Computer Games 2012
« on: February 04, 2012, 08:41:58 AM »

Hey been awhile since anyone has posted in these parts but I wanted to talk upcoming video games that I'm certainly excited to see this year.

MLB 2012 The Show. Probably be the first one out in early March this series has become my favorite sports sim surpassing my bygone Madden fixation. I love the game play and the improvements made along with updated rosters are worth it for me. Besides it will be the only place where I think my Mets will when any games and contend for a pennant this year.

Armored Core 5. Up next also in March is a game I'm gonna try because of its Mecha style. Not sure what to expect from ACV but with Mechwarrior Online coming I jonesing for some big robot action.

Mechwarrior Online. This summer the first Mechwarrior game in a long time will finally be coming back to the video console. Now I would have preferred a straight up reboot of the olde series we all loved but gonna give this one a chance.

Starcraft II: Heart of the Swarm: Last but certainly not least is the highly anticipated sequel to SC2 Wings of Liberty. Love this Blizzard product only thing is will it be out this year?

Mass Effect 3. There's a few others I'm vaguely interested in, but this will pretty much own me for the next year or two.

Yeah Tactics reminds me a lot of MechCommander at first glance but we shall see. Not wild about the online gaming aspect though. Excited for the Mech video games (MW Online and MW Tactics) but I waffled back into the I'm not sure if I'll get them category.

Well, both will be F2P online models(think World of Tanks or League of legends) and the great thing about tactics, is it's turned based on 3d hexmaps.  I am really, REALLY loving that idea.  Like taking CBT and mixing in a little bit of Warmachine(players take turns as a whole, rather than unit initiative).  Could be VERY entertaining.  Worst comes to worse, though, try them out when they launch, get a feel for free.
