===Overview===
An update of the Canopian's Diana-class of assault ships, the Diana-II never actually left the drawing board. Intended as a raiding/recon light carrier Admirals felt it was still too large and too expensive, particularly for a role that seemed to be vanishing. The Diana-II was discontinued but the hull design inspired the Diana-III 'fast cruiser' dropship and the Nike assault carrier dropship.
===Capabilities===
The Diana-II uses a smaller hull than its predecessor and sported lighter armament and a smaller flight deck. In compensation, the point defense was improved, albeith with some blind spots remaining. It remains faster than anything that could seriously threaten it but the small flight complement was heavily criticised and the overwhelming realisation was that the increased focused on orbital defense meant that a single wing would not be enough to overcome local defenses for likely targets.
