==Overview==
The thus far ultimate evolution of the Diana has traded off all pretense at being a carrier in favour of further augmenting the engines and armour.

==Capabilities==
Second only to the ancient Achilles dropships in acceleration among dropships, the Diana-III can manage a punishing 5.5 gravities of acceleration, more than most medium aerospace fighters. It also adds missile defenses in every aspect and carries an unparalleled mass of armour wrapped around its hull.

Although the Diana-III is described as a raider, well able to clear a jump point of commercial and light military traffic before departing, it is likely also to be deployed as an escort to share its missile defense with a larger task force. Aggressive anti-fighter tactics are also a possibility.

The first two Diana-III were laid down in the second half of 3025 and have yet to be completed.

The price always kills my large aerodyne dropship ideas like this.

I justify that with the thought that it remains far cheaper and much faster to build than warships ten times the size. Not as much firepower, admittedly, but with this sort of armour it can handle corvettes in any extended fight.

Plus, if you're already messing about with production levels (which I seem to recall drakensis mentioning) price really isn't the issues which keeps army sizes small. Price really shouldn't be a factor in many cases.

The particular game I'm in has house-ruled down the multipliers for prices on dropships to something more in line with the multiplers for other aerotech units such as warships and spacestations.
