Quick question?

Thoughts on the Vanquisher and/or Titan or other heavier replacements with C3i? I'm thinking, rather than build a basic SLDF/Word of Blake General unit, I'd like to create something more modern, using newer designs. If you had to create two Level IIs using anything short of the WoB's Celestial Omnis, what would it be and why?

Generally, I'm in favor of either the Vanquisher or the King Crab.  both can through some serious firepower downrange using C³i.  The EMP-6M Emperor is also surprisingly effective.

The Titan/Titan II actually lack C3i, designed more for the militia units.
The Vanquisher is exceedingly nasty as part of a C3i lance. Lots of armor but only 8 point damage groupings tend to put it low on most people's list of threats. But with 4 of those a turn, they add up (especially with the range and brackets for the light gauss).

Newer Assault 'Mechs?  The Word has a shiny new Viking variant, great if you enjoy spamming missiles.  Also, they have some crazier stuff too, like a Marauder II that jumps 5 hexes.  Very hard to kill.

What, you didn't like CRAB, CRAB, CRAB & CRAB?   ;D

How about Griffin, Phoenix Hawk, Raijin II?

Yeah, laser zombies are awesome.  The Crab is great.  It doesn't have a lot of flash or pizzazz, but its solid.  Anything that moves 5/8/5 or 6/9/6 are evasive and typically have decent durability due to that evasiveness.

I wholeheartedly second everything in that post.  Even the winky-smiley face.

If you want to continue getting into a new-toy syndrome, go with a Blue Flame.  Modern Shadow Hawks are also nice.

And remember, everything we're suggesting to you has at least one variant designed to use C3i.  I can not emphasize that enough.  If you don't know what weapons are on those variants, Sarna.net is a good place to start.

The Preta Dominus is pretty nasty. 6/9/8 with four ER MLs synced to a targeting computer.

I like the Crab, I just wanted to hear about some more. I like picking your collective brains for information while I work on...errr, other projects.  :D

Good link. Thanks!

But if you want modern forces, this list will seriously go down.
