Hellion's Pride
By canon, we know that three Mako-class Corvettes journeyed on the Exodus and survived until the Wars of Reaving. Two (Ingrid Bucharev and Stone Crab) were reactivated from Naval Caches by the reborn Clan Burrock; the third (Fuchida) was operated by either the Dark Caste or the Society . . . it isn't clear which.
But why were the Makos left in the caches to begin with? The most maneuverable and fastest to accelerate WarShips ever built, they would appeal to one Clan which values speed and light-weight designs over slow-moving, heavier chassis'. I speak, my friends, of Clan Ice Hellion.
From canon, the Hellions owned three Fredasa-class corvettes . . . 25,000 tons lighter than the Mako and slower (5/8 thrust vs. 6/9!!). Certainly, the Fredasa is a good ship, but we can do better for our pack-mates, quiaff?

Yeah, we changed up the weapons. We got rid of the big heavy NAC-20s and NAC-25s, the NL-35s, the Light and Medium N-PPCs, and all secondary guns. Instead, our design mounts seven NL-45s in single mounts (one each in the fore-quarters, broadsides, stern-quarters, and aft), one White Shark missile launcher (with 50 . . . yeah, you heard me, FIFTY missiles stored), and a Heavy Naval PPC; the latter two mounted in the nose.
Why, you ask? Good question. The NL-45s give good all-around coverage to our new Pride and Joy (sorry, couldn't resist), while the White Shark provides crit-seeking goodness and the H-N-PPC excellent punch. Plus with our maneuverability, this means that we can almost always keep our nose pointed at the enemy!
Secondary weapons: we know from canon designs that the Hellions like missiles (. . . and they cannot lie). So, we put missiles on your missiles, dawg. Yo. Each arc mounts three triple-mount LRM-15 launchers with Artemis IV (40 salvoes per launcher) and three triple-mount Streak SRM-6 packs (with 30 salvoes per launcher): seventy-two LRM-15s and another seventy-two SRM-6s for a total salvo size of 1,512 missiles (plus one White Shark) each and every round (well, if the Streaks lock, that is).
Egads! Now, THAT is a missile corvette, paw-paw! The cooling system gets reworked so that we can fire EVERYTHING in one massive salvo. Plus, we saved enough tonnage to add a docking collar and ten fighter bays. Yeah. Armor was changed to ferro-carbide and we mount 200 tons giving us a really tough hide (for a 200,000 ton WarShip, that is!).
AND we were able to expand cargo space by nearly 200% to over 2,500 tons (yeah, the cargo sucks, but 2,500 is better than 900 any day of the week, am I right?).
Sure, we lost some throw-weight. Sure, this thing carries less fuel than other Clan designs, along with less air and life support and food and water, giving it roughly one-third the endurance. But we also added Lithium-fusion batteries and an HPG . . . and that has got to be worth something. Besides, with our new found docking collar, we can always tack on a Mule with additional supplies if we really need it.
Yeah, it doesn't have that massive 50-point punch that the Mako of old had. But overall, I think it is a better ship. Overall, firepower is just about the same . . . with pretty much better range across the board. It ain't quite so concentrated anymore, but that is a tactical problem that the Hellions are used to handling.
Okay, then. How about we replace those three Hellion Fredasas (Hellion's Pride, Swift Bait, and Whelp) with these ships? Doesn't THAT make more sense to you? It does to me. And it gives the Hellions THE fastest WarShips in the known Galaxy. Tell me that ain't something an Ice Hellion wants to boast about.
