Clan Homeworlds Jump Distances
« on: April 16, 2015, 06:28:30 PM »

Hey guys,

Does anyone know, or is there a resource you could point me to that will state, the jump distances between the various Clan Homeworlds?
I'm working on a new Succession Wars board/map to use in a Wars of Reaving and, later, Operation: Klondike scenario and want to know which regions to connect.

Any help is much appreciated. :)

Cheers,
Jimmy

Would a table of worlds cross referenced to each other with X.Y do it for you?

You know there is something wrong with the FWL, when Word's spell check changes Impavido to Impetigo and Zechetinu to Secretion.

If I could use a formula to calculate the light years distance from the X,Y coordinates....then, yes! Thank you!

Square of X minus X times the square of Y minus Y gives you the distance squared between the two points.  Just take the square root of that.  Setting up that in excel is easy.

Yeah, sounds like a piece of cake. You'll send the coords via a ss?

OK, I'll extract it a bit later and send it across.  The other alternative is to grab the data yourself from Volt's information that my maps are built upon.

http://www.ourbattletech.com/forum/cartography-central/coordinates-and-faction-ownership/

I can grab just the homeworlds, or you can have the lot for future reference from his data.

Actually, Volt's info will do nicely, thanks.
I had that at one stage and used it to add a bunch of planets in for MekHQ. Sadly I had a drive misJump and it all disappeared. :(

It'll be good to have this back, thank you!

Hi Guys, if anyone's interested (and has the patience) I just uploaded a new distances matrix spreadsheet (~91MB) for all 3140 systems (the new one I discovered in HB:HK 2319 has been added). Link is in my Sarna.net User Page. No need for those pesky squares and roots, you just get the names, coordinates and the distances up to a yummy thousandths of a light-year decimal place (approximately 9.460528 billion kilometers). Must be opened using Excel 2007 or higher (or equivalent).
