I've just been looking at the maps and your internal boundaries to the FS in 3025 are wrong compared to the map in House Davion.
It's possible you did some straightening out for the Periphery March borders in the Kapteyn Universe, because its those PDZs that seem incorrect for which worlds fit into which region.
Milligan PDZ should include Broaddus, Greeley and Adrian while Point Barrow has grown at the expense of Remagen/Nunivak.
-
It is entierly possible. Can you give me a list of the errors

I'm looking at the maps Handbook Davion for 3025, and not seeing the issue for Remagen and Nunivak. Remagen should be in the same PDZ as El Dorado and New Avalon, which it is. Nunivak should be in the same one as Susulatna and Colorado, which it is.
The other part I'm with you on. Per that Handbook map as well, those three worlds should definitely be in the Milligan PDZ.
-
The Nunivak/Remagen was referring to the Combat Region names. The worlds of Neukirchen, Gurnazovo, Niquinohomo and Killarney should be in the same Combat Region as Nunivak but Blacknova has placed them in Malagrotta and Broken Wheel Combat Regions.
Similarly Greeley, Broaddus and Adrian should all be part of Milligan PDZ.
Cimeron should be in Dahar PDZ not Bryceland PDZ.
The rest of the Federated Suns looks okay.
-
I'll fix up 3025, and then clean it up for the War of 3039, but I'm not going back and fixing them all now, too much work for something most will miss.
-
The Nunivak/Remagen issue is a long running canon error that we at BTSD simply retconned them. Neither planet was within their Combat Region. They were not in the right areas to begin with so we simply fixed them in our own way. Threat Assessments will likely shine some light on the confusion.
-
I always figured it for a holdover of earlier layouts - perphaps pre-Davion Civil War boundaries had Remagen in that Combat Region and when the boundaries changed the name was kept. Similar to their being an Altair PDZ despite the lack of an Altair planet in the FedSuns.
(And the lack of a pre-DCW map in Handbook House Davion is one of my relatively few complaints about the book. I want an Era Report for the Age of War!)
-
The following quote would tend to support you as well.
"Once known as the Remagen Combat Region, the Nunivak CR was renamed as part of the internal reorganisatoin that followed the creation of the Federated Commonwealth. However, the region's militia retained its old name, fighting off several attempts to rename it during the 3040s. The most recent, in 3045, almost resulted in a mutiny, and pursuaded the AFFC to leave the unit alone." Field Manual: House Davion, p.117.
-
As a tease, here is an example of what I plan to do for the War of 3039, for unit locations and movement. It will make things alot slower to do, but be worth it I think. These are, of course, inspired by Oystein's maps in the recent Field Reports.
Ronin Wars are soon to go up, but will lack the unit detail I am currently attempting.
-
Looking real good Black. Nice stuff!
-
Agreed liking that looks nice and detailed
-
Looking forward to the war of 3039 maps. This surely looks promising.
Ciao

It took about 10 hours to get all of them in, still, I think it will add alot to the maps.
-
is there a map showing the inner sphere & near periphery borders pre ameris coup?
-
Not as yet, as the data for the Draconis Combine is not complete.
-
I was asking about this over on the Catalyst forum, but wanted to raise it here; does anyone here have any plans to try and work up a 3095 "master map", integrating the data on the four sectors of the Deep Periphery published in ISP3 into one single file?
-
um... SLOWLY working on it on my spare time. I've actually completed generating the coordinates of the deep periphery worlds, but I'm not done converting the coordinates of the inner sphere systems in the Lyran section. Only about 73.88% complete so far, which is the exact same state 57 days ago :(
-
We await your glorious efforts.
-
82.6377827334% done!
still have to transfer 477 sets of coordinates from the 2764 map (all from LC) and 68 from the 3063 maps that were previously in the error-filled 3130 map. If I'm able to dedicate around 5-10% a day then we should have mappable coordinates for the whole of known BT space (excluding nebulae) by middle of February, which is just perfect timing coz I'd have a business trip to Canada-US and Mexico and won't be able to put any effort into the coordinates during those two weeks.
-
Keep up the good work Volt.
-
You know what, I hate all of you and all your optimism and all your encouragement!
Okay, now that we have that out of the way, I give you 3139 sets of coordinates!
http://www.mediafire.com/Volt/Cartographer (http://www.mediafire.com/Volt/Cartographer)
Coordinates + Distances.xlsx = just the systems and their coordinates, with straight-line distance from a reference system
coordinates transfer.xlsx = sample of how I derived the convert the coordinates of the systems from a different scale/orientation to that of the base scale/orientation
factions.txt = faction color assignments for Bad_Syntax's cartographer app
planets.txt = the system names, coordinates and faction ownership per era for Bad_Syntax's cartographer app
systems by era.xlsx = this is the full file with system names, unified coordinates, faction ownership and regions, etc...
systems.xlsx = same as above but only shows faction ownership and whether a system is a capital, without showing the regions
The new sets of files all reflect the new [and corrected] coordinates [that 3130 map had some crazy errors], the new deep periphery systems, and a whole lot of corrections on faction ownership. Unfortunately some of those errors are reflected in BN's PDF maps. My bad.

Excellent work Gentlemen, you are scholars of the highest degree.
However in the opening post i see you say you have completed a 3072 map, but I cannot find it anywhere.
Additionally, Btfiles has a jpeg map of 3070, when the Blake protectorate was expanding, this should serve well for early jihad campaigns.
http://www.1.btfiles.z8.ru/maps/ISMap3070.jpg
once again. excellent work. most helpful.
-
Is that JPG an official map? I'd like to add that to my database soon as i get home.
-
Likely not an official map, but based on official data.
A lot of worlds changed hands between 3068 and 3070. However pouring through Blake ascending through Final rekoning to find the timeline of events is exhausting.
http://www.sarna.net/wiki/3068
And there is a good list of WoB protectorate worlds and their absorption dates here (but not complete).
http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Word_of_Blake_Protectorate
However i think there are errors. Van Diemen IV was supposed to be conquored by the Word in 3069, but in the jpeg its listed as FWL.
http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Van_Diemen_IV
Wasat was attacked in early '69 by the WoB 3rd Division but wasnt conquered until 3071 with the use of nuclear weapons. On the jpeg map its listed as a WoB protectorate planet.
What do you do when a planet is contested for 2 years?
And places like Acubens have no canon information as to when they changed hands.
-
I usually mark them "D" for disputed if more than one faction lays claim to them during that year (ie invasion). If it's just a raid i still count it as belonging to the defending faction.
-
Any help? Anything on that 3072 map?
-
Sorry, won't be able to check til the wife is done shopping. My problem is, i won't be able to lift the data verbatim, i'd have to look through sources to validate the map's content first, and that's what's gonna take a while.
-
Then I have to actually make it.
-
yup, that's how it's gonna be, I guess. Which sources do I look through to get data from 68 to 72? I just realized, if I did a 68 to 72, then I'd have to read through WoR all over again to do the Clan Homeworlds side, and that's one messy data gathering for a small 40-system colony. On the other hand, it would be nice to see something between '67 and '75 and between '75 and '79.
while we're at this topic, does anyone have a clear PDF map of 3075 from Blake Documents? I've been trying to get a hold of these two pages but I completely refuse to buy the PDF, because I don't like what it was proposing as a possible outcome for the Wolverines. I've already given my book away without completely reading through it.

This one?
Also, Sarna is pretty good for history on when planets change sides. The jihad info mostly comes from Total Chaos.
-
What the? Why do the planet circles disappear, rather why do the black borders of the planet circles diappear when i print this to pdf. hmm
-
actually I work with the group at Sarna that does the planet ownerships by region, but the work is far from complete, with so many sources left unchecked. I (and therefore we) might have the largest unofficial list of system ownership available right now.
the disappearing circles could either be a copy protection precaution or incorrect PDF printer settings? hehe
-
Cool. i'd like to fix a number of Sarna items but like wiki im worried people will revert it and have edit wars. so i just browse.
-
actually for as long as you cite your sources related to the edits then edit wars do not occur, they have a good moderating team, and a lot of the changes are discussed on the talk pages if there are any issues. sometimes they even post messages on user talk pages as long as you're registered.
I'm currently doing 3074 on faction ownership and I'd have to say that Final Reckoning is a great source, but yeah there are so many systems not mentioned. I might have to go through the earlier Jihad publications to get data on them. After that I'll work on WoR for the K-Cluster.
-
I think you will find the Clan Worlds too hard to accurately pin down.
-
Bjarred was won back by DCMS against Clan Nova cat when Star Colonel Olivia Drummond lost a coin toss against Tai-sa Katherine Oltion. Drummond chose "edge."
Hey, the task may not be easy, but imagine the benefit if we have that data. I don't think anyone has had the patience (or level of insanity) to track those. Should be fun.
-
yuck.... i just finished 3068-3080 from Final Reckoning, and there are SO many blanks that it's just not viable to make maps during that period, save for 3075, which is already published. This is why I hate the Jihad's sourcebook format, too many holes and factual errors due to fragmented data.

:(
There is quite a lack of information in WoR regarding when and what worlds fell.
-
yeah, i'm afraid i'm going to get the same results as what I got in JFR, but it won't hurt to try.
-
Thanks for all those great maps!
Just a note, you list a 3062 map but I see only a 3063 map on the board.
Also a 3072 map But I can't see a thread for it at all.
-
The changes from 3067 to 3072 would be the following:
1] Clan Hell's Horses entering the Inner Sphere
2] Clan Snow Raven claiming Quatre Belle and Dante
3] Transfer of several Falcon and Lyran worlds to the Wolves
4] Formation of Filtvelt Coalition
5] Transfer of several Lyran worlds to the FWL
6] Transfer of three Wolf worlds to the Bears
7] Absorption of the remaining FRR worlds into the Ghost Bear Dominion
8] Formation of the Kittery Prefecture
9] Expansion of WoB protectorate
Unfortunately, for #9 we don't exactly know all the worlds annexed by WoB by 3072 since the next time we have a map of their protectorate since 3067 is at 3075, and the timelines given were not very detailed (no info on 68 systems). So because of this, I don't think it's viable to generate a 3072 map from the existing data.

Speaking of both "canon" (at least in the sense of being published by CGL) and "AU" maps, are there any thoughts on what to do about the alt-3095 map outline included in the newly-posted Empires Aflame (http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/product/139331/BattleTech-Adventures-Empires-Aflame) file?

A detailed map for the Empires AU would be great.

I could whip something up pretty quick later today. Nothing like my normal maps, but I could georeference the map to the 2765 or 3025 maps.

Yes Please!
-
Here it is, rough and ugly.
-
Nice job Nova! You sure threw that together quick. ;)
-
Georeferencing is piss easy. You take the image and sit it behind the data, in this case the planets. You then choose four or more points on the image that correlate with the data and create links to each. ArcGIS stretches the image to fit.
From there, I could actually map the bugger properly, which would take a couple of hours, but I don't really have the time for that right now.
-
Thanks for the workup, Blacknova!
Interesting that the Terran Supremacy has expanded further to coreward than to rimward - going so far as to contest the Rasalhaguian worlds with the Dracs and Lyrans. (Ironically, one of those worlds under Terran control happens to be Tukayyid...)

However I cannot download or access online working versions of Maps of the Andurien Wars from 3036 to 3040. The files seem somehow corrupted. Is that solvable?

Hi!
This is a set of .bmp format maps to accompany my Victor Victorious Alternate Universe, which you can find at
