They are very prime time viewing. Something more akin to Rome or Game of Thrones (though likely not to the same level of literary skill) would be a little more real.

Though I am a novel junkie. I found that the more the universe was flushed out the less interesting it became it lost its mystique, and as I was filled in by Takiro about where the canon universe went I find that I really am glad i stopped paying attention around 3058 in timeline canon.

Well being a just the facts kind of person and having written several I prefer sourcebooks to all else. Novels are good in the BattleTech sense cause you see the reasons behind things and what really happened. TROs are probably the most narrow scope you can find concentrating on the equipment of BattleTech. I like them but the writes are fairly limited.
