Doing some research for the Firestarter today bought me to the Battle of Skye during the 3rd Succession War circa 2895 (House Steiner SB page 67). One of the fiercest battles of the conflict was marked by a return of unrestricted warfare typical of the first two Succession Wars which resulted in the destruction of Argile Technologies and huge swathes of the planet (TRO3025 under the Firestarter).
This got me to wondering on a whole nother topic - would there be any interesting in assembling a Fanbook on the 3rd Succession War? Detailing battles like Skye over this hundred years long conflict might take a few volumes but could be rewarding. Was wondering what you guys thought??

I recall some speculation that CGL will do a third official sourcebook in the Succession Wars series (and maybe a fourth), but I don't recall anything official, and with their publication schedule...
Something would be possible, with some data-mining.

One of Catalysts line developers hinted at this being a possibility in a conversation a week or so ago while talking about sourcebooks on the Facebook page

i'd love to see this

Yes, either fan made or official

Alright guys, it sounds like a popular project. I haven't heard anything official from TPTB but this would make a great deal of sense as it is baseline BattleTech which still seems to be pretty popular. Level 1 rules have really never gone out of style and from what Bradshaw tells me from his journeys on Facebook that this era still remains extremely well regarded.

I messaged the guy and nothing is officially in the works at this time though the idea has been batted around

I am in.

Well depending on time available we could do some data mining here which would probably rely heavily on the old House Sourcebooks and TRO3025.

Talk to Xotl on CBT, he has already made a big start on a fan project like this.
Also, look at the Release Schedule. Battle of Dahlgren in is there - it's 3rd War, but focused on a particular campaign. Should answer your questions about the official approach for the 3rd War.

I saw some of his work, pretty awesome! That includes his Blazer Awesome. ;)
