If Kerensky was going to stay in the Inner Sphere, I don't think he would have surrender Terra to the ravages of the house lords. I doubt he would have managed to reestablish the star league, but I think he could have, and would have been able to hold the Terran Hegemony, especially if it kept to just the territory within one jump of Terra. What if Kerensky and Jerome Blake worked together to establish a sanctuary nation free of the ravages of the succession wars, centered on Terra?

Fair point, considering all the surplus Mechs CS managed to pilfer he likely wouldn't have left Earth and may have tried to set up his own system like CS. (whether that resulted in Earth being nuked is up for debate).
