Quicksilver Program #22: 55 ton Clan Omnifighter

We rapidly move up tonnage from light weight fighters to the heavier side of the middle weights looking for a formidable 55 ton frame. Unfortunately it does not look like we have much to choose from except for the Tyre. This second line Clan fighter was originally made by the Steel Vipers who now (3052) are the only Clan to still build it. The Tyre is equipped with a standard 165 Fusion Engine (5/8), standard armor plating (120 factor), and 27.5 tons of weaponry on board. Sixteen Double Heat Sinks (32) keep the design heat neutral while it also carries a 5 ton fuel tank. With Steel Viper out of the running for new aerospace designs that really takes out ease of manufacturing.

Other than the Tyre I am drawing a blank. I really can not think of any 55 ton fighter craft that was developed by the Star League previously. The Phoenix Hawk LAM is the closest thing for me and talk about out of the box on developing. We could jump into the far future (3085) and steal the Wusun but that is more of an Outworld development than a Snow Raven from the fluff. I do have to say it looks pretty good with a 330XL Engine (8/12), 11.5 tons of ferro aluminum (220 factor), along with 24 tons of pod space for weapons and equipment. So unless you guys can really demonstrate an existing frame in existence I will not deduct points this time around for rapid production. 

The competitors remain unchanged for this contest as the Cloud Cobras should add at least one more OmniFighter to their industry, perhaps two. Snow Raven would max out here if they won with a Wusun type entry. Even though the Goliath Scorpions won the first competition they could add another. Let us not forget Coyote, Diamond Shark, Fire Mandrill, Hell’s Horses, Ice Hellion and Nova Cat who as of yet have no such craft in production. I am still saving some (Blood Spirit, Ghost Bear, Steel Viper, Star Adder, or Wolf) for future projects. Others like Burrock, Jade Falcon, and Smoke Jaguar have reached the peak of their industrial commitments.

Please do not forget the alteration made to Clan Omnifighter Naming Conventions. While over half (7) of the original Clan Omnifighters featured in Technical Readout 3055 do ascribe to the Warrior Tribe designation there are five (5) that are named in honor of Khans/Generals of Antiquity (Batu, Sulla, Jagatai, Sabutai, Jengiz). So I have added them as possible inspiration for eligible fighter entries. Of course the winning design will be featured in Technical Readout 3054: Quicksilver Trails along side other winners. I have a Wusun-type entry, but I am not going to use because it would be too close to being the Wusun (Same speed, but slightly less pod space). I am going with something else entirely.

==Overview:==

As part of a larger top secret project Chief Scientist Gavin [Tupolev] of Clan Coyote began his work on a
new OmniFighter in the late 3040s. It was part of a triumvirate of fifty-five ton warmachines based on the
brand new XL275 fusion engine which was entering final testing when he began his project. Project Pariah
was to be a new OmniMech loosely based on the Stormcrow, while Project Manitou was to be an OmniVehicle.
Until the new fusion powerplant went into production, XL220 engines salvaged from Bashkir fighters
and purchased from the Snow Raven Clan were used as temporary engines for prototype testing.

Gavin originally thought to base his project on the Tyre second-line fighter, but his Clan's warriors
were unsuccessful in obtaining the schematics by normal means. Being desperate for a platform to base
his design, he used the Scientist caste's network to obtain a design that suited, while trading away the
initial research to his Clan's new missile system that was still under development. Clan Goliath Scorpion
had just what he needed in its Temple of Nine Muses. The HCT-213B Hellcat II would suit his needs quite
nicely. With a slight redesign to the central fuselage, which narrowed slightly while lengthening it fore and
aft so that bigger weapons could be carried along the centreline.

With the modifications in place, initial fight test with the less powerful XL220 engine allowed the Arapaho
to keep pace with the Ammon that the Coyotes produced at their Tamaron Orbital facility. As the Arapaho
project entered it weapons testing phase in 3051 a couple of the new XL275 engines were made available to
Gavin and his team. With a proper engine in place final decisions were made on armor placement and fuel allocation.
Ten tons of Formula Z5D was added to the Arapaho's frame and total of five tons of fuel was added as well.

Flight tests with the new engines showed that the ]Arapaho was superior to the larger Ammon and Kirghiz
in the Clan's touman, but was stiill less maneuverable than the Avar or Charonea that the coyote's produced.
The Arapaho was now capable of mainitaining over 5Gs in level flight, which was sufficient to the Clan's needs.

When IlKhan Kerensky announced his Quicksilver Program, Gavin and his team went into a frenzy coming up with more 
alternate configurations than the five originally envisioned. A total of eleven configurations was the result of their frenzied
efforts. There could have been more were the new missile system were further along in its development.


==Capabilities==

The primary purpose of the Arapaho is to bridge the gap in the Coyote touman between the Avar and the
Kirghiz. As for its mission it is intended as a strike aircraft against enemy DropShips and ground forces. Three of
the configurations below are meant to act as escorts for Coyote DropShip assaults as well as close air support against
dezgra enemies.

During the process thought was given to using the larger XL330 fusion plant found in the Stormcrow OmniMech,
but after review battleroms from the battles at Luthien and Tukayyid the decision was made to stick the XL275 and the
heavier amount of available pod space.

With twenty-seven tons of pod space available, nearly half the Arapaho's mass can be dedicated to offensive
weaponry. There are a total of eleven configuration for the Arapaho, nine of which are dedicated strike platforms,
while two, Theta and Iota, are designated as long range reconnaissance platform with double the fuel capacity of the
standard Arapaho.


==Configurations:==

The Prime configuration owes its existence to the Tyre with its Class 10 Ultra autocannon, which comes with three
tons of ammunition. Backing up the autocannon are four medium pulse lasers mounted in the nose as well as a pair of
extneded range medium lasers mounted alongside the autocannon in the nose. Another medium laser is mounted to
cover the aft arc of the fighter. Four double heatsinks are added to deal with the access heat buildup.

The Arapaho Alpha is designed to fill the ground support role and is fitted with a variety of pulse and extended range
lasers, In the nose a large pulser is matched with a pair of medium pulsers. An extended range large laser is mounted
in each wing, while a medium laser is mounted to cover the aft arc. A total of nine extra heatsinks are added to deal with
the tremendous amount heat built up by the lasers.

The Beta has heavy hitting capability with a pair of extended range PPCs mounted in the nose. A six-tube Streak SRM
launcher is mounted in each wing each with a ton of ammunition. A medium pulser is mounted aft. Six extra double heatsinks
are mounted for better heat dissipation.

The Gamma configuration features the most powerful weapon available to the Clans, the Gauss Rifle. It comes with three
tons of ammunition. Two extended range medium lasers are paired with the Gauss Rifle in the nose, with another medium
laser mounted to the rear. An Artemis IV-equipped ten-tube LRM launcher is mounted in each wing with three tons of ammunition
for each launcher. This is alng-ranged strike aircraft capable of engaging extreme ranges as it closes with its target.

The Arapaho Delta is another long-range support platform which features Artemis IV-equipped twenty-tube LRM launchers
as its primary weapons. Each launcher is mounted in the wings and has a total of four tons of ammunition. To back up the LRMs, three extended range lasers are mounted in the nose, one large and two mediums. To back the rear arc twin small pulse lasers are mounted. Four extra double heat sinks are added as well.

In the Epsilon, the Coyotes have created a vanguard aircraft. It is intended to lead a strike or act as an escort. To achieve this, an ECM suite is mounted in the nose. Offensive weapons are anchored by a Class 10 LB-X autocannon with three tons of ammunition. A pair of small pulsers are mounted in the nose with the autocannon. Two medium pulsers are mounted in each wing with a pair extended medium lasers mounted in the rear arc. Two additional heatsinks have also been added.

The Zeta variant is armed a Class 20 LB-X autocannon along with its four tons of ammunition carried in the nose. In each wing an extended range large laser to give cover fire to the short ranged autocannon. To cover the rear a medium pulser is mounted. Two extra heat sinks have been added as well. The Eta is a version of the Zeta which replaces the LB-X autocannon with an Ultra version. Replace the large lasers in the wing are a pair of medium pulsers in each wing. The aft-mounted medium pulser has been replaced by an extended range laser. Three extra heatsinks are mounted on the Zeta.

The next two configurations, Theta and Iota, are the long range reconaissance odels mentioned earlier. Each variant carries ten tons of fuel for the long range missions that it is designed for. On the Theta, and extended range PPC shares the nose with an Active Probe and an ECM suite, while on the Iota the PPC has been replaced with a large pulser. Both configurations have two medium lasers mounted in each wing, one of each variety. A total of eighteen double heats are carried as well.

The final configuration of the Arapaho is the Kappa and it can be loosely called a missile boat. It comes with a trio of Artemis-IV equipped fifteen-tube LRM launchers, one in the nose and in each wing. A total of six tons keeps the launchers fed with ammunition. A total of four extended range medium lasers, two in the nose and one each wing. An extended range small alser is mounted in the rear arc. Fifteen double heat sinks do an adequate job of keeping the Kappa cool.

With the Coyotes entering the fray I just wanted to throw out some aerospace name concepts. American Indian Tribes especially of the Southwest make a great deal of sense for the Coyotes given their mystical roots

I was envisioning an Egyptian theme for the Cloud Cobras given their name and feel with tribes like the Berbers, Hyksos, Nubians, Bedouin, etc. Or going with the famous leader theme you could go Ramses...

What do you guys think? Any other Clan aerospace theme suggestions??

ZULU



Overview

Although it was introduced to the Clans in late 3052 as part of Project Quicksilver, the Snow Raven designed Zulu OmniFighter was the result of a development program first begun in September of 3050.  Based not upon an existing Clan or Star League Defense Force aeroframe, the Zulu was the result of the capture of six test platforms for the SF-1X Starfire Aerospace Fighter during Wave I of Operation Revival.

In 3049, Hanse Davion received a request from Katrina Steiner to allow Lyran forces to conduct tests on the Starfire; this new 55-ton Aerospace Fighter had been restricted to use by the NAIS Cadet Cadres.  However, internal discontent within the LCAF over the fears that the Federated Suns was keeping newly recovered 'lost technology' for themselves had forced Archon Steiner into making this request.

Archon Steiner made clear that the decision was entirely up to Prince Davion; she did note, however, that the acceleration profile of the new AFFS fighter would fill some gaps in the LCAF's fighter force . . . and that perhaps more testing by pilots outside the NAIS would accelerate development and eventual production.

As a token gesture, Prince Davion released six Starfires to the LCAF, where they were assigned to the elite 17th Skye Rangers on Barcelona.  Ambiguous over the new (and unproven) air-frames, the Rangers nonetheless put the Starfires into service.  Reports indicate that while the armament package proved to be a disappointment, the Ranger Pilots were impressed with the thrust and handling . . . both of which were a vast improvement over the LCAF Lucifer.

Unfortunately, Barcelona was a target of Clan Jade Falcon in Wave I of the Clan Invasion in early 3050.  The Starfire test squadron was caught unawares by an Elemental para-drop and all six air-frames were captured intact, taking no part in the defense (and fall) of Barcelona.

After an intensive survey and several test flights, the Falcons were not impressed by the heretofore unseen and unfamiliar Aerospace Fighter.  It was at that point that a Snow Raven liaison officer (Star Captain Terrance N'Buta, an abtakha originally from Clan Star Adder) called for a Trial of Possession for the six fighters.

Showing their disdain for the captured Inner Sphere fighter craft, the Falcons defended with a Solahma Pilot flying a second-line Ammon against N'Buta in his Visigoth.  The Snow Raven won the fight and his Clan took possession of the Starfires.

Arriving back in the homeworlds in September of 3050, Raven Scientists and Technicians examined the air-frame, engines, electronics, components, and weapons.  Although it was a poor fighter (in the opinion of Raven Pilots), the basic design was sound and the air-frame itself was surprisingly agile.  Khan Lynn McKenna ordered the Scientists to develop the air-frame into a new OmniFighter (as the Starfire had originally been designed to accept semi-modular weapon pods as a test-bed for various armament packages).

Design and development proceeded over the next two years until Project Quicksilver was announced.  Having already produced twenty prototypes which were undergoing testing, Khan McKenna is said to have laughed when the ilKhan announced a competition for a new 55-ton OmniFighter design.  The Ravens submitted the Zulu to the ilKhan the following day, much to Ulric Kerensky's surprise.

Capabilities

Massing 55 tons, the Zulu incorporates tried and tested components in a brand-new airframe based on the Inner Sphere Starfire Aerospace Fighter.  Designated as the MXA-22C-OF, the space-worthiness, ample internal volume, and agility of the original Starfire frame so impressed the Raven Scientists studying their captured examples that they created a version able to use existing Clan Omni-Pods.

Determined to keep the project 'in-house' for as long as possible, the Ravens decided to use their existing 330 Extra Light fusion engine (modified for use as an aerospace drive) from their existing Stormcrow production facility.  This 12.5 ton engine would easily fit within the engine housing of the new fighter, replacing the existing 15.5-ton standard fusion drive (rated at 275) of the Starfire.  Although the frame did require some internal reinforcement to handle the increased maximum acceleration, this was a relatively simple matter as the frame was being duplicated with more advanced Clan materials anyway.

The communications system and targeting & tracking array installed were standard Raven components taken from the Issus production line.  The SR Comm 7 was a reliable and rugged piece of equipment, while the Type 11D T&TA was modern with full up-dates for all current generation Clan weapons.

The Scientists retained the existing five tons of fuel tankage and all eleven of the internal hardpoints for carried ordnance, drop-tanks, and sensor pods.

The Raven Comp B ferro-aluminum armor from the Issus was also adapted, but rather than the 5.0 tons carried by that second-line Aerospace Fighter, the new Zulu would use a slightly modified formula (Raven Comp B2A) and mount twelve and one-half tons! This level of protection (with an armor rating of 240 it would higher than any existing Clan OmniFighter except the heavy-weight Jengiz, Scytha, and Kirghiz) would transform the design into a rugged craft able to sustain damage that would send other fighters into a death spiral.  Able to resist penetration by Clan ER Medium Lasers and Medium Pulse Lasers across the nose and wings (and ER Small Lasers astern!), the Zulu would provide Raven Pilots with greater protection than any known medium-weight design . . . in Clan space OR the Inner Sphere.

Ten double-strength heat sinks were banked in the engine core, leaving the Zulu with twenty-two tons of pod-space for weapons and equipment.  An amount that Khan McKenna found to be entirely reasonable given the acceleration and protection of the new OmniFighter.

Configurations

The Zulu Prime is a lethal and highly accurate OmniFighter.  The main weapon is a Large Pulse Laser mounted in the nose.  Six Medium Pulse Lasers (mounted two each in the right wing, left wing, and aft) act as secondary weapons at closer ranges, while an ECM Suite provides electronic jamming of hostile systems for the Pilot and his Star-mates.  Thirteen double-strength heat sinks allow this configuration to remain heat neutral when using all five forward mounted weapons.

Configuration A is also fitted with thirteen DHS.  However, the main gun for the Zulu A is a massive LB-20X autocannon with three tons of ammunition (15 bursts).  Typically, Raven Techs will load a mixture of slug and cluster ammunition types, allowing the Pilot to decide which best meets his tactical situation.  Four ER Medium Lasers (mounted two each in the right wing and left wing) are the only secondary weapons.  Much like the Prime, the Zulu A remains heat-neutral on a full Alpha-Strike.

Configuration B is armed with three Streak SRM-6 launchers (one each in the nose, right wing, and left wing, fed by three tons of ammunition for 45 total salvoes).  Eight ER Lasers back up the Streak systems:  two ER Medium Lasers (mounted in the nose) and six ER Small Lasers (two each in the right wing, left wing, and aft).  Fifteen DHS provides enough cooling for the Pilot to engage a target with all forward-mounted weaponry without overheating.  Since the Quicksilver Trials have begun, observers have noted that when the Streaks fail to lock on target, the Zulu B is over-sinked and have requested the substitution of at least one DHS for additional weapons.

Configuration C is intended for fast-strike missions.  The only forward armament consists of twin ER PPCs mounted in the nose.  Fifteen DHS allows for the constant use of these weapons, which are tied into a three-ton Targeting Computer for more accurate fire.  The only secondary weapons are two ER Medium Lasers positioned to fire astern to cover the Pilot's six on strikes against hardened targets.  Raven Pilots have christened the Zulu C as a 'DropShip buster' for its concentrated forward firepower.

Intended for use in the space superiority and dog-fighting role, the Zulu D provides perhaps the highest possible amount of damage potential in any of the existing configurations.  Twelve Extended-Range Lasers are mounted, tied into a two-ton Targeting Computer, and cooled by twenty-one double-strength heat sinks!  The nose and both wings carry an identical battery of twin ER Medium Lasers and twin ER Small Lasers . . . six each in total.  And the OmniFighter has the cooling capacity to fire them all constantly without any overheat worries.

Configuration E provides long-range missile support.  The main gun is comprised of two LRM-20 missile launchers outfitted with Artemis IV and fed by four tons of ammunition (24 total missile flights).  Three Medium Pulse Lasers (two in the nose, one firing astern) are the secondary guns.  Although only carrying the base ten DHS, the Zulu E is as cool-running as the other known configurations.

Finally, Configuration F is intended for high-risk recon flights.  Incorporating an Active Probe in the nose, the Zulu F is armed with three ER Large Lasers (nose, right wing, and left wing) with eighteen DHS allowing for the fighter to remain heat neutral on a forward-arc Alpha Strike.  A single ER Medium Laser is mounted aft to cover the rear arc of the fighter and discourage lighter aerospace craft from pursuing too closely.  Interestingly, the Zulu F has shown in the Quicksilver Trials to also excel in the anti-recon role.  The Active Probe allows the Pilot to identify and target hostile ASF or OmniFighters at extreme ranges, while the triple ER Large Lasers are hard-hitting and possess the longest engagement range of any Clan weapon system currently in service.

Deployment

With its relatively high thrust (4-g's safe and 6-g's maximum), the Zulu serves as an intermediary design between the light-weight Batu and Sulla and medium-weight Turk and Visigoth in terms of thrust profile and agility.  Well able to serve in a variety of mission roles, this new Snow Raven OmniFighter promises to fill a much-needed niche in the Clan Toumans.  The unprecedented levels of armor protection (for a medium-weight fighter design) also has the potential to keep Raven Pilots relatively safe from injury or death, a fact which has endeared the design to some and is considered cowardly by others.

Still, the overall performance Zulu has turned the heads of nearly all Khans observing the Quicksilver Trials.  Khan N'Buta of Clan Star Adder has already announced that if the Zulu wins the competition he will be seeking to add the fighter to his Touman, as have the Khans of the Cloud Cobras, Diamond Sharks, Ghost Bears, Hell's Horses, Ice Hellions, Jade Falcons, Nova Cats, Steel Vipers, and Wolves.

And Khan McKenna continues to laugh as she watches.

With the Coyotes entering the fray I just wanted to throw out some aerospace name concepts. American Indian Tribes especially of the Southwest make a great deal of sense for the Coyotes given their mystical roots

I was envisioning an Egyptian theme for the Cloud Cobras given their name and feel with tribes like the Berbers, Hyksos, Nubians, Bedouin, etc. Or going with the famous leader theme you could go Ramses...

What do you guys think? Any other Clan aerospace theme suggestions??

Well, considering the Adders have a Khan named N'Buta, African tribes (such as Zulu (see above)) fits as well.  Of course, with the Adders maxed out, I gave the design to the Snow Ravens instead, but it works in principle I do believe.

Two excellent entries thus far. The Arapaho and the Zulu are gonna make my job tough for sure.

Actually the Star Adders already have an interesting example for us to look at for a naming scheme. With one of the original dozen OmniFighters we know of being the Sulla this Clan really went in a different direction. It is not a Tribe or Mongol Khan as any of the other 11 but a Roman Dictator. Sort of makes sense cause the Adders are the planners and would revere the old legendary Generals of Rome. Could that be their potential scheme?

Of course seven other Clans also have existing canon examples from TRO 3055 to think about. Four are single example.

The Steel Viper built the Batu in 2987.

Burrock has the Turk.

Wolf the Jagatai.

And Smoke Jaguar the Sabutai.

The Snow Ravens have two fighters to help with the Bashkir (2930) and Avar (2899)

The Ghost Bear also have two fighters the Jengiz (3032) and Kirghiz (2874)

The Jade Falcon got three with the Vandal (2941), Visigoth (2948), and Scytha (2968)

Any patterns there?

Overview:
In developing the Pashtun, Clan Hells Horses Scientists first examined existing omnifighters to see what they didn't provide the Clans. While nothing of the exact weight bracket existed, the speedy Sulla and slow but ferocious Turk were worthy contenders and only five tons above them was the highly successful Visigoth. This convinced them that there was a definite opening for a heavily armoured airframe to provide close air support to their ground forces.

Capabilities:
Contrary to some suggestions, the design process for the Pashtun didn't begin with a fifty-five ton slab of Ferro-Aluminium and instructions to carve space for the engines out of it. In fact the Pashtun demonstrated it was easily able to match the performance of the Turk and the Visigoth in the air, courtesy of a 275 XL turbine developed especially for the design. Small bomb loads can also be carried without seriously degrading the Pashtun's air-to-air capability.

As Hells Horses pilots remark, the mark of a good ground support pilot is not the kill markers but the battle damage to your aircraft can take before withdrawing. Other observers have suggested there's something masochistic about Hells Horses pilots attempting to one-up each other in how badly their fighters were damaged but the Pashtun allows them to indulge this tendency in spades.

In exchange the Pashtun carries less armament than either of the above designs, only barely exceeding the pod-space of the much smaller Batu. This still comes to a respectable 34% of the airframe's mass, perfectly sufficient to deal punishing damage to anything in its path. The electronics is the ancient but reliable equipment used on the Vandal - readily available to the Hells Horses who saw no point in needlessly complicating the development of their first modern omnifighter.

The Pashtun Prime is outfitted for strafing purposes with a formidable energy weapon payload. At long ranges the large lasers offer stand-off capability and at close quarters the wing-mounted small lasers deliver brutal punches. It's argued by the Hells Horses that this configuration with its relatively small logistical demands will be ideal for the lengthy supply lines necessary when fighting in the Inner Sphere.

In contrast the Alpha Configuration is optimised for long range strikes against dropships and warships. Each wing mounts a large LRM rack and augmented targeting gear to allow strikes from outside the range of most anti-fighter turrets while delivering the sort of punch usually limited to heavy autocannon and the most powerful energy weapons. As secondary armament, the medium lasers are more than sufficient to handle Inner Sphere interceptors, since little slower will be able to keep up with the Pashtun.

In Beta configuration the Pashtun bows to the needs of not only extended operations but also to long duration missions. Like the Primary it uses all energy weapons, in this case six medium pulse lasers backed by an advanced targeting computer. The onboard fuel load is doubled to ensure that this dog-fighter can stay in the field as long as its armour allows - and the Pashtun is perhaps the sturdiest airframe the Clans have ever fielded. Unlike the other configurations the Pashtun B has no long range reach but with the ability to deliver its firepower with pinpoint accuracy and the durability to engage point-blank this is more than acceptable. A variation on this load out removes two tons of fuel for additional heatsinks.

My thinking was pretty much what I put in the fluff - in fact I wrote the first paragraph before making any decisions other than the name of the fighter and which Clan would be building it. The Turk and Visigoth are exemplary vampires, the Sulla is a serviceable mid-weight werewolf - but there's no brick in the line-up (can't call it a zombie with the XL engine). Throw in the Dagger being a favorite ASF of mine and the idea that the Hells Horses would love a CAS platform and don't have any existing ASF philosophy to restrain them from going balls to the walls insane with their new toy...

And I got the engine weight wrong... dammit. This is why lack of a replacement for HMA is such a pain.  Edit will be coming shortly.

Edit done. And there appears to be no 275 XL engine in use among the Clans at all. I've not even found an SLDF design with an XL engine of that rating!

I would not be surprised by no 275XL with no Clan Omnifighter of that weight and most Clan 55 ton Mechs (Stormcrow and Vapor Eagle) going 6/9 (330XL) or better (Black Lanner with a 385XL going 7/11) or not being equipped with an XL (Stooping Hawk). The sole exception seems to be the Rabid Coyote (enters production in 3066) and the Pariah aka Septicema (not used till 3072 by the Society) which Abele did a fine job of tapping into.

Both the 275 and the 330 seem to be limited in their usage as they can only service two Mech weights. 25 or 30 (11/17) and 55 tons (5/8 or 6/9).

That's why I used the Coyotes and tied it in with the Society's Pariah/Septicemia. Also. it's not much of a stretch to actually design it as it falls in between the 270 and 280XLs which have much broader usage amongst the clans. It likely would involve a slightly larger reaction chamber and some more tubing for cooling. Heck the 275 and 280 XLs both weigh 8 tons and the 270XL is 7.5

Good points Abele on the engines.

Keeping in line with my aerospace naming conventions I went back to the drawing board and found some new stuff in Strategic Operations. Going by first aerospace fighter for each Clan listed we have;

Clan Wolf - Avar (2878)
Clan Ghost Bear - Kirghiz (2874)
Clan Jade Falcon - Visigoth (2948)
Clan Diamond Shark - Ogotai (2874)
Clan Nova Cat - Qasar (2905)
Clan Snow Raven - Issus (2842)

Now here is what interesting to me. First off it appears that Wolf was responsible for the Avar and not the Snow Ravens as I surmised from its component names and notable pilots. Oh well, I can still make it work for what we have. No big deal.

Ghost Bear, Jade Falcon, and Snow Raven info really doesn't tell me much new however Diamond Shark and Nova Cat does.

Both the Ogotai (2874) and the Qasar could be OmniFighters I am not aware of as they do follow the naming conventions for such craft. Ogotai was Genghis Khan's second son and the second Great Khan while Qasar was Genghis Khan's full brother. I wonder what happened to these fighters?
