One thing in the Scorp's favour. They were not idiots who were slaved to the past. They actually learned and applied lessons from the past.  They'd recognise that their ships are vulnerable and it might take a new Khan to bring them in line and get them away from 'the good shit' they were injecting to do so. But the Scorpions were smart.

I am not saying they are slaves to the past but why would a poor Clan purchase a Nightlord? That craft has no historic significance but the others might well have. Like a community which wants to preserve its character how much would this Clan want to modify its ships? Would they agree to an upgrade, most likely especially if it improves their vessel's survivability. I would not call the Scorpions dumb just monumentally unfocused as a Clan. They seem to have many things going at the same time and a shadowy end goal if you can call it that. Just my opinion.

Aye them getting a Nightlord built always threw me.   In reality they were very much a 2nd or even 3rd rate Clan where it mattered, on the ground in terms of size.  Their Warriors when not off their tits on Necrosia were amazingly good and this went some way to making up for it, but they were also IIRC very dependent on the largess of the Wolves for support who -demanded- it in return, were also quite 2nd line or SLDF era mech refit heavy and had few Omni's to call their own.  And yet they spent a huge amount of Kerensky's on a battleship, and have the largest collection of Potemkins, ships which are by all accounts hard to maintain and keep running, outside of the Ravens and Sharks.  And there's basically no way on earth they would ever need that kind of transport capacity for their Tourman if you also factor in the Nightlord.

You could use a Potemkin as an Ersatz Battleship, its got a hell of a slap if needs be, but really they need to trade those resource hogs away or at least 50% of them.

As FM Warden says it was recently acquired and I saw somewhere in all this research I'm doing in the other thread that the last was produced in 3019. So it could have been gained recently as Isorla or via a Trial of Possession.

Fluff is up on the McKenna.  And yes, Takiro, I remember our discussions on the Scorpion fleet quite well.  I'm just taking a bit of a different tack here.

Anyway, I don't see anyone really wanting to take on the Einheriar Naval Star!  One heavy vessel that provides the lion's share of the firepower (the Lei Kung) with a close-in escort (frigate Scorpio) that still has pretty nifty amounts of anti-ship firepower!  And then, four lighter escorts (all destroyers) to keep hostiles at a distance.  All supported by SIXTEEN Warden-class Assault DropShips and 120 OmniFighters!  And 300 Marine Elementals!

Add the Serket and this is just about the perfect (in my opinion) Clan Naval Star arrangement.  Or Battlegroup as the Scorpions term it in canon.  Which, to be honest, I like more than Naval Star . . . but, it doesn't really fit with Clan tradition, does it?

Anyway.  That is all for today.
