==Overview:==

As soon as New Vandenberg and seventeen other Periphery worlds revolted in
2765 against stiff Star League taxes, unstable First Lord Richard Cameron
embarked on construction of a Battlestation class warship named the Phoenix.
Despite the assassination of Lord Cameron in 2766 by Stefan Amaris and the
chaos that ensued, the Phoenix was completed in 2775. The design and
construction utilized vast Star League resources along with the most
sophisticated warship construction techniques and equipment at an undisclosed
location.

The primary purpose of the Phoenix class warship design was to provide First
Lord Richard Cameron a means to survive the collapse of the Star League and as
a centerpiece for its rebirth. The First Lord's quarters are so elaborate,
that combined with holographic technology, one almost forgets they are on a
spacecraft. Besides the usual security on the Flagship of the Star League,
there are a minimium of four royal guards accompanying the First Lord at all
times. And there is the fearsome reputation of the Battlestation which is well
deserved since the design possesses the firepower of a small fleet.

The first and only Battlestation class warship was named after a legendary
Terran bird Phoenix which is said to live 500 years, die in a fiery blaze,
only to again rise from its ashes to live as an emblem of immortality. The
Phoenix is a spherically designed warship that is vaguely similar to a super
sized Union Dropship. The exterior of the station is heavily armored and the
interior is heavily reinforced and sectionalized which makes boarding actions
difficult especially with large equipment or weapons (including Clan
Elementals).

One of the most unusual aspects of the Phoenix is its advanced jump drive
which reportedly allows the Battlestation to stay in jump space for an
extended period of time although the effects of doing so are unknown. Some
have speculated that this ability to stay in jump space was used by members of
the Star League army when they seized the Phoenix just shortly before General
Kerensky could depart with it on his exodus in 2784. The Phoenix is an
engineering marvel and represents the pinnacle of Star League aerospace
technology.

A classic example of min/maxing. Truly uninspired.

What is your definition of "min/maxing" and how exactly does this design fit that definition?

2.5 MT, obscene amounts of top grade armour, ton of marines and masses of energy weapons in large bays with the heat sinks to fire them continuously.

That is min/maxing.

If your aim was to design an "ultimate battleship" your heading in the right direction, but if you want to use it in a game, it would be very boring.

You know there is something wrong with the FWL, when Word's spell check changes Impavido to Impetigo and Zechetinu to Secretion.

So basically large warship designs with a lot of armor and the ability to fire a lot of weapons is "min-maxing." Incidentally, your defintion would apply to canon designs like the Leviathan II, for example. And I won't straw man your definition with things like implying that a 2.5 million ton ship is out of line but something along the lines of a 2.4 million ton warship is somehow O.K., that a design without energy weapons couldn't "min-max," etc

The fact you included the Marine part in your critique shows me you haven't read the boarding rules in Strategic Operations; if you had, you'd realize that boarding actions are pretty futile, especially against larger military warships even without any Marines. It also shows me that you have a bias against certain designs...

In closing, if a scenario is boring, it isn't the fault of any particular unit used but with the person who came up with the scenario.

News Flash:  the Leviathan II IS considered by most to be a min-max, boring-as-hell, munchkin design.
