Claw versus Retractable Blade

I am thinking about a 'Mech that could use one melee weapon and although I know which one would be the best for fluff reasons, I would like to know what you think of these two weapons.

claws do more damage, Retractable blades offer more options in the total rulse set.

Could just go all X-Men Wolverine style and have retractable claws....
