Hmm, I see the pre-order for the Dead Tree at Battlecorps but not the PDF. Plus the New BattleTech for Sale Thread on the main forums has not been updated as of yet.

Downloaded it on lunch time at work. Obviously a different vision from BT Shattered Dawn but from my first look I have to say very nice job to all involved.

May I post what I saw of the AFFS armed forces post 1st SW?

We generally follow a rule similar to Sarna.net here of not posting info from a book until it is well past delivery in hard copy.  If you were doing a spoiler summary that does not repeat what is in the book verbartim, it should be OK.

i.e. AFFS is reduced to XX% strength of pre-war or some such.

yes Blacknova that is exactly what i am going to do.

143 starting reg pre 1st
- 35 destroyed reg over 6 yrs

128 remaining reg (if you can call some of them that)

66 Regiments below %50 unit strength with some near %10

Awesomely brutal book, fleet action was great. I wish there was room for them to detailed more both the battles more on the ground and in space.

I think the second war will be that step.

The First danced around the WarShip fleets and I beir manufacture

The Second War I think will be around the Mech producing worlds

Leading to what we know of the Third War which was Mad Max styled hand me down tech

I just got my print copy of the 2nd Succession War yesterday via Ebay. Tried Amazon before that and something happened in shipping although my friend got his copy on time without incident. So it is out there Wrangler. ;)

Ugh. My flag in New Hampshire USA, is really having serious problems bring stuff in. Three distrubtors don't know anything about it, but one that does claims it hasn't come out in print.

I swapped to all PDF it's not as good as a book in your hands but being able to take your library with you on a pen drive or let you Pc do the searching makes up for it also cuts out needing to go to shop

I have both, plus i want support my store so i have somewhere to go and play.

Distributors are so lean on money, they won't send stuff unless it has to be large volume being sold or they won't do it.

It is becoming a nightmare trying to get hold of physical copy in the UK, the other supplier I use supposedly had all the combat manuals and the two housebooks i'm missing available but when I ordered them a few months back they couldn't actually get them in, ended up buying a load of Team Yankee stuff instead.

I'm learning to rely on ebay now rather than amazon myself. Secondary providers there seem to be a little shaky too. Amazon itself was reliable until recently but it takes them forever to get the DTF. It does suck I know but what else are we going to do?

Is this another sign of problems with Catalyst Game Labs?  The actual books were suppose to have been shipped by ship from China.  Now they MIA? Wasn't there enough of them?

While my local store still gets new books in, they've been scaling back how much shelf-space is allocated to RPGs compared to board games and miniature game. Not sure if this reflects an overall trend.

Dead tree formats from CGL tend to be available many months after the PDFs. I got 1st Succession War around the time 2nd Succession War was available by pdf.

There was some interesting production data to be mined in SW1&2. Even after SW1 the manufacturing capacity of the SS was quite substantial.

FS - 7.5 regiment equivalents / year
CC - 6.5 regiment equivalents / year
DC - 7.5 regiment equivalents / year
FWL - 6.0 regiment equivalents / year
LC - 8.5 regiment equivalents / year

I didn't catch that CJvR. Can you tell me where you mined that data from, page and book? Thanks, much appreciation!

It is not stated outright but indirectly in the OoBs listing the SS militaries in SW1 & SW2.

You get the military at the start of SWII and subtract what was left at the end of SWI nine years earlier. Divide by nine for the annual figure.

Did anyone else pick up on the 3250 note at the start of 2SW and the full page into in TRO:SW?

3250? I don't see anything like that. The introduction of 2SW is dated 3150 in my copy.

Box, top right of the page from the Loremaster to the IlKhan where he explains that the document (3150) was from a century ago.

The whole introduction in TRO:SW is from the same Loremaster (full title Star League Loremaster) to the IlKhan explaining why the current generation of mechs are based on the included designs and that the original (low tech) versions are still in use in the arenas for the entertainment of the freeborn masses.

Huh. Good catch.

My understanding is that CGL were (and may still be) considering a soft reboot moving the setting up to 3250. Whether that would be a good idea I'm not sure, it would rest in the execution.

I'm somewhat surprised that the IlClan (and all the clans?) would move away from the omnimech concept but I guess its PR for the IS freeborn population.

They'll have OmniMech's I'll be shocked, and pretty annoyed, if that's something that ever disappears now

Maybe the IS Clans will only use standard mechs (maybe the new tech forces them to?) and the Home Clans will return with an all omni based force.

Me personally, I think they are just setting up a renewed Clan invasion scenario with the Homeworld Clans getting pissed at the Invaders who claim ilClan status. But hey that is me.

I have not purchased TRO: SW (either in PDF or DTF) and would love to know how useful you guys think it is.

Both Succession War Sourcebooks seem pretty good and comprehensive to me. Solid follow ons to the Year of the Star League products which while I have some problems with are a good homage to old school BattleTech.

I haven't bought it - other then the intro and 3 mechs it is all material from earlier TROs.  One of the new mechs (Flea) is in the preview on Drive-Thru and the intro was there on the original sample, but not the current one.  The Galahad was another one of the re-written mechs.

I've got it and think its handy (given the state of my older books), there are 3 new entries, the new intro, new artwork on several designs (some in the historical's and the the rest in the combat manuals?), going from memory I think some of the text in the other designs has been cleaned up as well.
