Example; Using the Empires Aflame map. I increase the zoom in the .pdf and I get the results that I want. In any other type of file - .jpeg, etc., it doesn't work - image is blurry especially with more zoom.

It all depends on the quality of the picture.
This can be guessed by its weight (the bigger, the better) or if you export from a pdf or another file by the pixels by inches you are using to define it.
In other words, the higher the resolution and the better you can zoom or you can make a bigger picture of it (which from a computer point of view is the same).

The best thing would be to export your pdf to a high quality picture.

If you extract the map page from the PDF andxsavr it as a .png, you won't lose resolution.
