Maelstrom or Jager III are both possibilities, aka have the minis already.

Nightstar, I may need to repaint.  Which nightstar, ACs or Gauss'?

The AC variant, which shares a movement profile with the Templar, was what I had in mind.  There's nothing wrong with Gauss, though.

Given the unit this will belong to, I say ACs work.  (Capellan March Malitia)

I've got that shiny new stealth Pillager from one of our last missions.  I'm wondering, what should I do with it.  Piotrowski's Predators are primarily comprised of calvary or faster units.  But it would be nice to have at least one anchor unit.  I'm trying to decide though, do I want a combination of all stealthed heavy and assault 'Mechs or should I go with a pure assault lance?  I've got some ideas, but looking for some others.  Here's what I got so far:

Pure Stealth:

Pillager 4Z
Crusaders 7L
Cataphract 4L
Emperor 6L

Pure Assault:

Pillager 4Z
Emperor 6L
Emperor 6A
Sunder Omni

Obviously, the pure stealth is a stand-off sniper lance that is harder to hit while it's sniping.  The pure assault lance is a split, the Pillager and the Emperor 4L hang back, using their can openers for the Emperor 6A and Sunder to come in and crit seek.  Sunder gives the lance flexibility to adapt slightly to the situation as well.

Firstly, there are no Emperor 4Ls, only 6Ls & 7Ls.  Both are stealth, the 6L being Gauss/ER PPC, and the 7L being dual AC/10 & an ER Large Laser.

Personally, I love the pure stealth gunline.  The EMP-6A Emperor isn't going to be fast enough on an advance to get too much ahead of such a gunline anyway, and you might find that putting it up front the XL Engine doesn't make it weather fire too well.

Opps, I meant the EMP-6L....editted above.  I know, the stealth lance is pretty sexy...I just feel like we all have a lot of fire support already and some heavy tanking and brawling could be useful.  I know those heavy and assault stealths are still decently durable...but they aren't fusion engine assault durable either.

That's true, but I'd put the Cataphract & Crusader's standard fusion engine on par with an 80-85 ton Assault w/XL in terms of potential survivability.  It's not a horrible compromise.

Good point.  Any other stealth options I should consider?

Is the Warhammer 5L out yet? Dual Plasmas is nice. There are also some nice Marauders and the Archer.

No, unfortunately it's got a long way to go.

Perhaps the VTR-10L Victor could interest you.  It's a little down on firepower but it's durable as all get out.

I do like the Victor 10L, but you're right, it's pretty undergunned.  What about the Archer 7L?  I feel like the Crusader 7L is slightly better, if still a little undergunned, the Crusader has some decent close range weaponry.  I feel like the Crusader actually edges the Archer out, if only slightly.

The Emperor 6L and Cataphract 4L are very similar, both sporting an ER PPC and Gauss Rifle as main guns.  The EMP 6L has 4 MPLs for close support while the Cataphract has only 2 ERMLs.  The Cataphract is a bit faster on average, while the EMP 6L has TSM.  Is it worth 20 extra EPs for the EMP over the Cataphract?

The Marauder 5L is a bit underwhelming, unable to take advantage of the weapons and stealth on a consistent basis.  It's more one of those stealth 'Mechs that uses stealth to cover it's approach while helping it heat up to activate TSM by the time it closes and drops stealth.  I'd like it more with a LPL instead of the ERPPC.

The Crusader is the superior LRM unit.  I can't stand Archers.  The overwhelming majority of them can't fight their way out of a wet paper sack, because it's closer to them than 5 hexes.  In my experience, the CRD-7L can be a brutal combatant, with almost Assault 'Mech durability and plenty of close-range firepower.

Cataphract vs. Emperor is really a personal preference choice.  Generally speaking, I go for the cheaper and faster Cataphract, which is 90% as effective as the Emperor is.  Choose the Emperor only if you need the extra point-blank firepower or are really worried about having to wade through some ridiculous firepower.

The MAD-5L is sexy looking, but is a pretty underwhelming performer.  It really belongs in a brawler lance, which isn't what you're looking to make anyway.

Not sure what to do with my current heavy mauler lance.  It's currently comprised of:

Flashman 8K
Thunderbolt 5Sb
Catapult C6
Grasshopper 6Kr (custom design - http://www.solaris7.com/TRO/HTMLBattleMech/BattlemechInfo.asp?ID=14938)

Currently it really has no direction, but I'm invisioning it as a city fighting, close quarters, brawler unit, with above average anti-convention unit capabilities.  I think I want to harness those attributes which is why I really think I should drop the Flashman....that said, I don't know what to replace it with.  That's were your ideas come in.  Any help or thoughts is appreciated.

A Victor is always a good choice for close combat/urban fights.

Good point, but then the Yu Huang isn't that much more expensive (in our campaign) and has the same movement profile...abet its XL for all variants, while the Victor can be standard fusion.  Would you recommend the UAC version?  Or the standard with Precision ammo for extra accuracy, especially while jumping?
