High Test and I both saw the annihilation of Clan Nova Cat as a tragedy.  don't misunderstand, it moves the game forward, but we both admired this clan as being one of two with Rim Worlds founders, and now both are gone.

we decided to do something about that as we continued to hammer away at our pet project.  from our 3150 update under the diplomatic relations debriefing

Clan Nova Cat -

The Nova Cats were among the Elysian Republic’s earliest allies.  The ERS Georges Clemenceau was part of a Nova Cat fleet that liberated Dieron in 3072.

The battalion of the 832nd stationed on Irece was put on high alert when the Nova Cat rebellion began.  Fearing the worst, their CO readied the 832nd for evacuation.  As The DCMS closed in on the Nova Cats, Major Noam Steinitz offered safe refuge in Elysian space for any and all Nova Cat personnel.  Though Khan Nostra refused the offer, thirteen hundred warriors and civilians accepted, clamoring to the 832nd’s base with all of their worldly possessions.  As the fighting began on Irece, the 832nd, loaded down with refugees,  burned for their waiting jumpships.

The 832nd’s flotilla of three dropships had a harrowing escape from Irece. Major Noam Steinitz of the 832nd managed to get some nine hundred warriors and civilians off of Irece and out of the Combine.

Now in joint custody of Cat’s Cradle in Naija Province, things are turning up for the Nova Cat enclave within the Federation.  Though their numbers are small and they only have one manufacturing center, they are allowed to adhere to their clan ways.  Time will tell if the Nova Cats will rise again to glory.  If they do, it will take a lot of help from the Federation government.

Cat’s Cradle

Cat’s Cradle  is a jointly administered world between Clan Nova Cat refugees and the Elysian Federation.  It has been a rough start for the Nova Cats, who are still living in cities made of prefab shelters.  Cat’s Cradle is a breadbasket world with long open plains and a mountain range on either side of its one massive landmass.  There is one manufacturing facility on Cat’s Cradle that produces Arbalest Battlemechs for both the Nova Cats and the EDF.  In order to get their population growing, the old distinction between trueborn and freeborn has been tossed away.  Also living on Cat’s cradle are Soldiers and staff of the 832nd detachment who survived the Annihilation on Irece.  They have been made members of the clan by Star Colonel Brent, the planetary governor.  To keep their skills sharp, the few Nova cat mechwarriors and the ex-832nd soldiers compete in weekly battlesims which are the planet’s biggest form of entertainment, broadcast on the local trivid stations.

OBT's resident Nova Cat thanks you very much.

I like it

If you wanted an expansion I'm sure I could add a little

Really, as long as there is an unbroken line of people calling themselves "Clan Nova Cat," it doesn't really matter to me if they're still using Iron Wombs or not. They may be dead as a faction, but as a people they still exist. It's not uncommon in the real world, after all.

Here's a little extra if you feel like its usable please feel free

The Watch Cluster

Formed during the Jihad the unit was at the height of that conflict five Trinaries in strength fighting the Blakists on several places including Mars in the Sol system.  At the end of that conflict the unit disappeared after refusing to join the Republic with the other Nova Cat Galaxies.

The unit resurfaced during the Second Combine/Dominion War fighting on the worlds of Avon and Irece.  During the Nova Cats forced movement into cultural reservations the unit remained "off the books" of the Nova Cat Touman following orders directly from the Khan in covert operations.

One duty the Watch Cluster was ordered to complete was to garrison a periphery planet within the Outworlds Wastes on the other side of the Combine from all other Nova Cats.  There they were charged with protecting a reserve Genetic Repository for the Nova Cats which included genetic copies of every Nova Cat bloodname although it lacked facilities to produce further warriors.

Although the unit is named as a Cluster it has dwindled in numbers since the end of the Jihad with only two Trinaries of forces.  They do however have full transport capabilities and nearly one hundred civilians who have maintained the Genetic Repository.  When they heard of the end of the Nova Cats in the Combine the warriors were angry however with the surviving Elysium Republic's forces they chose to travel to join their brethren and hopefully spur the rebirth of the Clan.

Arriving on the Cat's Cradle the Watch Cluster has taken control over an area in the Barcella Mountains where they are slowly building a new Genetic Repository.  The Nova Cats are however ten years or more away from being able to begin a genetics program.

Unit TO&E
Commander - Star Colonel Canin Rosse - Canin has been a voice of discontent against the Combine for years but one that had fallen on deaf ears until the Nova Cat's Rebellion against the Draconis Combine.  Because of his disagreements with the Combine he found himself reassigned to the Watch Cluster with no chance of further promotion.

incorporate any of it you wish, the Watch Cluster is an idea I've been playing about with for more than a decade ;) the development of the Wight Dezgra kinda spurred it on even more!!  It's there to use or ignore.
