Clusters Destroyed in Clan Nova Cat Abjuration (3060)
« on: October 21, 2018, 01:00:15 AM »

Okay.  I need a Clan Nova Cat Cluster that was in the Homeworlds and/or Pentagon at the time of the Nova Cat Abjurement.  The Cluster should be one that was either destroyed or took such heavy casualties that it was disbanded.  I need the planet/system where this occurred as well.

Hope one of ya'll can help me out here.

I looked in my books and I couldn't find much.

I have identified 3 Galaxies in the Homeworlds:
- Kappa Galaxy (the only one with identified Clusters),
- Rho Provisional Galaxy,
- Upsilon Provisional Galaxy.

Kappa Galaxy was formed at least by the 4th Provisional Garrison Cluster, the 17th and the 49th. All of them were on Circe and Hoard. The three identified were on Hoard but unknown units were on Circe and managed to escape.

Rho Provisional Galaxy was on Bearclaw, Barcella and Brim. Only 3 Warriors escaped from Bearclaw and the units elsewhere took heavy damage.

Upsilon Provisional Galaxy was on Delios and Gatekeeper. The units on Gatekeeper were destroyed but those on Delios managed to escape.

If we look at the composition of Zeta Provisional Galaxy where the survivors were assigned. It has 4 units : the 37th Garrison Cluster, the 44th Garrison Cluster, the 67th Garrison Cluster and the 167th Garrison Cluster.
This last one was assigned to protect the supply lines in the Deep Periphery so they are not of our concern here.
The 37th was formed from the remains of Rho and was 3 Trinaries strong.
The 44th was formed from the remains of Kappa and was 2 Trinaries strong.
The 67th was formed from the remains of Upsilon and was 2 Trinaries strong.

Plus one on Ice's research especially in regard to FM ComStar. I could double check other Clan entries in FM Crusader and Warden Clans but not sure there is such a unit mentioned out there.

Here is my breakdown of Nova Cat possessions in the early 3050s. It is based upon canon references in Clans Warriors of Kerensky and the Field Manuals.

Quote
Homeworlds: 7 – Barcella [capital] (100%), Circe (27%), Bearclaw (20%), Brim (30%), Delios (20%), Gatekeeper (50%), Hoard (40%)

Okay.  Thanks.  Lets say that as the debate over the Annihilation/Aburation of Clan Nova Cat begins (remember, Clan Star Adder first pushed for complete Annihilation!), what if the Scorpions decide instead of fighting the Cats for territory or factories or civilians . . . to seek to Absorb one or two Clusters (maybe even all three!) located on Hoard?

Hoard is very close to Roche, after all.  And the Scorpions should certainly be able to send an HPG message while the debate is happening . . . which might mean they could be the first to get there.

However . . . would the Cat Garrison Clusters be willing to be absorbed?  According to the sources Ice posted above, they seemed not to even be aware that Annihilation/Abjuration was being debated . . . because the attacks that came later (from the Adders, Hellions, Horses, and Wolves) were completely out of the blue!

Would it be a "token" Trial or a full-blown hard-fought slugfest?

How would the other Clans react if the Scorpions did this and then turned around and made the former Cat Warriors Scorpion abtakha?  And used them to expand the Scorpion Touman?

Your thoughts?

Well the Rossei Cloister of the Cloud Cobra Clan always fascinated as a link between the Nova Cats but lets face it why don't the crazy visionaries of the Clans all get along. This was the basis for my Fourseers story which did get a little development but is nowhere near finished. Basically a Goliath Scorpion Seeker, Cloud Cobra Missionary, Nova Cat Mystic, and Coyote Spiritualist all have the same vision. So why couldn't that happen here for you?

The Rossei cloister left the Homeworlds en masse and went on to join the Nova cats. Just look for any Cluster that has the word 'Dragon' in it in the FM: Comstar book.
The following units are former Cloud Cobra unit

Rossei Keshik
Dragonscales Cluster
Dragonsfang Cluster

You will find that all of the Cluster Commanders correspond to officers that served on the Cloud cobra's Beta Galaxy in FM: Warden Clans

Also check this out http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Clan_Nova_Cat_Touman.

It has a whole section on fallen units of the Nova Cat touman. It's sarna.net, so accuracy may be an issue.

There was a lot of canon problems with the Nova Cats too much like the Smoke Jaguars perhaps worse. The Battle of Luthien and Battle of Tukayyid Sourcebooks have several egregious errors which give the wrong Khans and different units in cases.

For an unknown reason, the units on Hoard were not aware of the Abjuration and learned it after having already taken heavy damage.

How would the other Clans react if the Scorpions did this and then turned around and made the former Cat Warriors Scorpion abtakha?  And used them to expand the Scorpion Touman?

From how they fought, I would say not very well.
