Reviewing 20 Year Update and Objective Raids sure does raise some questions about casualties of the era as well as intense raiding that followed the Truce of Tukayyid. My mission here will be to list some notable battles which followed the Truce and also explain why some units lost strength or were pulled from the Deployment List (cause they fought this Clan and where). Love to have some help!

Lets just start with plain InnerSphere casualty talk than shall we? So in January 3050 the AFFC according to 20 Year Update has a little more than 268 BattleMech regiments under arms which then sees a 81 regiment drop by January 3054 in Objective Raids. This new 187 BattleMech regiment force has some units that are still clearly recovering this time. One of my favorites, the 9th FedCom RCT, appears in Objective Raids on page 88 under Styk units within jump radius (30 light years) suggesting that after tangling with Clan Steel Viper at the second Battle of Twycross they were temporarily deactivated and moved to the Sarna March in order to rebuild. Calling them a Shattered Command I think this is pretty reasonable but it also shows that there is more to the FedCom's strength at this time than just 187 Mech commands.

Especially since the factories and training camps were producing at 200% capacity.

Do you have a citation for that Ice?

No but it is just common sense.
Imagine, tou have a technological superior, better trained (1 to 1) and overaggressive neighbour. Even if this guy says "trust me, I will hold the truce", what would you do?
-
I absolutely agree that the InnerSphere is on a war footing still after the invasion which it was not before the Clans arrived. Likely this footing was scaled back somewhat after the War of 3039.

If you check the FC units listed under the Tamar March in Objective Raids (p22), I think you will find what you are looking for.
For example, the Kikkuyu Command Area has 9 regiments, 1 battalion listed as its official 'Mech strength. However, eleven regiments are listed; most with some kind of diminished capacity. Most striking, is the Eridani Light Horse, the total strength is listed as 1 Regiment, 2 Battalions (with the 71st Light Horse Regiment not even listed).
Also, don't forget about the twelve mercenary regiments that either went AWOL or let their contracts expire. There is a list on p 6.

Thanks Ran! I will take a look and hopefully have some results here for you all soon.

Let me begin with the FedCom Corps of which I previously commented on - specifically the Ninth. Listing below from 20 Year Update (3050) and Objective Raids (3054). * shows any changes between the two listings.
This 12 regiment force has not changed much throughout the Clan War with only the 9th and 10th being moved from the Draconis March to the Clan front. It seems like the 9th in particular is a fighting formation with combat against a bandit king and the Clans on its resume but it has been removed from the rolls at this time in order to rebuild. I am in the process of going over FM Federated Suns and Lyran Alliance for further details but the 10th is basically used as a reserve garrison force utilized to plug any breach a renewed Clan push might make.
Three new unit commanders have been assigned and progression/regression is pretty much a non factor here. Only the 7th has been downgraded to questionable loyalty.

Looking next at the Deneb Light Cavalry, still have to look at FM Federated Suns for greater detail but here are the listings from 20 Year Update and Objective Raids. I will have to recheck for the 4th and 5th in Objective Raids when I get home. They are the first contingents of the DLC during the Succession Wars. If I remember correctly they did face some heavy raiding action against the Clans which you would expect as their specialty is rapid reaction force. They would be ideal for some fast strikes against the Jade Falcons, Steel Vipers, and Wolves. As research is not complete there are no conclusions as of yet.

I always liked the 9th FEDCOM. Darn Katherine.

Yeah me too, I'll get back to them one day. For now the Deneb Light Cavalry has got quite an interesting write up in FM AFFS. The Raid on Sudeten really got my attention and hopefully I will get something jotted down on that soon!

The Raid on Sudeten which occurred after Tukayyid (June 3052) but before Objective Raids was published (January 3054) featured the 5th and 12th Deneb Light Cavalry. Launched in response to intelligence which reported Clan Jade Falcon establishing a major base of operations on planet that included a stockpile of millions of tons of supplies as well as a holding center for political prisoners and POWs. Supporting the DLC in this operation were the 81st F-C and 403rd Lyran Independent Aero Regiments. What the reports failed to notice was the size of the Clan garrison on world which was more than a full Galaxy (the 12th Falcon Regulars were there on temporary assignment) and included an Aegis class Heavy Cruiser (the Jade Talon).
The consequences of this action did result in the successful rescue of several hundred POWs but the cost was staggering. The 12th which dropped right on top of the logistics depot was harshly greeted by the 12th Falcon Regulars failed to damage a single warehouse. Armored elements of the 5th were diverted to help but the 12th escaped with less than a third of its complement. The 5th lost almost 80 percent of its forces and the two aerowings (120 fighters total) only had 27 fighters survive the tangle with the Jade Talon. As you can see, the 5th was disbanded and the 12th was left with only a single battalion as of Objective Raids.
Pretty interesting, now with my setting we have a chance to redo this battle thanks to Hanse's foreknowledge of events to come. I'd love to hear what you think about the possibilities here. Would Hanse even remember this event as it could be described as minor in the overall scheme of things? Or would he have total recall about this event allowing the AFFC a redo? In such an event what would you do knowing the obstacles and the outcome of the canon Raid on Sudeten?? ;)

The main problem was the Jade Falcon WarShip waiting there for ...
Perhaps, trying to lure it away or wait a little before launching this raid?
-
Well here is what I was thinking....
1. Abort. I know this is cold but we could call the whole thing off as freeing the POWs had little effect in canon. Its not like their rescue spurred on any patriotic upsurge, nobody halt Lyran secession cause of this, maybe they aren't that important. Likewise the supplies are too heavily defended at the moment so lets save our bullets for another engagement.
2. Retask. Hit them where they ain't, while the POWs and the logistics center are priority targets for certain, the presence of additional forces here means they aren't somewhere else, perhaps there is something of value there.
3. Reinforce. Knowing the forces there we send even more folks to the party hoping to take the objectives in spite of the garrison we know that is there. Plus this time around we will be expecting them and maybe that foreknowledge is an advantage we can use. As a part of this perhaps we give up on the supplies and go all in on the POWs or reverse that.
Your diversion isn't a bad idea Ice but it sounds difficult to accomplish unless you attack nearby systems hoping to draw off units from the main target, Sudeten.
Trying to gather more information on the Jade Falcon Galaxy mentioned in the fluff but so far no specifics. :(
