Design Notes:
DropShuttle Bays are calculated in the same manner as Dropship collars.
This is the first ever armed jumpship so its armament is relativley light.
Engine weight is double that of normal
armor is figured at .2 per ton
Overview:
The Alliance Parliment in 2116 came to recognize that their far flung colonies were potential problems
if any radicals were to take them over. so to combat these potential future problems designs were called
for a combat jumpship to ferry troops and bombard enemy fortifications from space. The design placed
foward was the TAS Charger. In 2120 Terran shipyards began building six vessels of the Charger class.
In 2122 the first vessel launched was the TAS Charger, she was very exspensive to build and maintain
costing 5 times more than a jumpship. Soon in 2126 all six vessels were complete and travelling the space
lanes from the far flung colonies and Terra.
Capabilities:
The Charger was built to stike pirate ships, support planetary landings and show Alliance might wherever
she went. but in reality she really was poorly equipped ship for these roles.
Deployment:
No known battle history is recorded during the first 100 yrs of the ships history. In 2235 the "Outer Reaches
Rebellion" began. The Alliance Parliment sent a force of Marines supported by three Charger class vessels.
The Charger's were nothing more than floating space fortresses as the rebel bases were well hidden and the Marines
were fighting a guerilla type warfare.
Redtail Antiship Missiles: They were predecessors to the White Shark missile. Identical to the White Shark except
that they can not target aerospace fighters.
