What do you think of an Assault Lvl II and a Cavalry Lvl II?

I'd say that ideally, any Level II should use C³i and thereforce consist of two separate elements - the battle element and the spotter/support element.  If you make an Assault Level II, have two fast Mediums as spotters.  If you have a Cavalry Lvl II, have at least two heavies with decent ground-speed and a lot of throw-weight.

Here's my shot at it...

Cavalry:
Flashman 9C
Raijin 101-C
Bombardier 14C
Lancelot 04
Dragon Fire 4FC (Fire Support)
Thug 12E (Fire Support)

Assault:
Crab 45 (Spotter)
White Flame 3B (Spotter)
Highlander 736
Grand Crusader D-03
Cerberus MR-6B
Deva Omni (Customize as you wish)

Slightly different take, a little lighter and faster overall.  Could be pretty brutal.

If you had to mix in some BA/Infantry and some vehicles?

Exactly what I was thinking (and guys, I do agree with your comments on C3i).

Heavy Gauss Rifle Demon (to keep the C3i working and because Demon are a common vehicle for the Word of Blake) and Asura or Tornado for less prestigious units.

Just remember that Deva is Manei Domini-only 'Mech and the Asura is a Manei Domini battle armor.

MY SUGGESTION!  IT COMES!

"Outriders" Level II
Bombardier
Excalibur
Lancelot
Phoenix Hawk
(seriously, get yourself a new one of these no matter who you play)
Wraith
Mercury
(replace this guy with a new Ostscout as soon as you can)

"Two-prongs" Level II
Black Knight
Shootist
Highlander
Emperor
or Legacy (awww yeah get yourself a Legacy man.  Badass 'Mech with a badass mini)
Kintaro
Hussar

And yes, all of those have at least one C3i variant now.  What I want to say is that the old ComStar minis you have are basically now labeled "Word of Blake General" and can be used from the lowly Blake Protectorate Militia all the way up to the Shadow Divisions.  Get yourself TRO 3060 and TRO 3067 -- those contain the new Word of Blake designs that are procured more often for the more high-ranking Word of Blake Militia units, as well as the Shadow Divsions.  When you eventually look into TRO 3075, that's when you get the very cream of the crop designed primarily for the big bad cyborgs.

Sheng, if I wanted to have these mixed, what would you swap out? Vehicles, BA, both?

Also, why the Bombardier? Sure it's fast, but light on the Ammunition bins...

Any other suggestions? It can be any mini. I'm compiling my "purchase" list.

Thanks!

Well, if it's not a 'Mech, it's usually a tank for me.

There's a Puma with 3 MML7s and a Heavy PPC (rejoice! you can still use your minis), the aforementioned Heavy Gauss Demon, and if you want death by papercuts, there's the Word of Blake versions of LRM and Streak SRM carriers.  Spotter vehicles include zippy Galleon tanks and Zephyr hovercraft (get the one with TAG).  I'm sure I'm missing a few vehicles recently added to the universe with TRO 3075 and 3085 ONN, but those are the main elements with C3i for you.  When mixing them into a Level II, it's best to put them in pairs, since two friendly tanks can fit in one hex for gameplay purposes.  That, or you could stagger them so they can cover each other should you be swarmed by infantry.

I like the Bombardier because it fits well with the Excalibur for cavalry fire support.  The more missiles you have flying downrange, the more likely it is you'll be bring down targets in 2-3 turns, and the more threatening you appear to be.  It's all about the volume.  (quick note for Ken: GO TEAM SEMI-GUIDED!)

I also have a couple of Rhinos. Worth keeping around?

What about a Regulator? I know it's not Wobbie, but is a Gauss armed HoverTank worth getting my hands on?

Lastly, what four 'Mechs would you dump to be replaced by tanks? Just curious.

Thanks again for your help!

I would just give yourself another Level II, all vehicles:

2 Zephyrs
2 Pumas 007 or 008s - Depending on if you like HPPC or ERPPC
2 Bollas

Each Bolla can carry 2 Platoons of BA, one on the outside because it's omni and 1 inside it's 6 ton bay.

I'd probably just roll with Purifier Adaptives, change weapons based on mission.

Alternatively, you could get 2 Schiltons for flexibility and Arrow IV support to replace the Pumas or Bollas and Purifiers if the need arises.  Arrow IV is pretty epic.

If you want to use Rhinos and Regulators, put them in a separate Level II.  They won't have any C3i to use, so they shouldn't be hanging out with the other units.  I specifically mentioned the Puma 007 because it has C3i.

For the purposes of putting it in my Q&A thread: If you had to drop 'Mechs, take out the Lancelot, the Highlander, and two others of your choice.  I -do not- recommend putting in vehicles without C3i just for the sake of having a mixed unit--it defeats the full potential of the system.  Same goes for Battle Armor.

Noted. I like the whole idea of using a mixed Level II for a more authentic feel, (damn I wish the Wobbies used the Clanner Point system when it comes to vehicles and ASFs...) but I think the Level II outlined will work well.

Looks like a third Level II is on the way!
