Hey gang, I am trying to find some canonical information about the 5th Royal Guards. I got this blurb from the old House Steiner Sourcebook....

In 2529, Archon Craig Steiner had the ornate, synth-marble ceilings raised and the floors around the royal thrones strengthened. Workers also installed huge doors on either side of the throne. All was in readiness on October 23, the Archon's birthday. When all the guests had gathered for the celebration, Craig Steiner stunned them by commanding that the two huge doors be opened. Out marched two Griffin BattleMechs from the now defunct 5th Royal Guards to stand at either side of the grinning Archon on his throne. Since then, in addition to the normal contingent of armed guards, it has become a tradition that two Griffins from the Archon's favorite unit stand guard in the Throne Room.
I thought I recalled a newer piece about this unit being a paper command on Tharkad perhaps for retirees or to screen new applicants but I can't find it.

Well thanks anyway Ice. I also posted over on CBT forums as well and had the same result to which I posted...
My memory ain't what it used to be. Covid? Age? Both??
Anyway as I fuzzily remember it that the 5th was nicknamed the Pride of the Archon. It was staffed by retired members of the active combat commands. Yes, these living legends help screen new members.
Maybe it was a fanatic? If you have any info please let me know. Thanks!

From my digging I found only rumors that people put forth based upon the naming of the others. Nothing canon related.

Thanks bud, maybe it was non canon aka fanfic. Still, I like the approach. Gonna use it for Salient Horizon.
