Unit Profile: Special Naval Landing Force (First Yokosuka)

Unit Overview

Yokosuka Brigade (Special Naval Landing Force)

Named for a unit from the ancient Terran country of Japan the Brigade is officially known as the Special Naval Landing Force, more commonly known as the Yokosuka Brigade is unique in all of known humanity.  With the First Regiment raised in 3090 by the Draconis Combine Mustered Society a new weapon was born.  The First Yokosuka Regiment is composed solely of Land Air Mechs a trait not found in any other unit throughout the Inner Sphere.  With the Regiment permanently based on the DCS Draconis Rift the DCMS have an extremely mobile combat unit.

Following the success of the first operation of the First Yokosuka the Draconis Combine did several things.  Firstly they ordered all Kyushu-class Frigates off the front-lines and secondly they ordered more of these craft built.  Next they invested yet more money in LexaTech Industries and they bought yet more Shadow Hawk LAMs from Gilmour MilTech.  Lastly they ordered further Nekohono'o Assault DropShips all of which were scheduled to join this new Brigade.

The vast majority of the First Yokosuka is made up of Stinger LAM's supported by Shadow Hawk LAM units.  It is based off the Kyushu-class Frigate DCS Draconis Rift and is supported by Battle Armour forces based off the First Flaming Cat Squadron (four Nekohono'o Assault DropShips).

Given its combat abilities the Regiment was given its debut in November 3090 when the First Yokosuka faced off against forces of the Ghost Bear Dominion using the regiment's unique abilities the First Yokosuka were able to keep the Ghost Bears off guard and capture the world.

The unit is made up exclusively of Stinger LAMs and Shadow Hawk LAMs.  Following combat losses on Shimosuma the unit was reduced to two thirds its strength.

Battalion/Elite/Fanatical

The Battle Armour Battalion is based on the four Nekohono'o Assault DropShips assigned to the DCS Draconis Rift.

First Flaming Cat Squadron
DropShip Squadron (4)/Elite/Fanatical

Four Nekohono'o assigned to the DCS Draconis Rift.  The DropShip's on board Battle Armour forces more often are assigned to support ground operations while the DropShip's Aerospace Fighters are assigned to purely space-borne superiority operations.

DCS Draconis Rift (Kyushu-class Frigate)
The frigate is permanently assigned to the First Yokosuka Regiment - it is the only Draconis Combine Admiralty unit assigned to the DCMS Ground Force command.

Really, as long as there is an unbroken line of people calling themselves "Clan Nova Cat," it doesn't really matter to me if they're still using Iron Wombs or not. They may be dead as a faction, but as a people they still exist. It's not uncommon in the real world, after all.

Fear is our most powerful weapon and a Heavy Regiment of Von Rohrs Battlemech's is a very close second.-attributed to Kozo Von Rohrs
