again with the Dark Age questions ds9guy!
« on: April 21, 2014, 04:26:18 PM »

1.  Does anyone know why the early Dark Age is not being detailed in a print product?
2. Why is the DA TRO split into so many faction pdf's?

Thanks,

ds9guy

...*$*...?

It was the subject of a great deal of speculation; money grab or stoking the advertising furnace.  Or both.

*As an aside, it is not a welcome topic.

I had no idea it was a taboo subject.

We have a Field Manual, Era Report, Historical and a TRO in DTF and a host of products in PDF format with more to come including the IlClan Sourcebook. The Era Digest PDF does cover the early part of the Dark Age.

IF I recall correctly, it was never intended to put out a book version of the TRO. The faction PDFs were supposed to whole of it. Then, after much ado TPTB changed their minds an put a print version with a selection of designs from the PDFs with new notable pilot material for the Mechs. And Red Pins is right, it was an ugly scene over on the BT website.

not quite.  The way it was done splitting the TRO into so many faction based products was an experiment (from what I understand) that was brought about by the fact that the raw volume of new designs was so freaking huge in comparision.  every TRO since 3025 has gotten steadily bigger, and 3145 was going to be the point of rediculous.  Like large to the point of it would have been wiser to do TRO 3145 Volume 1 and 2 then a TRO supplement like 3085.

the plan was always to release a printed version of the TRO, BUT to hold back on an electronic Republic one.  That did not go over so well, to the point thatsome pretty heavy and poorly thought out accusations were flying at CGL.

The Early Dark Age materiel was almost completely Republic Centric, and in the end there was just not enough stuff there to justify a full book, similar to the Age of War or Golden Century.

here is the question I have...

with the Sub Factions, is thier listed military Strength TOTAL or is it nominal Battlemech Strength?

I feel stupid for having to ask but I feel in this case it could go either way.
