Design Challenge: a Sub Capital Interceptor

the rules are simple  design a warship, this warship may only mount Sub Capital weapons, and must fit within the Corvette Class range of no more then 200,000 tons.

This is the Growler-class Corvette.

At 180,000 tons, it is not the largest of naval vessel, nor is it the smallest. An experimental warship fitted entirely with sub-capital weapons to deal specifically with Dropships. As it is more of a system defense craft, it is designed to stay in space operations for a 90-day tour, though it can stay on patrol for additional 10 days befroe resupply is mandatory. With this in mind, the amount of ammunition carried by the Growler is just slighly above minimu levels as resupply is relatively close at hand.

For long range fire, a full dozen Piranha launchers are evenly space aroung the hull. For heavier close-in firepower, sixteen Medium SubCap cannons cover the fore, aft and the broadsides. Additionally eight Swordfish missile launcers are split between the two broadside arcs. The laser battery consists of thirty-six Medium SubCap lasers spread generously across the hull of the Growlers.

As of this printing, there are only six Growlers, four stationed in the Quatre Belle system plus an additional two at Alpheratz.

Here's another smaller vessel which would be more of a system vessel than the previous one I posted. All of the weapons are lighter in striking power.  However, a small number of Medium Subcap Cannons are carried along with a dozen Swordfish launchers for additional firepower.

Just imagine what you could with purpose-built DropShips with the SubCap weapons. Talk about in-system defenses. This would cut down on the need for Warships to be on station, except in the most important of systems

I didn't build this one (but it deserves a mention) I think it was Giovanni on the CBT forum that came up with it originally, plan to find a use for it at some point  ;)

Really, as long as there is an unbroken line of people calling themselves "Clan Nova Cat," it doesn't really matter to me if they're still using Iron Wombs or not. They may be dead as a faction, but as a people they still exist. It's not uncommon in the real world, after all.
