The following are OmniFighters, DropShips, JumpShips, and WarShips are part of my Handbook:  Clan Goliath Scorpion project . . . which I am currently in the process of completely rewriting and updating.  Although the actual Handbook is NOT ready for posting, here is the data on the aerospace side of things.

Overview

The 40-ton Comanche is the lightest and most maneuverable of Clan Goliath Scorpion's newest OmniFighters.  Part of Khan Kirov's reforms of the Scorpion Touman, the Comanche (and other OmniFighters and OmniMechs) were designed and built around the concept of streamlining Clan logistics.  All of the new OF and OM produced under Project Scorpion 3000 utilize the same communications array (JNE Integrated) and tracking & targeting array (TRTTS Mark II with Targeting Computer) as well as one of just two extra-light fusion engines selected for the Clan (either the Skorpion Type I 350XL or the Skorpion Type II 360XL). 

This consolidation has reduced the burden on Scorpion industry dramatically and by using a common engine it has allowed the Scorpions to design, test, and field a total of three new OmniFighters and five new OmniMechs.

Capabilities

The Comanche masses 40 tons and yet remains able to maintain a safe thrust of 5.5-G's (and a max thrust of 8.5-G's!) thanks to the powerful (albeit heavy) Skorpion Type II 360XL extra-light fusion engine.  Scorpion engineers incorporated a five-ton fuel tank in the design, giving this new light-weight OmniFighter a significant advantage in endurance over other Clan light-weight fighters.  Protection was not neglected either, with 7.5 tons of ferro-aluminum armor plating that gives the Comanche the ability to resist penetration strikes from IS Medium Lasers (Clan Small Lasers) on the nose and wings. 

Unfortunately, this combination of a powerful engine and heavy armor protection (for a light fighter, at least) reduced the mass available for pod-space to a mere eight tons.  However, upon review of the performance of the new fighter, Khan Djerassi approved the Comanche for full-scale production, deeming the firepower it did carry (combined with the acceleration and armor protection) as sufficient for the needs of the Scorpion Touman.

Configurations

The Comanche Prime is armed only with a single weapon:  a nose-mounted ER PPC that is tied into a two-ton Targeting Computer.  Feared by Clan and Inner Sphere Pilots alike, the power of this weapon cannot be understated.  Virtually no fighter in existence is able to stop internal penetration by this weapon, allowing the Prime to mission-kill opponents even if their armor remains relatively intact.

Configuration A retains the two-ton Targeting Computer (as do all Comanche configurations), but replaces the ER PPC with a nose-mounted ER Large Laser.  Four ER Small Lasers (two each in the right and left wing) support this weapon at shorter ranges.  A fearsome strafe, the Comanche A is heat-neutral even with just the ten integral double-strength heat sinks.

Used for recon and patrols, Configuration B is outfitted with both an Active Probe and an ECM Suite.  Armament consists of four nose-mounted ER Medium Lasers and twin ER Small Lasers firing astern; all tied into a one-ton Targeting Computer.  With only 10 DHS, the Comanche B overheats if it fires both forward and rear weapons simultaneously, but a skilled Pilot will only seldom be put in such a position.

The Comanche C retains the Active Probe and two nose-mounted ER Medium Lasers (along with the one-ton Targeting Computer) but replaces all other weapons and equipment with six ER Small Lasers (two each in the nose, right wing, and left wing).  Eleven DHS alleviates all heat from these guns.

Configuration D is often assigned to rookie Pilots; not because it is an ineffective machine, but rather because the Pilots feel that using Pulse Lasers is a crutch for the unskilled.  This configuration features a single Large Pulse Laser in the nose and a two-ton Targeting Computer.  Despite the disregard that many Warriors show for this configuration, the Khans and Clan leadership has insisted that this highly accurate and lethal weapons mix remain on active service.

The Comanche E is also not very popular amongst the Pilots of Clan Goliath Scorpion.  Armament consists of three Medium Pulse Lasers (nose, right wing, and left wing) all tied into a two-ton Targeting Computer.  An in-fighter supreme, this configuration excels at close-range dogfighting.

Overview

The Zulu is the second (and most common) of the new Scorpion 3000 OmniFighters.  Fast, well-protected, and possessing a good (if not exceptional) punch in all configurations, this medium-weight design is a multi-role fighter that is well able to contribute to any mission that the Scorpions may require.

Capabilities

Massing 60-tons, the Zulu uses the Skorpion Type II 360XL fusion engine recently developed and built on Roche.  The power generated by this drive allows the fighter to cruise at speeds of 4-G safely and reach a maximum acceleration of 6-G's under full power.  Scorpion engineers, in response to comments made by Pilots during the design process, incorporated a seven-ton fuel tank; this amount of fuel (on a Clan design!!) is almost unheard of and provides Pilots with added endurance and loiter time.

Armor protection was deemed a vital necessity as the Scorpion leadership understands that you can build new machines . . . but the men and women who operate them, their skills are not so easily replaced.  Thirteen and one-half tons of ferro-aluminum armor plating provides for protection against threshold criticals by IS Large Lasers on the nose and wings . . . and IS Medium Lasers from astern.  Many heavy-weight Aerospace Fighters or OmniFighters are not so well protected.

Thirteen double-strength heat sinks are fitted to the frame to help in shedding weapons heat, leaving seventeen tons available for pod-space.  Although on the low side for a Clan medium-weight fighter, the Khans (and Scorpion Pilots) believe that combined with the thrust, protection, and endurance, seventeen tons is more than adequate.

Configurations

The Zulu Prime is armed with two nose-mounted ER PPCs tied into a three-ton Targeting Computer.  Often used as a 'DropShip Buster', the Prime is able to hit hard at long ranges, but lacks the secondary support weapons so many Pilots deem as vital in a modern aerospace engagement.  Fifteen DHS allows the Pilot to use the weapons without concern for excess overheat.

Configuration A addresses the concerns that Pilots had for the Prime . . . in SPADES.  The main gun is an ER Large Laser in the nose.  Supporting this weapon are a dozen ER Small Lasers (four each in the nose, right wing, and left wing).  All of these guns are tied into a two-ton Targeting Computer and eighteen DHS allows for their constant use in combat.

The Zulu C packs a single ER PPC in the nose, supported by six ER Medium Lasers (two each in the nose, right wing, and left wing).  Fifteen DHS means that this warbid cannot fire all of its weapons at once, normally using the ER Peeper at range and the ERMLs in close.  A three-ton Targeting Computer makes all of the weapons more accurate.

The final configuration is the Zulu D.  Much like the Comanche D and E configurations, this one was met with protests from Scorpion Pilots who consider Pulse Lasers to be a negative commentary on their gunnery skills.  Despite this, the Scorpion leadership has consistently insisted on fielding OmniFighters with Pulse Laser armaments for situations when every single shot has to count.  Configuration D features a nose-mounted Large Pulse Laser, supported by four Medium Pulse Lasers (two each in the right and left wings), all tied into a three-ton Targeting Computer.

Overview

The Hun is the heavy-weight sledgehammer of Clan Goliath Scorpions aerospace arm.  Based largely on the frame of the SLDF Ahab, this OmniFighter is able to deliver the heaviest blows of any natively-produced Scorpion 3000 OmniFighter.  However, the very similar performance characteristics to the Jade Falcon Scytha has resulted in rising tensions between that Clan and the Scorpions.  Despite evidence to the contrary, the Falcons believe that the Scorpions based their design on their own heavy fighter and are aiming to take the Scorpions (and their new Huns) down over the issue.

Capabilities

At 90-tons, the Hun is certainly a heavy-weight OmniFighter.  However, the use of the Skorpion Type II 360XL fusion engine allows this design to maneuver and accelerate as well as many Inner Sphere medium-weight designs (3-G's safe thrust and 4.5-G's max thrust).  Unfortunately, the same rate of engine is used in the Falcon Scytha and despite Scorpion assurances and noted differences in the frame, armor, and warload, the rather touchy and easy to insult Jade Falcons have all but promised retribution.

That remains for the future, however.

The Hun is outfitted with a massive 10-ton fuel tank which provides exceptional range and endurance for strike missions.  Protection consists of seventeen and one-half tons of ferro-aluminum, which renders the fighter immune to threshold criticals from IS PPCs and Class 10 autocannons across the nose and wings, as well as Clan Medium Lasers on the rear sections.

Ten double-strength heat sinks were installed in the frame, giving the Hun a total of twenty.  Most configurations carry more as well to deal with the high heat production of Clan energy weapons.  Finally, the design team incorporated a fixed ECM Suite for additional defense.

This left only thirty-two tons available for pod-space, seven tons less than the seventy-ton Jagatai.

Configurations

The Hun Prime features two ER Large Lasers and two ER PPCs, all mounted in the nose.  An Active Probe is provided for maximum resolution of target data, while a four-ton Targeting Computer improves overall accuracy.  Seven additional DHS (for a total of 27) allow for the constant use of the guns without generating excess overheat.

Configuration A lacks the concentrated damage of the Prime or other Configurations, but carries an immense array of firepower able to melt off tons of armor at a time.  Three ER Large Lasers are the long-range guns (nose, right wing, and left wing), supported by ten ER Medium Lasers (four nose, three right wing, and three left wing).  All are tied into a five-ton Targeting Computer.  Just five additional DHS are carried (for a total of 25); this is not anywhere sufficient to fire all onboard weapons.  However, at long-range, the Hun A can engage with the triple ER Large Lasers without any problems.  At shorter ranges, the ten ER Medium Lasers can be used instead and the fighter will remain heat-neutral.

Configuration B is very similar to the A, however, there is just one ER Large Laser (mounted in the nose).  Fourteen ER Medium Lasers (four in the nose, four in the right wing, four in the left wing, and two astern) provided back-up weapons.  All guns are tied into a four-ton Targeting Computer.  Even with a total of thirty DHS, a Pilot must be cautious.  While he has enough cooling capability to fire all twelve forward-facing ER Medium Lasers, he simply cannot add the ER Large or the rear-firing guns at the same time.

The Hun C utilizes Pulse Lasers. The main guns are two Large Pulse Lasers in the nose, supported by six Medium Pulse Lasers (two in the nose, two each in the right and left wings) and a single ER Medium Laser firing astern.  A five-ton Targeting Computer coordinates data and improves accuracy, while twenty-two DHS allows for free use of all forward guns without heat concerns.

ZAMA

Overview

The Zama is a Goliath Scorpion Small Craft that serves that Clan (and others) as personnel and cargo shuttle for ferrying supplies, troops, and personnel between the surface of a planet and orbit when DropShips are not available (or cost-efficient).  Often called the unsung workhorses of the Clans, such shuttlecraft are quite common . . . but have often been neglected in prior Technical Readouts.

Capabilities

Massing 200-tons, the Zama is at the very upper end of the weight-range allowed for a Small Craft.  Built on an aerodyne military frame, this shuttle is able to maintain 2.5-G's of safe thrust with a maximum acceleration of 4-G's under emergency conditions.  The design team included a ten-ton fuel tank, allowing for greater endurance; however, in an effort to save internal volume and mass, the Scorpion engineers also omitted quarters for the four-man crew (pilot/gunner, co-pilot/rear gunner, flight systems engineer, and loadmaster).  Instead, the crew have been provided with a combined cockpit that does not include sleeping compartments, rec facilities, kitchen facilities, or any unrequired amenities.

Although this does reduce the effectiveness of the design in performing long-haul intra-planetary cargo/passenger runs, it allowed the Scorpion designers to incorporate a full V/STOL system to allow the Zama to take off and land vertically (at the cost of fuel) or use shorter-than-normal runways. 

Cargo capacity is a hefty 75-tons with three bay doors (rear, right side, and left side).  Cargo tonnage could have been higher, but the design team clearly had the Zama in mind for delivering Elementals in para-drops or hot landing zones and so incorporated ten and one-half tons of ferro-aluminum armor plating (enough to give the nose and wings threshold immunity vs. IS Large Lasers and the stern from Clan Medium Lasers). 

Armament is very light, consisting of a mixed battery of two ER Medium Lasers and two ER Small Lasers in the nose, with an additional two ER Small Lasers firing astern.  Although many deem it a waste, the Scorpions included a one-ton Targeting Computer to link these guns as well.  Nine DHS allows for the full use of all weapons (forward AND rear, simultaneously).

With the excellent protection, hefty payload, and ability to deliver cargo to the field via the VSTOL system, the Zama has become an integral part of the Scorpion Touman.  It is the vessel of choice for both high- and low-altitude Elemental drops, as well as dust-offs and medical evacuations in hot landing zones.

WARDEN

Overview

The Warden is the standard Assault DropShip of Clan Goliath Scorpion.  Based largely upon the SLDF Pentagon, the Warden is a thoroughly modern upgrade that is faster, tougher, and has greater endurance due to the lack of ammunition based weaponry.  Many Clan Warriors (especially Crusaders) simply refer to this ship as the Pentagon-C.

Capabilities

Massing 4,000 tons, the Warden is very similar in size and external appearance to the old Pentagon-class.  The newer DropShip, however, uses a more powerful fusion drive that allows for a safe thrust of 4-G's and a maximum acceleration of 6-G's.  Armor protection as also increased with 89.5 tons of ferro-aluminum plating over a reinforced structural core.  Many corvettes and destroyers do not have as much armor protection as the Warden.

Three hundred and thirty-two tons of fuel gives the design a maximum operating duration of 180 days (under 1-G of acceleration).  Crew consists of 25 officers and men (4 officers, 7 crew, and 14 gunners) and they have been provided with a full 180 days worth of life support, provisions, and water stores.  There is no passenger space or accomodations for Elemental Marines; however, five escape pods have been fitted to allow the crew to abandon ship if such an action is required.  Cargo space is a hefty 307 tons.

The original armament of the Pentagon was replaced with eighty-four Large Pulse Lasers, divided among forty-one four-gun turrets (six in the nose, three each in the fore-sides, aft-sides, and stern).  Three hundred and five tons of dedicated cooling equipment allows the Warden to simultaneously fire each and every one of those laser turrets.  This highly accurate laser array is extremely effective against hostile ASF, as well as Small Craft, DropShips, JumpShips, and even WarShips.

The Warden serves throughout the Scorpion Touman and is being considered for service by a handful of other Clans, including Clan Star Adder and Clan Wolf.

Overview

Unique to Clan Goliath Scorpion, the Scorpion-class DropShip was designed for use with the mixed Trinary formations employed by the Clan's Touman.  Rather than make-do with the hodge-podge collection of Broadswords, Union-Cs, Sassanids, Carriers, and Overlord-Cs in use by other Clans, in 2944, the Scorpions contracted with Clan Snow Raven to produce one hundred and twenty of these new troop carriers (five for each Cluster in their Touman).  In the years since the introduction of this vessel, additional vessels have been purchased.

One advantage of the design was a streamlining of logistical and maintenance burdens in keeping these vessels operational.  With common parts shared by all five of the sub-variants of this class, the Scorpion-series has made it easier for the Clan to retain its self-sufficiency.  Although not a true 'Omni-DropShip' (as some detractors of the design had christened the Scorpion when it first debuted), the ability gained by the Clan to focus available production facilities on only the spare parts and equipment required has made several other Clans sit up and pass closer attention.  However, to date, no other Clan has attempted to field their own variations.

Capabilities
Massing 6,600 tons, these military spheroid troop carriers were planned, constructed, and deployed in seven separate, yet near-identical, variants.  The vessel's dimensions, armor, armament, fuel tankage, spare parts stowage, and core crew remain the same in all configurations; the only difference lies in the quantity and types of troops, cargo, and passengers embarked, the amount of provisions and water stowed, and the number of escape pods fitted.  Heavier than the standard Clan Union-C by 1,900 tons, the Scorpion can match the older DropShip in thrust (2-g's safe and 3-g's maximum), and has stronger armor protection.  Outwardly, the design greatly resembles the ancient SLDF Fortress, which the Ravens used as the starting point for the new ship.

Three hundred and thirty-two tons of fuel provide for constant operations of up to 180 days (although combat operations necessitate much more frequent resupply operations).

Armament consists of sixty Large Pulse Lasers installed in fifteen four-gun turrets spaced across the ship (three each in the nose and fore-quarters arcs; two each in the stern and aft-quarters arcs).  One significant difference between older troop carriers and the Scorpion series is that the Scorpion has a robust heat exchange and power generation system that allows the DropShip crew to engage targets with every mounted weapon system simultaneously.

Crew consists of two officers and thirteen additional crewmen (ten of whom serve as gunners!).  Contrary to conventional practices, the interior spaces are laid out to provide the crew as well as assigned bay personnel (technicians and warriors alike) with staterooms and living quarters equal to 2nd class passenger quarters (a distinct improvement over traditional bay personnel quarters--which are extremely spartan and limited in both space and utility).  The Cluster Commander and ship's officers have slightly larger compartments (although these remain relatively spartan).

The Scorpion Mk I has the responsibility for carrying a Command Trinary (Cluster or Galaxy) into battle (12 OmniMechs, 10 Elementals, and 2 OmniFighters).  In addition to these Warriors, the Mk I includes a 50-ton Cluster Command Center with 25 former Warriors, Scientists, Merchants, and Technicians assigned to coordinate all of the CCCIL (Command, Control, Communications, Intelligence, and Logistics) operations in support of the Cluster (or Galaxy).  Steerage quarters are available for up to thirty-nine passengers.  Cargo space is an ample 597 tons, exclusive of fuel stores, provisions and water stowage, and spare parts.

The Mk II Scorpion is assigned an Assault Trinary consisting of 10 OmniMechs and 50 Elementals.  Each Mk II also features quarters for 55 passengers and cargo space for up to 1,227 tons of parts and munitions.

The Scorpion Mk III carries a Battle Trinary of 5 OmniMechs, 25 Elementals, and 10 OmniFighters.  There is sufficient space for 45 passengers and 477 tons of cargo.

The Scorpion Mk IV is assigned a Striker Trinary of 10 OmniMechs and 10 OmniFighters, with space for just 5 passengers and a mere 201 tons of cargo.

The Scorpion Mk V is assigned an Artillery Trinary of 15 BattleMechs, with space for 75 passengers and 527 tons of cargo.

The Scorpion Mk VI (Cargo) is a dedicated combat cargo vessel.  There is sufficient space for 105 passengers and 2,777 tons of cargo.

Finally, the Scorpion Mk VII (Passenger) is devoted to moving personnel between the worlds of the Kerensky Cluster and Pentagon.  There is passenger space for 345 passengers along with 1,081 tons of cargo.

Overview

Based on the prototype Cargomaster DropShip of the SLDF, the Auroch is the standard Clan Goliath Scorpion Merchant caste DropShip.  Completely modernized and upgraded with the latest armor, computer systems, and weapons, the Auroch serves the Scorpions (and other Clans) well in the role as a cargo ship.

Capabilities

Massing 12,500 tons, the Auroch is capable of generating an acceleration thrust of 1.5-G's (safe) and 2.5-G's (maximum).  Three hundred and thirty-two tons of fuel provide enough reserves to operate for up to 180 days at 1-G of acceleration.  Forty-three tons of ferro-aluminum armor plating gives excellent protection for a cargo ship.  The twelve man crew (2 officers, 5 crewmen, and 5 gunners) operate twenty-six Large Pulse Lasers for self-defense (fitted in thirteen two-gun turrets; three in the nose and two in all remaining arcs). There is sufficient space for 108 passengers and up to 8,084 tons of cargo can be stored in four bays (in addition to the 312.5 tons of spare parts stored).

The Mod 2 Auroch is a variant on the basic chassis.  Intended as a passenger transport, the Mod 2 reduces cargo space to 4,268 tons and has quarters, escape pods, and both provisions and water stowage for up to 648 passengers.

Overview

The Mastodon is a heavy cargo vessel developed by Clan Snow Raven in the early years of the Golden Century.  Updated ever since, it has served across the Clans as a bulk cargo carrier.  Until the Clans began their invasion of the Inner Sphere, the Mastodon was considered the largest bulk cargo carrier ever designed.  The existence of the Mammoth and Behemoth came as a complete surprise and did much to reduce the sense of superiority among the Clan's Merchant caste.

Capabilities

At 37,500 tons, the Mastodon is three times the size of the far more common Auroch.  It is able, however, to attain the same acceleration (1.5-G's/2.5-G's) and mounts the same armament.  However, that comes at a cost as the Mastodon is only lightly protected by armor (in comparison, of course). 

Fuel stores consist of 1,174 tons, enough to cruise at 1-G for 180 standard days.  Each Mastodon carries four Small Craft (typically the Zama in Scorpion service) and has a crew of 36 (2 officers, 9 crew, 5 gunners, and 20 bay personnel) with quarters for 104 passengers.  The cargo (24,561 tons) is divided among three bays with an additional 937.5 tons of spare parts stowage.

A passenger variant (the Mod 2) does exist, but is quite rare.  Cargo is reduced to 12,265 tons (plus spare parts) in order to accommodate a total of 1,944 passengers.

...I hate to bring this up, but I notice every design is focused on energy weapons, without so much as a single variant dedicated to missiles and gauss weapons.  Do you think it wise, what with the IS eventually developing Reflec armor?  Or do these events take place only in the homeworlds, and early enough to be developed long before specialty armor is developed?

Late 2900s to early 3000s, Red Pins.  The 'Mechs and WarShips will feature missile and ballistic weapons, but for the fighters, small craft, DropShips, and JumpShips, the Clan made a decision to go with lighter, harder-hitting energy weapons to maximize internal space.  And to not have to worry about resupply of munitions.

AGGRESSOR, ODYSSEY, and VOYAGER

Overview

During the Golden Century, Clan Snow Raven set out to design several new JumpShips that would incorporate lithium-fusion batteries from the start.  Many of the older SLDF JumpShips lacked the space to install this system (and HPG transmitters) without removing existing docking collars . . . and most were completely unarmed.  Starting in 2942, a series of newly developed JumpShips was introduced intended to replace the older models.  Among these were the Aggressor, the Odyssey, and the Voyager.

Capabilities

All three of the JumpShips described below are outfitted with Lithium-Fusion Batteries and HPG Transmitters.  Each is armored with ferro-aluminum (to varying degrees) and lightly armed for self-defense. 

The 160,000 ton Aggressor features two docking collars and is armed with eighteen Medium Pulse Lasers in six three-gun turrets array across the surface of the vessel.  Seventy tons of FA armor provide decent protection (for a JumpShip), with internal cargo space for 261 tons (including spare parts).  This class of JumpShip is often assigned to Seekers and is also in use by the military Touman and the Merchant caste.

ESSEX III

Overview

The first WarShip to be handed over to the Ravens was the cached Essex-class Destroyer Bon Homme Richard . . . redesignated as the CGSS Persephone.  Recovered from the Dagda cache in 2975 by Raven technical crews, she began her refit and overhaul at the Lum Shipyards in the same year. She was followed in 2976 by the CGSS Orepheus, another Essex-class vessel.

Both ships would require a full year to rebuild to the new specifications that the Goliath Scorpions had provided to the Raven engineers, being turned over to Scorpion hands for active duty in 2976 and 2977, respectively.

Capabilities

Although the ships remained quite similar in outer appearance to existing Clan Essex-class vessels (and retained the same 1.5-G/2.5-G acceleration profile), there were significant changes in the weapons layout, internal stores, and armor protection.

Armor was increased from 262.5 tons of Improved Ferro-aluminum to 744 tons of Ferro-Carbide, resulting in more than three times the protection of the original ship.  Two docking collars were added, along with Lithium-Fusion Batteries and an HPG transmitter, and the old 55-meter diameter grav deck was replaced with a pair of contra-rotating 95-meter decks.  The design also included 10 Fighters and 4 Small Craft, as well as 25 Elemental Marines permanently assigned to the vessel.

The original twelve Whirlwind-20 Series NAC-20 Naval Autocannons were retained, but two were removed from the stern arc and added to the fore-quarters (which went from a three-gun bay to two two-gun bays).  Ammunition reserves were increased to 50 bursts per gun.

The Rand-10 Medium Naval PPCs in the broadsides and stern-quarters were retained, and an additional eight guns were mounted (in four four-gun bays).  The eight low-powered Magna-35 NL-35 Naval Lasers were removed and replaced (in the same arcs) with sixteen Magna-45 NL-45 Naval Lasers.

The three Delta Series SM-17 Barracuda Capital Missile Launchers were retained in their original arcs, but six additional Barracudas were fitted, increasing the launchers to 3-tube bays.  Magazine space was expanded to 50 Barracudas per launcher.

Two Delta Series SM-22 White Shark Capital Missile Launchers were then added to the nose arc, with a magazine storing of 100 White Shark missiles.

Finally, ninety-six Kolibri Series Delta Large Pulse Lasers were added in twenty-four four-gun turrets (three turrets per arc).

Almost eighteen hundred tons was dedicated to additional cooling and power generation equipment, allowing the (newly redesignated) Essex III to fire all of their weapons simultaneously.

Crew size increased to 42 officers, 127 crewmen, 71 gunners, 25 Marines, and 40 bay personnel for a total of 305 versus the 278 of the original Clan version.  Fifty-five passenger quarters were supplied, along with provisions, water, and life support to last the full complement of 360 for a full standard year.  Sixty escape pods were fitted to the design, allowing for the evacuation of all personnel.

Internal fuel stores was increased to 14,228 tons, enough to allow the vessel to cruise for 360 days at 1-G of acceleration.  To compensate for these added capabilities, the Ravens were forced to reduce the total onboard cargo capacity to just 64,829 tons (just over half that of the original design).

Clan Reaction

The Ravens, being in possession of the schematics for this 'overhaul', were extremely interested in procuring the design . . . and subsequent Scorpion designs for their remaining WarShips.  The Scorpion leadership agreed to allow the Ravens to use their schematics in exchange for a 40% reduction in the amount charged for these rebuilds.  It was a steep cost, and the Ravens balked . . . but eventually settled on a 25% reduction on Persephone, Orpheus, and the remaining Scorpion WarShips. 

To which the Scorpions agreed . . . but only if the Ravens did not share the schematics further. Clan Goliath Scorpion would retain exclusive rights to the design for trade or sell to other Clans.  In 2976, the Raven Khans agreed to that proviso.

Few, if any, other Clans were greatly worried about the Scorpions.  After all, they had just sold half of their existing Fleet (and a much larger percentage of their total Fleet tonnage).  Until Clan Burrock decided to intercept a Scorpion convoy near Dagda in 2977. 

The CBS Eagle (an Essex-class Destroyer) approached the convoy, which was being escorted by the newly restored to service CGSS Persephone.  The Burrocks, expecting an even fight, challenged the Scorpion WarShip to a Trial of Possession over the convoy.

The resulting engagement did not proceed as the Burrocks had anticipated.  Unprepared for the heavy armor, greater armament, and exceptional cooling ability of Persephone, the Burrock commander quickly requested hegira when it became obvious he (and his vessel) would be destroyed it he pressed the fight.

Although some Crusader Clans dismissed the incident as Burrock exaggerations to salve their wounded pride over losing to the Scorpions, other Clans did begin looking more closely at the Scorpion Naval program.  And many were impressed.

Clan Ghost Bear was the first to call for a Trial of Possession for the Essex III schematics for their own destroyers to be similarly upgraded . . . but they were not the last.  By 3014, six Clans (Coyote, Diamond Shark, Ghost Bear, Ice Hellion Smoke Jaguar, and Snow Raven) had managed to obtain the rights to use the schematics for themselves.  Either by Trial or by negotiation.

LOLA IV

Overview

The next ships handed over the Raven Shipyards were the Clan's two Lola III class Destroyers:  Auriga (2977) and Sagitta (2978).  These ships would require a more substantial rebuild than the earlier Essex III class Destroyers, with Auriga returning to the Scorpion Touman in 2979 and Sagitta in 2980.  While combat performance was paramount, the main delaying factor was the installation of a Star League era Naval Comm-Scanner Suite (Large).  Originally intended for lightly armored Bug-Eye Covert Surveillance  Corvettes (and not fitted on any modern Clan vessel know to ComStar), the Raven engineers and Scorpion Scientists had to reconfigure the radar emitters, scanner heads, and receiving arrays multiple times in order to make the system finally work.

Although the overhaul consumed rather more time than originally anticipated, the installation of the NCSS gave the new Lola IVs (as the Ravens designated the ships) the ability to detect hostile or unknown vessels at three times the ranges of more conventional search arrays, as well as coordinate the actions of multiple ships (not to mention scanning planetary surfaces!).  Rights to convert their own Lola IIIs were quickly transferred to the Ravens when the Khans of that Clan offered to reduce the overhaul costs of these two new Scorpion vessels by an additional 10%.  Having seen with their own eyes the data from the initial post-refit test flights, the Ravens realized this new ship was exactly what their Touman needed.

The two Clans have held the plans for the Lola IV very tightly . . . to date, only the Horses have managed to secure the right to convert their existing ships.

Capabilities

The redesigned Lola IV remained at the same tonnage (680,000 tons) and thrust (2-G/3-G) as the earlier Lola III.  Working from the desired Scorpion schematics, the Raven engineers overhauled the armor scheme completely, upgrading from 286.5 tons of ferro-carbide armor to 673 tons (220% of the original plating).  Lithium-fusion Batteries and an HPG transmitter were fitted to the design, along with two docking collars.  While the original Clan complement of 10 fighters was retained, the design team reduced the number of small craft from 10 to 4, and added quarters for a Star of battle-armored Marine Elementals.  As with the earlier Essex III rebuild, the Lola IV featured widened passageways allowing for the Marines to freely roam throughout the ship's interior.

The installation of a Large Naval Comm-Scanner System came next.  Although light-weight, the bulk and sensitivity of the scanning receptors necessitated several redesigns to make the system functional.  Two 105-meter contra-rotating grav decks were then added . . . a feature that no Lola-class Destroyer before it had installed. 

Fuel stores were increased to more than 14,000 tons--enough to cruise at 1-G for a standard year.  Likewise, onboard provisions, water, and life support were provided in sufficient quantities to ensure that the full ship's complement of 360 (42 officers, 139 crewmen, 12 comm-scanner technicians, 60 gunners, 40 bay personnel, 25 Marines, and 42 passengers) would be supplied for at least a year as well.  An additional 738 tons of heat sinks, exchangers, and power generators were installed to handle the anticipated load from the revamped weapon systems.

For added anti-fighter defense, a total of ninety-six Kolibri Series Delta Large Pulse Lasers were installed in twenty-four quadruple turrets spaced evenly across the ship's outer hull.  These weapons served as tertiary anti-ship weapons as well, albeit at closer ranges than most ship commanders preferred to engage the enemy.

The bow twin NL-55 Naval Lasers were augmented by adding two more NL-55s, doubling the forward damage output.  In addition, Raven engineers were able to reconfigure the nose armor to add two launch tubes for the Gamma Series SM-25 Killer Whale Capital Missiles, along with a central magazine containing one hundred missiles.  The Scorpion requirement for this exact weapon system caught the Ravens by surprise as the original Lola III did not mount this class of missile, and in terms of penetrating capital armor and generating internal critical hits on vital systems, the White Shark was normally deemed a better choice.  While for anti-fighter work, the lighter Barracuda was preferred.  Some cynical members of the Raven Scientist and Warrior castes voiced concern that the Scorpions might well have insisted upon the Killer Whale tubes for its capacity to fire nuclear-tipped ordnance . . . which the Scorpion liaisons derided.  The White Shark already had that capacity, they insisted.  The Clan only wanted the heavier Killer Whale for the increased conventional yield.

Although not completely convinced of Scorpion sincerity in the matter, the Ravens did install the Killer Whale tubes and related magazine.

One additional NL-55 was then added to the fore-quarters, bringing those two batteries up to four-gun bays.  The old White Shark launcher was removed and replaced with a pair of Delta Series SM-17 Barracuda Capital Missile Launchers, each pair having a magazine containing one hundred missiles.

The quad Luxor-10 NAC-10 Naval Autocannon bays on the broadsides and stern-quarters were retained . . . a move that surprised the Ravens who had expected the weapons to replaced with a harder-hitting triple NAC-20 mount.  However, the Scorpions wished to keep the four-gun theme of their Naval Lasers and Naval Autocannons consistent, citing the ability to use bracket fire mode to the maximum extent to enhance accuracy at the expense of pure damage.  Magazine space was increased to 50 bursts per gun (200 per quad battery) as well.  However, the single mount NL-45 Naval Lasers formerly located in these areas were removed.

The stern-quarters saw the installation of a pair of Delta Series SM-22 White Shark Capital Missile Launchers, with two magazines (port and starboard) each containing one hundred missiles. 

The stern quad NL-55 battery was retained intact and a second Delta Series SM-17 Barracuda Capital Missile Launcher installed.  As with the other capital missile systems, a magazine with one hundred missiles was also incorporated.

To pay for all of these improvements, cargo space was reduced from 107,725.5 tons to just 68,066 tons.  Still, the Lola IV had a full 10% of her mass devoted to cargo and spare parts, not including internal fuel stores, life support, provisions, and water supplies.

The end result was a capable and fast vessel able to detect threats long before hostile forces could even begin to track the new Lolas.  Although not as heavily armored or armed as the lighter Essex IIIs, the high-thrust, good armor, good armament, and excellent sensor capabilities of the Lola IV held great promise in increasing the effectiveness and combat capabilities of the Scorpion Touman.

Overview

With the next two ships in the Scorpion program, the Ravens began to get worried.  Improving destroyers was one thing, after all, but frigates?  Cruisers?  Battleships?  Certainly, the limited numbers of the projected Goliath Scorpion Fleet would pose little threat to that of Clan Snow Raven . . . but what if other Clans began to do the same?

However, the Raven Khans had given their word . . . after a fashion.  Citing the lack of sufficient dry-docks able to handle the extensive overhauls and rebuilding of ships in the 750,000-ton plus range, the Khans informed the Scorpions that they would only be able to work on a single ship at a time from this point onwards.

Furthermore, once Bernlad entered the Lum Shipyards in 2981, work proceeded at a very . . . sedate . . . pace.  It would take the Ravens four years to complete her overhaul, and Garlon would not be returned to Scorpion hands until 2988.

While the Scorpion leadership was furious over the delays (which many with the Clan suspected were deliberate), the Ravens were the only Clan able to carry out the extensive modifications required by the improvement program.

With no choice but to be patient, the Scorpions kept their suspicions to themselves, though many Blood-named promised to never forget the slow-down orchestrated by the Ravens.


Capabilities

The Scorpion vision of what would become known as the Congress III-class Frigate differed dramatically from the older vessels used by the SLDF and the Clans.  Seeing these ships as heavy escorts for the Fleet's cruisers, battleship, and transports, the Scorpions directed the Ravens to completely strip out the original armament package.

In place, the Scorpions ordered two dozen Barracuda missile launchers (individually mounted four each in the nose, stern, fore-quarters, and stern-quarters; each launcher having their own independent magazine for 50 missiles) and 112 Large Pulse Lasers (installed in four-gun turrets with four turrets in the Nose, Stern, and Quarters arcs; the broadsides featured just two turrets) mounted.

This fearsome array would quickly become infamous amongst the Clans as a Pilot's worst nightmare!  Optimized to deal with hostile aerospace fighters, the Scorpion Congress III proved capable of targeting, engaging, and killing entire fighter Clusters at one time!

The anti-ship armaments were not neglected, either.  Two dozen Class 25 Naval Autocannon were mounted in a dozen twin turrets (six turrets each in the port and starboard broadsides) . . . with each turret supplied with their own magazine containing 100 bursts of fire (50 per NAC-25).

In addition, the Ravens increased fuel stores dramatically and nearly tripled the amount of ferro-carbide armor plating fitted to the ships.  The single 90-meter grav deck was removed and replaced with a pair of 115-meter contra-rotating units and the shipboard cooling and power distribution network overhauled with the addition of nearly 1,100 tons of additional sinks and generators.

The final result was a frigate that posed a very real threat to any target (be it a fighter, a DropShip, or a WarShip) that was able to protect more valuable members of the Fleet from hostile attack.  Although many Naval officers derided the design due to the concentration of its main anti-ship weapons in the narrow broadsides arcs, Aerospace and OmniFighter Pilots approached these ships with extreme caution.

Despite their undisputed effectiveness in their designed role, few other Clans were interested in the design of the Congress III.  As a result, only two known examples exist (CGSS Bernlad and CGSS Garlon), both of which are part of the Scorpion Fleet.

SOVETSKII SOYUZ II

Overview

Starting in 2989, the Ravens began work on the Scorpion Flagship, CGSS Serket.  A Sovetskii Soyuz-class Heavy Cruiser, the Scorpion leadership intended for this ship (and two others that remained in mothballs in the Dagda Naval Cache) to serve as a mobile Clan Headquarters for Khan, the saKhan, and the Loremaster, respectively.

The original design called for a radical increase in engine power that would deliver greater thrust; however, Raven engineers were able to convince the Scorpions that such an intensive endeavor would require far more time and resources than Clan Goliath Scorpion was willing (or able) to devote to the project.

Instead, the Ravens suggested (and the Scorpions reluctantly accepted) a much simpler rebuild that concentrated on improving command and communications, as well as enhancing the armor, weaponry, and cooling/power generation equipment.

The refit of Serket would require a full six years, with the Flagship reentering the Scorpion Fleet in 2994.  SLS Vancover (reflagged as CGSS Hephaestus) entered the Raven yards in 2995 and emerged in 3000, while SLS Biloxi (subsequently redesignated as CGSS Atropos) started her refit in 3001 and completed it in 3006.

Capabilities

The heart of the new Scorpion command ships was a massive 8,300-ton command center installed deep within the core of the Heavy Cruiser.  Manned by 83 former Warriors, Scientists, Merchants, and Technicians, and supported by a dozen additional Comm-Scanner techs, this installation and its personnel enables the Khans (and the Loremaster) to govern and direct the Clan even when absent from the Homeworlds or the Pentagon.

Directly connected into the onboard ship's HPG, the massive datastores of the Clan Command HQ allows the Clan's leadership to maintain real-time communications and control over the Clan.

In a similar fashion to the earlier rebuilt Lola IV-class Destroyers, the Ravens also installed a Large Naval Comm-Scanner Suite aboard the command ships.  This installation not only steamlines communications to-and-from the vessel (both real-space and HPG), but also gives the leadership far greater sensor reach and resolution.

The Ravens completely overhauled the existing power production and cooling system, installing some 3,250 tons of additional sinks and generators.  This would allow the Sovetskii Soyuz II to maintain a constant barrage of fire, even with the newly upgraded weapons array.

Armor protection was also increased, by a much smaller margin (just 390 tons).

The original weapons package was removed and replaced with a more consistent array of weaponry that fit the nature of the new ships far better.

The twin Killer Whale launchers of the original design (mounted in the nose) were instead replaced with three Barracuda launchers, each independently fed by a dedicated 50-missile magazine.  Eight NL-45 Naval Lasers (in two bays of four guns each) were also fitted, providing the Scorpion command ships with a greatly increased sting on the nose.  For anti-fighter work, eight Large Pulse Lasers (once again in two four-gun turrets) were added as well.

While the removal of the Killer Whales eliminated the ability of the rebuilt Cruisers to fire nuclear ordnance, the Scorpions do not appear to be concerned with the lack of a delivery system for WMDs.  Although surprised, the Raven engineers gleefully eliminated the heavy missile launchers, while noting to their pilots that the Scorpion command ships would be far more lethal targets to aerospace fighter and Omnifighter attacks.

The fore-quarters saw a doubling of the number of Barracuda launchers (from one to two, each with a 50-missile magazine) and an increase from 3 NL-45 Naval Lasers to eight.  Additionally, 8 Large Pulse Lasers were added to this arc as well.

The stern, which on the original design had not mounted any weaponry, was completely rebuilt to accommodate the same warloard as the fore-quarters arcs.

The broadsides and stern-quarters sacrificed their triple NAC-20 Naval Autocannon mounts in favor of four slightly heavier NAC-25s (in two twin-gun mounts).  Although not quite as capable of delivering as heavy a blow as the earlier triple NAC-20 mounts, the overall damage potential increased dramatically.  Each twin mount was provided with their own independent magazine containing 100 bursts of fire.

The twin Medium Naval PPCs were retained, but six additional weapons of this type were added to each of the broadside and stern-quarters arcs.  Arranged in two four-gun arrays, the M-NPPCs provide the Scorpion Cruisers with heavy long-ranged firepower to supplement the hard-hitting (but shorter ranged) NACs.

Finally, all four broadsides and stern-quarters arcs received eight Large Pulse Lasers (in four-gun turrets).

In a departure from conventional Clan thinking, the Scorpions directed the Ravens to remove the fifth docking collars from Serket and to not install this extra unit on the two previously mothballed vessels. 

This freed up enough tonnage to provide the Cruisers with a full 83,000 tons of cargo storage volume, in addition to a year's supply of fuel and provisions!

However, internal corridors were reconstructed to allow room for a full binary of Elemental Marines, while the fighter complement was increased a binary as well.  Further, space was provided for a full-strength Star of small craft, as well as the accommodation of up to 174 passengers (in a mix of standard and 1st-class staterooms).

The old grav decks were removed and replaced with four 115-meter diameter units mounted in contra-rotating pairs directly ahead of the engine mountings.

Although still slow to accelerate and sometimes difficult to maneuver, the newly introduced Sovetskii Soyuz IIs have managed to raise eyebrows across the Clans.  However, to date, only the Ravens have converted one of their existing ships to this new standard:  CSRS Storm Crow.  However, rumors on the Chatter-Web suggest that the Ravens may be planning on overhauling both White Cloud and Avalanche as well.  Only time will tell.

MCKENNA II

Overview

The final ship of the Scorpion Touman entered the Raven shipyards in 3007 . . . and it would be eight years (3014) before the work on the (former) McKenna-class Battleship Lei Kung was complete.  Unlike many of the other capital WarShips of the Scorpion Fleet, Lei Kung was rebuilt and redesigned purely for combat operations . . . not command, nor control, but instead to serve Clan Goliath Scorpion as the mailed fist should the Clan's opponents test the patience of the Scorpion Khans too much.

The final result was a masterpiece, combining a fearsome array of weaponry with armor protection equal to that of the SLDF Texas-class . . . and a robust cooling and power generation array able to handle the enormous requirements of those powerful guns.

To date, the Scorpions retain exclusive rights to the exact specifications of what they have labeled as the McKenna II.  However, in 3027 the Ravens revealed their version when CSRS James McKenna exited the Lum Yards.  Although similar to the Scorpion rebuild of CGSS Lei Kung, the restored and refitted Raven ship had enough differences (primarily in weaponry) that the furious Scorpion Khans were forced to simply grit their teeth in frustration.

Capabilities

The Raven engineers (and Khans) were initially taken aback by the preliminary specifications that the Goliath Scorpions provided for their rebuild of CGSSLei Kung.

Already a member of what many (in the Clans and Inner Sphere) considered the penultimate expression of an SLDF Battleship, the concepts put forward by the Scorpions would take that ancient Star League WarShip forward into an entirely new era.

The two dozen Kreuss XX Heavy Naval PPCs in the broadsides and stern arcs remained, but the Scorpions added two four-gun turrets of Kolibri Series Delta Large Pulse Lasers to each arc as well.  These guns provided some needed point-defense against hostile aerospace and Omnifighters for only a marginal decrease in cargo capacity.

But the remaining four arcs were gutted and the existing weapons completely replaced.

The two fore-quarters and stern were given identical batteries.  Two Gamma Series SM-25 Killer Whale capital missile launchers (each with the capacity for 50 missiles in their magazines) and two Delta Series SM-22 White Shark capital missile launchers added to the anti-fighter capacity, while also providing the McKenna II with a fearsome ability to inflict both conventional and nuclear damage against a hostile capital ship (or a hardened target on a planetary surface).  A four-gun battery of Thunderbolt-55 Class 55 Naval Lasers was added next; these weapons included the latest software upgrades allowing them to serve in anti-fighter mode as well as to engage in bracketing fire.  For close-in engagements, there were also two two-gun batteries of Zeus-20 Class 20 Naval Autocannon (each gun with a 50-round magazine).  Although individually lighter than the old Zeus-40's originally mounted (and capable of inflicting less raw damage), the Zeus-20's possessed twice the range of the older guns.  Finally, two four-gun turrets of Kolibri Series Delta Large Pulse Lasers were added.

But it was the nose arc where the greatest changes occurred.  The Scorpions insisted on two batteries of four Thunderbolt NL-55s and two four-gun turrets of Kolibri Series Delta Large Pulse Lasers.  But these guns were only supporting the four massive Mark 7 (Heavy) Mod A Heavy Naval Gauss Cannons (each with a 50 shot magazine)!  Arranged in two two-gun batteries, the Mark 7 (Heavy) provided the McKenna II with an incredible amount of forward firepower that simply dwarfed the older ships.

Further plans called for the installation of an additional 746 tons of cooling units and power generators . . . allowing the new ship to fire all of her massive armament simultaneously!

But the Scorpions were not finished.  Fighter complement was expanded to two full-strength Omnifighter Trinary (60 in total), while 150 Elemental Marines were embarked (a Binary).  Two additional grav decks were added and all four were consolidated to 145-meter diameter contra-rotating units.  Personnel space was expanded to accommodate up to 582 passengers in addition to the crew and bay personnel.  While the six docking collars were retained, the Small Craft complement was reduced from 16 to 10.

But it was the final demand of the Scorpions that almost caused the Raven Khans to reject the design.  An additional 547.5 tons of ferro-carbide armor was intended for installation . . . this would provide the McKenna II with the same level of protection as existing Clan Texas-class Battleships!  (Although the exact armor scheme was arranged slightly differently.)

All of these improvements were paid for with a significant decrease in onboard cargo capacity:  the McKenna II lost 62,256.5 tons of cargo space for a final total of 193,270 tons.  This was exclusive of the 14,513 tons of fuel and fuel pumping equipment as well as the 2,592 tons of food, provisions, and water.  These levels of fuel and provisioning allowed the McKenna II to operate (in theory) for up to one standard year before requiring any sort of resupply.  This ability more than made up for the loss of general cargo space, in the views of the Scorpion Khans.

Of course, the Scorpions also retained the existing HPG transmitter and the Lithium-Fusion Batteries that came standard with Clan McKennas. 

The end result was a highly effective Battleship combining firepower as well as heavy armor protection . . . prompting several Khans to call for the refit of SLS McKenna's Pride.  Unfortunately, bickering over who should pay for the ship's refit quickly sank that proposal.

Hopefully, I will start to post some of the ground units (all built around the 350XL and 360XL fusion engines, just as the OmniFighters were) soon.

CAMERON II

Fluff text will follow, but I am changing one part of the Black Fleet:  rather than sell off the GSS Hephaestus (a Cameron-class Battle Cruiser), the Scorpions instead decide to refit the ship.  It will be assigned as the transport for the 13th Scorpion Shock Cluster--the mailed fist of the Scorpion Touman.  Comprised solely of Dune Stalker OmniMechs, supported by Elementals and OmniFighters, the Harbingers of Misfortune (or Bad Luck Brigade as some refer to it!) serves the Scorpions as a heavy reserve.  By using this modified Cameron as their transport, it adds some punch to the unit.  And I think that you guys will like the modifications.  Note that every single capital weapon can reach out and touch someone at extreme range!  Anyway, fluff will come when it comes . . . sorry for the delay, but real life has been . . . well, it has been rough lately.  But enjoy and let me know what you think.

LEGACY

Once again, the fluff will follow (eventually), but the Legacy-class Frigate has been added (raising the Scorpion's total WarShip strength to 12 vessels; four assigned to the Keshiks and 13th Shock Cluster; the remaining eight in the Scorpion Naval Star).  I decided to add this ship because I felt the Scorpion Naval Star needed another heavy hitter; the Congress-class modifications I made are wonderful escort ships, but don't pack a very heavy punch.  This little guy does.

Backstory will be that the Scorpion leadership finds the last Riga-class Frigate existing in a Clan Burrock Naval Cache (as per canon, Wars of Reaving, the vessel was the SLS Hetherington (sp??), I do believe).  Launching a Trail of Possession for the long abandoned vessel, the Scorpions narrowly win . . . incurring the hatred of the Burrocks.  Whose only consolation is that they did manage to win a separate Trail for possession of one or more lineages of the Moreau blood-name!

Anyway, it starts a feud between the two Clans.  But the ship itself is handed over to the Ravens and not only restored to fighting prime, but rebuilt to match the new WarShips of the Scorpion Black Fleet.  As shown below.

Once again, fluff is not finished.  But I took some of Takiro's advice to heart about needing some dedicated Transports in the Clan.  And what I decided upon was to retain the two Aegis-class Cruisers.  Bear with me, here.  The Scorpions convert these two ships into dedicated transport vessels, stripping them of nearly all of their offensive armament and leaving only light defenses.  These ships are slower and they are OLD (over seven hundred years old at the time of Operation Revival!). 

So, they aren't on active duty.  Instead, they are in mothball reserve against a situation that might arise that has the Scorpions returning to the Inner Sphere or fleeing the Homeworlds.  And (AND), the Scorpions decided to make them into Yardships.  No, they can't service the Scorpion's McKenna.  But each one contains a Unpressurized Repair Bay able to handle any other DropShip, JumpShip, or WarShip in Scorpion service.  And an onboard factory complex to build new parts and handle the repairs.  Are they as good as a Faslane or Newgrange?  Of course not!  But they add some needed technical support to the Scorpion Touman.

Yeah, they ain't no Potemkins.  But, they can serve in a pinch and have a very good amount of cargo space and (with my conversion) the capacity for a large quantity of passengers (well, relative to canon designs, at least!).  Anyway, hope you like the Aurora and Corona.

the Corona class ship looks really nice, also it would and could be of use to other Clans which may not need larger repair bays

Great minds think alike masterarminas, in my planned Clan Fleet Overhaul I had older and slower (2/3 thrust) warships being phased out for newer ships of Clan construction. However much like your Aegis (minus the mobile yards in my vision) these ships were dedicated military transports with light armament left onboard to deter would be raiders. I did not see a yardship or tender but hey you know what it is an intriguing possibility.
