Given the spread of GBs through the SD-SS perhaps some guidelines for converting regular DSs to simple GBs might be nice, they would quite likely pop up and unlike the specific designs in TRO2800 they would probably be to diverse to list.
Suggestion
Aerodyne:
- DS can mount missiles in any arc.
Sphereoid:
- DS can only mount missiles in side arcs.
Missile tubes and missiles must be fitted into existing bays. Bay tonnage must not be moved during conversion so a 2000 ton bay can hold 2000 tons of missile tubes and the missiles for them. Missiles for these tubes cant be stored in other bays except as cargo. Additional crew quarters for the missile operators may be mounted anywhere.
A bay must be assigned to one firing arc and no weapons fitted in there might be aimed at other arcs. If you want a converted ship to have both front side and rear side weapons it must mount weaponry in two bays. The arcs are: Nose, front sides, rear sides and aft. The side arcs are double so half the weaponry is mounted on either side. If a side bay is hit by enemy fire the damage destroys the weaponry on both sides of the GB since it is mounted in the same bay without the compartmentation normaly used on fighting ships.
Civilian ships have limited ability to control long ranged capital missiles so these weapons suffer a +1 penalty when fired at targets outside standard weapons range.
