy/pasted an example it gave me ... which shows up like this:
{| class="wikitable"
style="color:green; background-color:#ffffcc;"
cellpadding="10"
|Orange
|Apple
|-
|Bread
|Pie
|-
|Butter
|Ice cream
|}
not at all what the 'help' page claims it will show up like. worthless so-called "help".
