A sneaky sneek peek.

A Light quadvee



And an assault scale version.



The main change coming is that the assault will have tracks.

Weight and space is the main reason behind the lack of ATMs, you need at least 2 tons of ammo for the system to be useful, and then it becomes at least 3 crits taken up and so on.

Heavier quadvee's have the mass but its still a race for crits to fit them, and lighter quadvee's are a nightmare as you have less space and tonnage to work with because you NEED to use Endo or ferro or both and then you have no crit space.

And wheels make it worse, because for some unknowable reason, wheels are heavier than tracks in the B-tech universe, 10% heavier.  If the light had tracks, then you'd have 2 more tons to play with.  But because I like the look of the three wheeler (originally both were to have tracks) then thats what i'll go with :)

And looking at the light, I had to fatten it up to make it 40 tons so it can actually carry things.

But even this is still basically slow and undergunned.  Quadvees impose a LOT of penalties.

And RE ATM's yeah its just weight, lets take an ATM-6 as an outlier.  Thats 3.5 tons, you then add at least 2 tons of ammo to take some use of the weapons flexibility.  Or 3 for the full hog. Thats 6.5 tons and 6 crits that you basically can't afford to give up.

Thought so.

I like em, although I'd switch over to 5-packs - I've found more use for them, particularly with the indirect fire option, than SRMs.

heh, not enough Mech's for that :)

Oh and a wee update





In the image, the assault is deliberately squatting down, it would ride higher up normally like the light is, but it can also move in this squatted position to reduce its profile.


Any thoughts?

I think they'd both move mostly squatted down the light would have a very strange walk like that

...They ruled it was ok for a picture of the Tortoise II BA to have wheels*.  Take it from there.

*I saw that, and knew - Assault BA with a 5 ton trailer was going to make an appearance in my AU.
