Tactics Discussion: Terrain Denial
« on: July 20, 2011, 09:35:08 AM »

Hey all, been awhile since my last installment discussing some of the various flavors of tactics I use while playing BT.  This current one relates to controlling the battlefield to maximize terrain to give yourself a statistical edge in every game you play.  Check it out here: http://www.ourbattletech.com/2011/tactics-discussion-terrain-denial/.  I'd be interested to hear your thoughts and any experiences using the precepts of this strategy in your prior or future games.

It was a great piece. I really appreciated the statistical breakdown of the to-hit w/ modifiers. A perfect illustration as to why terrain usage is so important. Definitely an art and a science - one of those, "practice makes perfect" bits. Thanks Klink!

WORD (of Blake) is good for two things. 1. Leaving inappropriate notes on other people's work. 2. Adding fake words (of Blake) to the dictionary.

Thanks!  Initially I wrote it without the statistics portion and I just felt it was missing something.  I tried to keep the stats down to a minimum, while still illustrating that getting that extra +1 can really be huge, especially when we're talking about numbers between 6-8 because each increment has a huge impact on the likelihood of a hit.  I'm glad you like that part.
