   Posing as Inner Sphere merchants the Nova Cat's Third Watch Cluster is able to enter Valentina's atmosphere.  Almost as soon as they do the DropShip transmits a mayday, the standard Overlord DropShip falls through the atmosphere rapidly disgorging the Third Watch Cluster which immediately goes to ground on the planet's surface.

   As the DCMS scramble to assist the downed Overlord the Watch Cluster waited in the shadows taking advantage of their stealth systems.  As soon as the Fifth District of Midway Regulars company was in position the “Dezgra” Nova Cat designs struck.  Lasers and missiles struck at the unsuspecting Combine Mechs disabling half in the first volley.  As the Midway warriors turned to engage the first group another struck from the opposite direction catching  them in a deadly crossfire.  Under heavy fire the Combine unit missed the Nighthawk Power Armour suits laying in wait for the right moment.  As a pair of the Midway SM1 Hovertanks passed Nighthawks jumped onto both units attacking the unsuspecting vehicles.  Rapidly the armour crew unable to fend off the multiple Power armour units surrender to the assault.

   With the initial company not answering communications the DCMS deploy further forces to the area.  Continuous assaults from the Binary of Exterminator Dezgras keep the DCMS force on edge as they struggle to track the Mechs which are continuously disappearing from sensors.  In the meantime the Nova Cats had loaded both captured SM1s and begun an orderly evacuation.  After less than two hours on the planet's surface the Nova Cat DropShip had taken off again and was escaping from the pursuing Combine forces.

   In space the Overlord outran the pursuing fighters rendezvousing with their JumpShip leaving the system before pursuit could catch up with them.  Jumping several times ensuring the Combine was not trying to track them down the Watch Cluster analyzed the Combine SM1 design.   Clearly based on the Nova Cat's original design this model dubbed Telos was armed with extended-range missiles effectively turning the design from a close quarters Tank Destroyer into a highly mobile missile platform, the Inner Sphere version of the SM1 did however lack the anti-infantry firepower of the Nova Cat design.  After transmitting their data to the Snow Ravens via the DropShip's on board HPG Star Colonel Sharon Rosse ordered a course set for Irece, a world on the other side of the Draconis Combine, but also the world which was the site of the plant this SM1 clone had been built.

   A series of nuclear and biological explosions rock the Clan Homeworlds of Paxon, Vinton, New Kent, Tranquil, Ironhold, Artreus and Barcella are all hit with Weapons of Mass Destruction causing widespread damage and millions of deaths.  Within days a second set of assaults virtually destroys Eden and Circe's fragile biosphere's as a genetic plague runs through both populations like a wild fire.  Clan scientists are unable to counter-attack the plague.  Within a week the entire population of both worlds were dead or dying, warrior, worker, scientist or merchant it didn't matter as everyone has fallen victim.  By order of Brett Andrews WarShips from multiple Clans were deployed to the worlds to set up a quarantine to ensure no-one left the two planets.  After three weeks in orbit of both planets it became clear that Clan scientists could not counter-act the plagues ilKhan Brett Andrews ordered the worlds cleaned of life and the plague.  Millions of Steel Viper, Wolf and Jade Falcon civilians are killed by the plague and orbital bombardment.  The repercussions of the loss of two Pentagon Worlds angers Clansmen everywhere but finding the culprits for releasing the plague eludes the Clans.

   The University of Thorin is completed by the Star League Protectorate.  Although construction work continues on some finishing touches and some more advanced facilities will take time before they are completed but basic SLDF courses and almost any civilian course were now available at the university.  The SLDF opened the facility initially to any member of the Star League Protectorate and of the Isle of Skye region of the Lyran Commonwealth. After initial courses begin and are successful the Star League announces that the second stage of courses will be open for all members of the Inner Sphere friendly to the Star League.

   For years Thorin has experienced great improvements, population increases and economic benefits of Star League funding and defence.  For the last six years the world has completely lacked LCAF defence forces instead relied on the SLDF, mainly due to the residence of Commanding-General Archer Christifori on the world, this in itself has almost made the world a Star League holding, following the University's opening Thorin's government makes this relationship permanent joining with the Star League Protectorate.  The Isle of Skye protest Thorin's choices but do not take any action against the world, at the same time Tharkad questions if the Star League Protectorate is truly in the best interest of the Succession States.

   Standing in front of the other Khans of the Clan Grand Council ilKhan Brett Andrews looked at them solemnly “My fellow Khans, we have recently suffered much.  The damage done to our worlds may never be repaired.”  He said recently arrived Clan Wolf Khan Nathan Fetladral sat up straighter his clan had lost many civilians and traders on Circe along with a small scientific outpost.  “It appears that the weapons used, and those who used them, originated in the Inner Sphere.”  He said angry, more than a couple of Clans equally looked annoyed.  “From the evidence gathered by Clan Steel Viper's Watch these weapons originated originally in the Federated Suns but were captured by the pirates of Tortuga in the early 31st Century.  These weapons were then transported to the Homeworlds along with several Bondsmen taken from Tortuga by Clan Nova Cat, who in turn used them against the other Clans to weaken them!”

   â€œFalse statements every single one!”  Khan Canin Rosse shouted raising to his feet in anger. “No warrior ever born on Tortuga has ever returned to the Homeworlds.”

   â€œThe evidence is conclusive” Brett Andrews said quickly suppressing a smirk.  “Clan Nova Cat in finding their own home damned the Clans that were left behind, much as the Ghost Bears did.”

   â€œI Declare a Trial of Refusal to refute these Claims!”  Canin Rosse declared he was confident he could defeat the Steel Viper ilKhan.

   â€œNeg, under the powers of the ilKhan, the ilKhan has the right to veto any Trial or vote.  I am invoking that right.  Instead you will
face a Trial of Abjuration.”

   â€œYou cannot be serious!”  Khan Nathan Fetladral now said his own anger boiling “we are the Khans of the Grand Council, we have not been given a vote.”

   â€œI am exercising War Time Powers of the ilKhan written by Nicholas Kerensky himself for just such a time that the Clan's very existence was threatened."

       "There are no such Powers!"  Nathan Fetladral shouted angrily his Clan held the Kerensky Bloodheritage for them not to be aware of such powers was ridiculous.   "There are such powers, powers I can show you.  Even now Clan worlds are threatened from within and without Khan Fetladral, I will decide what is the best course for our Clans.  Khan Rosse what forces will you choose for this Trial?”

   â€œTwo Galaxies and Three WarShips.”  Canin Rosse said staring down Brett Andrews.

   â€œI believe you only have one WarShip and a single Galaxy at hand Quineg?”

   â€œNeg, the Blood Oath and Vision Quest moved into orbit last night carrying our Tau Galaxy from Barcella.  The all knowing ilKhan who makes unilateral decisions for us all should have been aware of that.”  Canin Rosse taunted the Steel Viper ilKhan it was very fortunate that Tau Galaxy had finished its operations on Barcella ahead of schedule.  Now for the second phase of the Nova Cat plan... one the Nova Cats would have enacted if Brett Andrews had acted or not.

   â€œAnd your bid for this trial?”

   â€œTwo Galaxies and Three WarShips.”  Canin repeated

   â€œYou have no cut-down bid?  There is little honour in that Khan Rosse.”

   â€œThere is little honour in your actions either, ilKhan” Canin answered the title ilKhan used almost as if it were a slur.  “We have been judged and sentenced by one man, you it is against the principles of the Clans as a result, any force that approaches the Nova Cats will be classed as hostile.  You want I Trial?  I will give an honourless stavag like you total war.”  Canin Rosse declared “remember this day my fellow Khans, and remember where this destructive path started.  You turned on the Ghost Bears and now us who will be next?”  Canin demanded without waiting for a further answer turning on his heels he marched from the room, saKhan Ajax Drummond following.  Brett Andrews stood mouth open with surprise.

   â€œI would like to see this evidence.”  Nathan Fetladral demanded bringing the ilKhan's attention on the Wolf Khan.

   â€œYou will receive it.  My fellow Khans Clan Nova Cat ignores our tradition of a cut down bid.  Feel free to attack them at your leisure.”  Brett Andrews said almost with a throw away comment.

   â€œOur Leisure!?”  A horrified call came from the Coyote table “There should be a bid!”  Khan Salas Kufahl demanded.

   â€œOf course there should...” Brett Andrews began as the long deliberations between the remaining Khans began.  Khan Nathan Fetladral intentionally drawing out proceedings to ensure the Nova Cat Khans could return to their forces without interference.  The Inner Sphere Clans had agreed to defend each other the best they could, they had failed when the Ghost Bears and Snow Ravens had been driven out Nathan Fetladral intended on ensuring the Nova Cats had the best chance of defending themselves cutting down their opponents strength would help especially since now only Clan's Jade Falcon, Wolf and Hell's Horses remained of the “Invader” Clans.  The Sea Foxes and Snow Ravens technically remained part of the council but neither had territory or forces in the Homeworlds or had even bothered to attend today, Kerensky's Grand Council had fallen from grace the only question was how many Clans it took with it.

   â€œIt seems that the ilKhan has convinced at least some of the other Clans to support him.  We have forces of Clan Steel Viper, Fire Mandrill, Goliath Scorpion and surprisingly Coyote all approaching from various vectors.”  Ajax Drummond said as the senior Nova Cats of Delta Galaxy met with the Khan and saKhan.  Canin Rosse actually smiled shocking those around the table “my Khan between them they have five Galaxies of troops and we are surrounded.”

   â€œAff, we are and I believe there are WarShips moving in on our own as we speak also.”  Canin said his smile disappearing briefly “my fellow Nova Cats they appear to wish us dead.  This is not an abjuration but an attempt at annihilation.  They cannot defeat these nascent Burrocks on Priori or now on Hoard so they turn on us thinking we are weak.  Our listening post on Barcella confirmed that as soon as we left the Grand Council” he said looking to Ajax “elements of Clans Steel Viper, Cobra and Star Adder landed near our enclaves and seized them.  Unfortunately all they found were empty shells of buildings you people did a fantastic job Ajax.”

   â€œThey did as they were directed.” the saKhan answered

   â€œAnd now we find ourselves attacked by our fellow Clans again on trumped up charges Nathan Fetladral seems to have slowed their progress but now they arise against us.”  Canin said “however, there is an opening here.”  He said pointing towards Clan Coyote's forces “Salas Kufahl does not want us dead, but I do believe he sees the writing on the wall and believes if he does not join with the Snakes his Clan will be targeted next.  We will hit the Coyote lines I have a feeling that they will put up minimal resistance.  From there we will push through to Tau Galaxy and the DropShips which will be beginning landings soon.”

   â€œIt is horrific what they are doing here” Star Colonel Wrecken Rosse of the Fourth Nova Cat Guards Cluster stated, they break every rule the Clans ever held dear.  He said each of them had been shocked to hear of how the Grand Council had gone how Brett Andrews held complete control and completely ignored Clan tradition.

   â€œAff, they have fallen further than even the Inner Sphere”  Star Colonel Grayson said quietly, his Khan and father Canin Rosse simply nodded.  He was surprised that Brett Andrews had not discovered Grayson or Sonja's existence or there connection to him 'the Watch must have been doing their jobs well' he thought.  He also could not stop thinking that today he would enter combat for the first time with both of them, as both Sonja and Grayson had accompanied Delta Galaxy to the Homeworlds Grayson commanding the 450th Assault Cluster while Sonja fought as a Star Commander of the Fourth Nova Cat Guards Cluster.

   â€œIndeed the so called Invader Clans appear to have retained more honour than any of these dogs.”  Another said

   â€œHow much honour they have does not matter, how many BattleMechs and Elementals they have does.”  Ajax Drummond said “luckily we should have air superiority unless the WarShips have to divert.”  He commented

   â€œAff” Canin confirmed, “brief your units we will be ignoring Zellbrigen.  All units are to remain in close proximity to each other we will not be stopping.”  the Khan said all the others nodded moving away “Cameron remain.”  He said one of the officers remained “I have a special job for the Second Watch.”  He said because the Forty-fourth Nova Cat Cavaliers Cluster was still on New Avalon Canin had taken not only his own Watch Keshik Cluster but also the Second Watch, it's first deployment off  Tortuga since its formation.  The unit was full of Inner Sphere OmniMechs and BattleMechs and would completely throw off their enemy.

   â€œSir” Cameron said stopping as the others filed out “you think your unit is ready for an independent operation?”

   â€œAff, my Khan” Cameron confirmed

   â€œGood, this job is perfect for your unit but entails high risk.”

   â€œMy warriors are at the end of their careers, my Khan, we would relish a high risk operation.” 

   â€œYou do your Clan a great honour.”  Canin Rosse said Cameron nodded “this is what I want you to do.”

   The Nova Cat's Delta Galaxy marched from the Nova Cat enclave surrounding three large transport vehicles which contained all of the Nova Cat's Genetic Repository Data.  As the Nova Cats moved forward aerospace fighters strafed the Nova Cats before being engaged by the Nova Cat's own aerospace forces.  Heading directly towards the Clan Coyote forces the two Clans were soon heavily engaged in combat the Coyotes however were putting up very little resistance instead they were almost moving aside.  As Tau Galaxy moved in behind the Coyotes almost the entire Coyote line crumbled costing the Coyotes nearly an entire Cluster of warriors in a vicious exchange.  The Second Watch Cluster chose this moment to break off heading directly for the Clan Steel Viper force and ilKhan Brett Andrews.  Khan Canin Rosse's orders were simple – eliminate ilKhan Brett Andrews – it was a headhunter attack nothing more nothing less.  The ilKhan's Keshik stood deep in the Steel Viper lines but Canin knew that he'd feel threatened by the incoming Nova Cat Cluster fielding Inner Sphere designs upgraded with Clan technology, Brett Andrews couldn't look at those Mechs and know exactly what he was fighting.  As the Nova Cats pushed forward Khan Canin Rosse engaged Mech after Mech, beside him was his son and daughter as they held the centre of the Nova Cat's line.

   â€œKhan, it is time” Ajax Drummond transmitted his Huntsman OmniMech was off to the side of the Khan's Dragon Cat as they broke through the Coyote lines and began heading towards the grounded DropShips.

   â€œNeg, we can all get out of this.”  Canin Rosse replied the arrival of Tau Galaxy and the retreat of the Coyotes had given them an opening.

   â€œNot in time sir” Ajax said “by the time you load the transports and our forces we will be surrounded.”

   â€œThis is not your job it is mine.  I will command Tau Galaxy's charge.”

   â€œNegative!”  Ajax said already turning his Mech back towards the enemy “this is my job, my unit.”  He said heading back through the Nova Cat lines towards the massing Clans.  Clan Fire Mandrill  was the most organized and closest to the Nova Cats and Tau Galaxy was already in motion towards them.

   â€œWarriors of Tau Galaxy your efforts are an honour to our Clan.”  Canin Rosse transmitted as he saw the last of the Second Watch Cluster's Mechs fall in combat “your sacrifices will not be forgotten.”  He said as Delta Galaxy reached the DropShips.

   â€œSir, request permission to join Tau Galaxy.”  Grayson said turning his Blood Asp Assault OmniMech.

   â€œNeg” Canin denied as Tau Galaxy made contact with the Fire Mandrill's forces “you can however provide cover fire and be Delta Galaxy's rearguard.”  He said appeasing at least some of his wishes.  “Delta Galaxy begin loading operations.”  He ordered watching the battle unfold in front of them between Tau Galaxy and the Fire Mandrills as the Goliath Scorpions also moved into firing range.  Dozens of Fire Mandrills had fallen as had several Nova Cats of Tau Galaxy, with the Goliath Scorpions now also engaged in the fighting Tau Galaxy was under increasing amounts of fighting.

   Canin Rosse scanned the mounting enemies against Tau Galaxy seeing the ilKhan's Mech although damaged was still standing.  “ilKhan you bring great dishonour to the warriors you have commanded today.”

   â€œThere is no greater honour than victory.”  Brett Andrews replied

   â€œI hope we meet again some day.”  Canin said piloting his Mech aboard the DropShip.

   â€œYou could stay and fight.”

   â€œAnd you could end this trial.”

   â€œI do not make deals with traitors.”

   â€œNeither do I.”  Canin replied as the doors of the DropShip began to close.

   â€œThink about it Khan Rosse, the WarShip Perigrad Zalman is moving to engage the Nova Cat WarShips in orbit.  You will be consigning your forces to cold deaths in space if you take off.”  Brett Andrews taunted.  Canin Rosse shut off the communication system as he moved his Mech to its berth securing his OmniMech as the DropShip began to take off. Tau Galaxy was still fighting against the Goliath Scorpions and Fire Mandrills even as the DropShips began to lift off the surface the warriors of Tau Galaxy continued to fight and fall under enemy guns.

   As the Nova Cat DropShips rose from the surface word passed that Tau Galaxy's last stand had ended with the last Nova Cat Mech falling.  The Clans had their pound of flesh six dead clusters of Nova Cat's worth, Tau Galaxy had fallen but they had taken five Clusters with them.  In orbit the DropShips were met by the Severn Lervoux, an Anna Rosse-class Battle-cruiser, and two Aegis-class Heavy Cruisers, the Blood Oath and Vision Quest.  Akin to the battle on the surface however the other Clans were moving in from all sides.  Two Fire Mandrill Lola III-class Destroyers, the Rage and the Anger, were the closest vessels to the Nova Cats.

   As the WarShips and DropShips broke orbit the DropShips slipped behind the WarShips using their bulk as shields.  Between them the Naval Autocannons, Naval Lasers and Particle Cannons mounted on the three vessels ravaged the two smaller WarShips destroying the Anger and crippling the Rage.  Without stopping the Nova Cat flotilla continued forward however their bid to escape was blocked by the Perigrad Zalman, Clan Steel Viper's Leviathan Prime-class Battleship.

   The vessel all on itself outgunned the Nova Cats but the ship was supported by hundreds of fighters and DropShips.  Star Admiral Anders McKenna intentionally set a course past the forward section of the Leviathan trying to avoid its broadside at all costs at the same time he threw everything he had at the incoming Steel Viper vessel over one hundred Aerospace fighters and the firepower of all three WarShips.  The Perigrad Zalman soaked up everything it was thrown at it and returned fire the Blood Oath disappeared in a ball of flame as the Aegis-class vessel's armour was overwhelmed and penetrated by multiple weapons.  The Vision Quest and Severn Lervoux continued to fire on the Perigrad Zalman however as the massive vessel continued to close hope of victory or continued to fade.

   Fortunately luck seemed to favour the Nova Cats.  In their quest to bring the Perigrad Zalman's broadside on target the Steel Viper crew had not noticed the Leviathan Prime drifting within Strana Mechty's gravity well.  As the Nova Cats continued to accelerate into open space the Perigrad Zalman was forced to divert more of its thrust into escaping the planet's gravity giving the Nova Cat's a much needed lead over the massive Battleship which was scarred by by no means out of the fight.

   The Regulan Fiefs war with the Marik-Stewart Commonwealth turns into an all out conflict zone as the Oriente Protectorate joins the battle.  With Oriente Hussar Regiments land on the Regulan  worlds of Tiber and Avior while the Ducal Guards land on the independent world of Elektrougli absorbing it.  The Marik-Stewart Commonwealth continues to put the Regulan Fiefs under pressure landing forces on Harmony, at almost every turn line forces of the Regulan Fiefs have all but disappeared instead militia and mercenary forces are found and put up little fight.

   On the twenty-sixth the lack of Regulan forces becomes apparent as all six Regulan Hussar regiments are seen in action on the worlds of Norfolk, Newcastle and the important world of Wallis.  On Wallis defending the Ronin Incorporated plant the First Marik Militia and the Second Stewart Home Guard Regiments.  Against them the Second and Third Regulan Hussar Regiments supported by the WarShip RFS Titus Cameron-Jones and the RFS Lester Cameron-Jones, two Agamemnon-class Heavy Cruisers, battling across the world for three weeks the Regulans liberate the world.  While the Regulans threaten the former Free Worlds League's capital Atreus and the shipyards at Ionus with these attacks both the Marik-Stewart Commonwealth and the Oriente Protectorate threaten Regulus and with it the entire Regulan Fiefs.

   For all the Leviathan Prime's strengths acceleration was not one of them.  Even the Aegis-class Vision Quest was able to keep ahead of the ponderous Battleship during their eight day long burn to escape from Strana Mechty.

   As the Nova Cat approached the Nadir jump point the Severn Lervoux used its on-board HPG to call in the Clan's JumpShips which were waiting outside the system safe from there enemies.  As the transports jumped in so too did the WarShips King Viper and Viper's Legacy, both Sovetskii Soyuz-class Heavy Cruisers.  The Vision Quest moved into position between the two Steel Viper craft and the DropShips.  Supported by long range fire from the Severn Lervoux and from what remained of the aerospace fighters the Aegis-class vessel took capital missile strike after capital missile strike as the crew commanded by Star Commodore Arden Bravos intentionally moved their ship into the line of fire ensuring Delta Galaxy could escape.

   Once the ground forces had safely evacuated, Khan Canin Rosse included Star Admiral Anders McKenna ordered the Vision Quest to jump hoping to save the Heavy Cruiser.  The ship's K-F Drive fired and the ship vanished in a flash of light.  The Severn Lervoux, flagship of Clan Nova Cat, became the sole target of the Steel Viper's fire causing heavy damage to the Battle-cruiser before it too escaped the Strana Mechty system.  It was not a victory, they had not overturned the Trial of Abjuration, but then that had never been the plan.  Instead Clan Nova Cat would survive away from the Homeworlds as other Clans would.

   In the uncharted Periphery the Vision Quest made several jumps with Delta Galaxy and the Severn Lervoux before the damage caused to her hull became too much.  With superstructure cracks appearing all along the Heavy Cruiser's K-F Core and remaining hull plate the decision was taken to abandon the ship.  The Nova Cats salvaged what they could from the craft and evacuated the crew before leaving the hull to spin away into deep space, instead of wasting weapons on the craft they allowed it to drift away from any star and complete its final journey alone in the vasts of space.

   With the final victim of the Trial of Abjuration laid to rest the remains of Delta Galaxy and their last remaining WarShip escort continued on towards the Nova Cat's Den and their Clan's future.  Steel Viper forces attempted to track them down but the Nova Cats were long gone and the trouble in the homeworlds was only continuing to mount.

   â€œThey did what!”  Chancellor Naomi Centrella thundered staring at Hadji Doru who stood with two aides from the Maskirovka.
   â€œAs soon as the CCSS Highspire, CCSS Talon Zhan and CCSS Hadji Doru entered the Highspire system they were assaulted by aerospace fighters.”  Hadji Doru explained “Several of the aerospace fghters were carrying nuclear ordinance.  The Highspire was hit by three nuclear warheads.”

   â€œThat ship had its own anti-missile defences”

   â€œThey.... malfunctioned...”

   â€œMalfunctioned!”  Naomi screamed “sabotage?”

   â€œWe are investigating.”

   â€œInvestigate harder” the Chancellor demanded “I thought the use of the CCSS Highspire was supposed to be symbolic.”

   â€œIt was...” Hadji Doru confirmed the Tikonov-class Carrier was one of the ships the Capellans were truly proud of, the Confederation's small navy had only three such craft, now they were one less.  “There was one other thing...” Hadji Doru said quietly turning to one of his two aides turning he held a box.  “This was delivered for you from Highspire.”  Naomi's face turned from anger to fear “we have checked it for all known types of biological and chemical type of weapon it is clean.”

   â€œWhat about the unknown types?”

   â€œThen we are all already exposed.”  He pointed out Naomi nodded for him to bring it forward as he did he opened the box.  “Oh my...” Hadji exclaimed inside the box was a grown man's left hand cleanly severed from the arm just above the wrist.

   It was a stormy day on Thorin when Commanding-General Archer Christifori's door knocked “Enter” he called.  Moments later a man in his early fifties wearing an SLDF uniform entered.  On his uniform was a General's insignia and ComStar's tailed twin circle symbol.  “General McGillaray welcome to Thorin.”

   â€œThank you sir, it looks like the world is benefiting from Star League membership.”

   â€œYes, it has expanded much since the rebirth of the Star League.”

   â€œSir, can I ask am I being summoned by the Protector of the Star League or my Commanding-General?” McGillaray asked formally remaining at attention.

   â€œDoes it make a difference?”

   â€œPerhaps.  I wonder if as you are both if the lines have blurred slightly?”

   â€œBlurred, spit it out General.”  Archer snapped annoyed that McGillaray would challenge his integrity.

   â€œSir, since you assumed the dual positions of Protector and Commanding-General you have expanded the SLDF, increased the defences and brought further planets into the League.  This world included, the world of your birth has experienced the highest growth since the original Star League.”

   â€œI have simply continued to support the programs began by previous First Lords and moved to expand the Protectorate based on what the advisory Council has said.”

   â€œVery well, just be aware sir, just remember the man who tries to hold onto too many hats loses them all.”  Archer wasn't sure if Peter McGillaray had just threatened him or if it was as he said a reminder.

   â€œGeneral McGillaray, perhaps we can get down to our duties?”  McGillaray nodded “the Taurian Concordat has requested Star League Defence Force assistance.

   â€œSeriously?”  McGillaray asked the Taurian Concordat's history with the Star League Defence Force in both its original and reborn incarnations was checkered to say the least.

   â€œYes and I believe that your unit is the perfect one for the job.  To this date the First Royal ComGuard Regimental Brigade has never been deployed off of Terra I think it is high-time you got a chance to prove your units capabilities.”

   â€œSir, I'm unsure that my unit is best suited for such a duty.”

   â€œWhy?”  Archer asked wondering if the former ComStar Precentor would ever take the hint and accept he was talking to a superior.  Archer had no idea how ComStar ever functioned if their Division commanders questioned everything.

   â€œPerhaps you are unaware of the Tirpitz Affair in 2979 elements of the Avenging Angels, which my unit descends from, were involved in stopping a Black Lion-class Battle-cruiser from falling into the Taurians hands.”

   â€œI am aware of that event, however, your unit has changed a lot from those days General and has less of the Star League Defence Force trappings of other units.”  McGillaray gave him a slightly questioning look “you still wear the ComStar insignia on your uniform.  And your unit was involved in the battle of Tukayyid.  Since the Taurians have requested your assistance following a run in with Clan Nova Cat I think they will welcome your expertise?”

   â€œExpertise that is thirty years out of date.”

   â€œMore than many other units.  I will also be deploying the SLS Truce of Tukayyid with your unit General, they will fall under your command for the duration of the mission.  Any problems?”

   â€œNo sir, the Truce is a former ComStar vessel with a proven record.  She will be welcomed to our unit.”

   â€œGood, you leave for Taurian space immediately the Truce of Tukayyid will meet you at the jump point.  I've already communicated with Terra.  Your unit will rendezvous with you in Davion space.”

   â€œUnderstood sir we will do our best.” the General agreed saluting.

   â€œI'm sure you will, Good Hunting”  Archer said confidently returning McGillaray's salute.

   The fighting on Strana Mechty had subsided since the abjuration of Clan Wolf.  For the most part the peoples of the Clans had accepted that Clan Wolf was tainted beyond redemption and had continued to accept ilKhan Brett Andrews rule.  The Betrayal of Ideals continued to be broadcast occasionally however the Clan's had put together facts of their own that proved the Not-named Clan were at fault for their annihilation and that the Clan did not survive their final trial which many were willing to accept.

   With a quieter situation the Khans convened on Strana Mechty a new face sat at the Star Adder table a youthful man compared to the aged one of Stanislov N'Buta.  “And who have we here?”  ilKhan Brett Andrews asked looking at Star Adder table saKhan Dante Truscott remained and stood up.

   â€œilKhan, this is Clan Star Adder's new Khan, Hannibal Banabek” he said sitting back down as the younger man stood up.

   â€œMy fellow Khans, I regret to inform you that Stanislov N'Buta fell in battle against enemy forces on the world of Priori.”  He began “Stanislov N'Buta's actions helped Clan Star Adder secure large portions of Priori.  I can also confirm that the Prinz Eugen has been destroyed in combat with Star Adder and Cloud Cobra assault squadrons.”  He announced bringing smiles from around the table.  “We have also reformed our Gamma Galaxy and begun to activate two WarShips from an abandoned Wolf Cache.”

   â€œWithout permission of this Council” Khan Salas Kufahl pointed out.

   â€œA minor oversight I am sure this council would have authorized.”  ilKhan Brett Andrews said “the Star Adders are the Clans primary force in engaging enemy threats.  And I do not believe we need to hold up the new Star Adder Khan any longer.”  He said standing up moving from his position.  The other Khans moved out slowly Dante Truscott turned to his new Khan.

   â€œYou did not mention the fighting on Hoard is out of control or we have lost contact with Sheridan and there is fighting on Tathis.”

   â€œNo I did not, and neither will you or I will find a new saKhan.”  Hannible Banacek said coldly leading the saKhan from the room.
 
Duchy of Tamarind-Abby Expansion

   In response to the increase fighting between the various Free Worlds League states and the continued aggressive Regulan Fiefs the Duchy of Tamarind-Abby takes in thirteen worlds between their border and the Regulan Fiefs.  The vast majority of these worlds join the Duchy without issue however the worlds of Loongana and Tormentine resist the local militias fighting to keep the independence they had gained when the Free Worlds League broke up.  With these worlds in critical positions to block Tamarind expansion the First and Fourth Tamarind Militia Regiments were deployed to the worlds to put down these armed forces and bring them under Tamarind control.

   â€œGood evening ladies and gentlemen, this is Gabriel Caldwell, today we present an exclusive report on the Star League Protectorate's newest inhabitants.  Last year Major-General Bannister Cameron announced that a group named the Fidelis would be inhabiting Mopelia Island of New Earth.  The Fidelis were marooned in the periphery following a malfunction with their JumpShip during the Reunification War, the world they previously inhabited was becoming dangerous.  New Earth's Mopelia Island was a new start for these people and for New Earth.”  He said beside him an image of Mopelia Island floated “the Island of Mopelia had been allowed to languish since the chemical attack of 3076.  However since their arrival on New Earth the Lyran Commonwealth with the permission of the Star League Protectorate's government requested access to the Yankee Weapons Systems plant which has been abandoned on the Island.  The Excalibur BattleMech that was previously produced there would have been a welcome addition to the LCAF.  After a refusal for access the Lyrans have left the Island and the Fidelis alone.”  He said pausing as the image beside him changed to an Excalibur type BattleMech.  “Observations from beyond the SLDF exclusion zone show that the Yankee plant has not been touched by the Fidelis and is sill empty.”

   â€œSo far it appears the Fidelis want nothing to do with the outside world, they have asked for nothing from the rest of New Earth, from the Protectorate Government or from the Star League Defence Force.  At present they appear to be in the middle of a major construction effort on Mopelia Island what exactly they are building is anyone's guess as it does not appear ti be military in nature.

   The camera came up slowly to show Titus Cameron-Jones sitting behind the desk of the Prince of Regulus, his father's desk until last night.  Titus looked at the camera trying to keep the tears from his eyes, the people didn't need to see that, all he wanted was to cry.  “Ladies and Gentlemen of the Regulan Fiefs, of the greater Free Worlds League and the Inner Sphere beyond.  Today I bring you grave news last night my father Kirc Cameron-Jones passed away in his sleep, there was no pain, he left us peacefully as I believe he would want us to continue.”  He said pausing

   â€œAs a result as of this date the throne of Regulus no longer plans to contest rulership of a united Free Worlds League.  I do not wish to be known as a Captain-General of the Free Worlds League instead I am a Prince of Regulus, I require no more.  The Principality of Regulus will support a reformed Free Worlds League.”  He said looking into the camera “Regulus will be a force towards reunification I challenge the other leaders of the Free Worlds League to join me in this goal.”  He said and the video cut off.  Within days both the Marik-Stewart Commonwealth and Oriente Protectorate had agreed a peace fire with the reborn nation but neither was ready to declare they were ready for a reborn Free Worlds League.

   â€œIt is so nice to be on this world.”  Cameron Victor St Jamis-Liao said clasping his hands together behind his back.

   â€œSire, we should have gone to Sian, they attacked us we should have shown we have no fear.”  One of his Acolytes said quietly the man had bright red eyes but otherwise looked “challenged the Chancelor put a Liao back at the head of the Capellan Confederation.”  He said Cameron smiled

   â€œThe Attack on Highspire proved one thing we need to raise support, that takes time.”  He said Sian had been picked for a reason his Warrior House White Tiger had landed and engaged the First and Second St Ives Lancers in vicious combat.  The was the White Tiger's first blooding and he was very proud of what they had accomplished so far.

   â€œTheir WarShips are converging on our position, we have yet to breach the cities defences, if they are above us then they could bombard us and we cannot reply to that.”

   â€œThat will not happen.”  Cameron St Jamis-Liao said clasping the hilt of his broadsword.  “We press the attack, I want the St Ives Lancers destroyed.”  He ordered glancing upwards above in orbit the SIS Kai Allard-Liao, a Kai-class Destroyer, moved over Tian-tan opposite it the SIS St Ives, the St Ives Compact's newest Kai-class Destroyer also moved over the city.


         â€œInstruct the St Ives to hold back” Captain Elizabeth Thurston ordered watching the image of the SIS St Ives change position.

   â€œThey are ignoring our hails” the communications officer said moments before the SIS St Ives opened fire on the Kai Allard-Liao.  Naval gauss rifle, autocannon and laser fire tore into the Destroyer's forward and port armour of the sister Kai-class Destroyer.

   â€œReturn fire!”  Thurston ordered naval autocannon fire spat from the the Kai Allard-Liao, naval autocannon, laser and gauss rifle fire tore into the other ship.  The two ships continued to fire even as fighters and DropShips launched from both WarShips.

   As Cameron St Jamis-Liao moved his Awesome BattleMech carefully over the surface of St Ives another enemy BattleMech fell under his PPC fire.  He flexed his artificial left hand his original hand he had sacrificed for the cause.  “Sire, the sky!”  His communication system barked Cameron instantly swiveled his BattleMech to look into the air.  High above them twin flames burned through the atmosphere.

   â€œOur work is done, we have blooded the people of St Ives with our fists.”  He said blasting another enemy vessel to pieces.  “fall back to the DropShips, an orderly withdrawal, all vessels prepare to evacuate.”  He said blasting another Mech with his Particle cannons the Helios BattleMech continued to run under the fire but Cameron worried little about the Mech.  His White Tigers had preformed brilliantly between the two Regiments they were battling at least one combined had been destroyed while his own forces had lost perhaps a Battalion, easily replaced with help from their benefactors.

   Standing at the window Scientist General Rodney looked out at the Great Storm Diabolis which continued to ravage Twycross' desert surface despite Clan Sea Fox's best efforts to calm it.  “And the other Clans say the same Star Colonel?”

   â€œClans Wolf, Hell's Horse and Ghost Bear Watch Organizations have all confirmed similar findings to our own.”  The other man said quietly “findings with the Snow Ravens is worse... it appears they are on the verge of completely losing the Crow Bloodline much in the way Clan Ghost Bear lost the Tseng Bloodline there deaths like the bears range into the thousands.”

   â€œAnd the other Clans?”

   â€œThe Jade Falcons remain tight lipped about their losses however our intelligence suggests that they have sustained losses in at least the hundreds.  We have not yet communicated with the Nova Cats.”

   â€œDo the other Clans have any idea what is going on?  What is causing these losses?”

   â€œThe Ghost Bears have found something in their water supply on Thule, but they have yet been able to identify where it came from or how to combat it.”

   â€œThe same as us, we've identified something, but we can't figure it out or where it came from.  It is as bad as that damned storm.”  Rodney cursed “the only bright thing seems to be it only targets people with a certain genetic make-up and doesn't seem adaptable on its own.”  He mused quietly as the Star Colonel stood silently behind him.  “We cannot do this alone” Rodney said turning around to face the other man “Star Colonel, I need you to approach the other Scientist Generals of all the Inner Sphere and Periphery based Clans.”

   â€œShould we not inform the Khans, Quineg?”

   â€œNeg, if we do the Khans will hide there true losses to save face, admitting they are weak could invite a fight.  We cannot afford the delays the Khans' negotiations will take.  The question is can you contact the other Scientist Generals?”

   â€œAff, Wolf, Hell's Horses, Ghost Bear and Snow Raven will be easy their capitals are accessible and their scientists should be open to being approached.”  He replied “it will be the Jade Falcons and Nova Cats that will be the problem.  The Jade Falcons barely allow their scientists to breath without a warrior being present, while the Nova Cat's primary scientists enclaves are on New Barcella which is still hidden from us.”

   â€œThey have other settlements that we do have a location on, Quiaff?”  Rodney asked becoming annoyed the Star Colonel was a competent Watch operative but sometimes requiring a little too much direction.  “I believe one they are specifically setting up as a trade settlement, infiltrate that gain access to once of their scientists or engineers and pass the message, I want all the Clans to be there at once.”

   â€œYes, sir I will make sure they all receive the message.”  He said saluting before turning and leaving officially the Scientist General had no jurisdiction over any warrior, including those of the Watch, fortunately Rodney had been able to convince the Sea Fox Watch of the importance of this particular problem, and the potential solution.  If they were caught only time would tell if the various Clan Khans agreed with his decisions, the importance of their choices and if they allowed him to live.”

  How did the CC get agents onboard the SIS St Ives to fire on the SIS Kai Allard-Liao.   So Cameron St Jamis-Liao just can't leave the status quo alone.  Looks like he is setting himself up as the next Chancellor?    More please!
