Forge-class Repair Station (By The Horns)

The Forge-class Station was a modular semi-mobile Space Station designed and deployed by the Taurian Concordat Navy in the decades leading up to the Reunification War.  Intended to provide repairs to TCN Fleet units deployed far from more traditional shipyards, the Forge-class consisted of six modules, each of which was outfitted with a K/F Boom allowing for transportation via JumpShip.  Once on site, the station could be assembled in a matter of weeks and resume operations within a month of deployment.

It is believed that the Forge-class went extinct following the Reunification War as all remaining examples in operation were scrapped by the Star League.  However, in 3026 one example was discovered by a Far Looker JumpShip and was returned to the Taurian Concordat where it aided in restoring and enhancing the Taurian ability to maintain and produce JumpShips and DropShips.

Overall, the assembled station masses 510,000 tons and includes six factory units that can produce virtually any electronic or mechanical part in use aboard DropShips, JumpShips, and WarShips.  Each factory unit masses 1,700 tons, giving the Forge-class the same manufacturing capability as six Medium/Large Orbital Factories.

In addition to the factory units, 24 small craft are embarked and there are six docking collars for DropShips.  Eighty Industrial 'Mechs come standard as well, aiding in repair and construction efforts.

The primary components of the Forge-class, however, are the six Pressurized Repair Facilities.  Four of these facilities are designed to service DropShips and can accommodate DropShips massing up to 50,000 tons without problems.  The fifth Repair Facility is larger and designed for JumpShips.  It can conduct repairs on any tonnage of DropShip or on JumpShips (or WarShips) massing no more than 300,000 tons.  The final Repair Facility was designed with WarShips as the primary users.  This facility can service vessels (DropShips, JumpShips, or WarShips) massing up to 650,000 tons.

While the Forge-class is primarily a repair facility, it has a limited capacity to assemble (not produce, but assemble!) new construction.  DropShips can be built on site with few difficulties, but the Forge-class cannot produce K/F Drive Cores (either Standard or Compact) for JumpShips and WarShips.  However, if the K/F Drive Core is provided, a Forge-class is capable of assembling a JumpShip or WarShip (although the Factory Units cannot manufacture any capital scale weapons that exceed 200 tons; any larger system must be imported).

Currently, only one known example of the Forge-class is known to exist and it is assigned to a geo-synchronous orbit over Taurus itself.

Really, as long as there is an unbroken line of people calling themselves "Clan Nova Cat," it doesn't really matter to me if they're still using Iron Wombs or not. They may be dead as a faction, but as a people they still exist. It's not uncommon in the real world, after all.
