I'll take a guess and state that the 10th Avalon Hussars have a similar story to the 8th Lyran Guards and the Fifth Sian Dragoons: regiments destroyed during the Succession Wars that were reconstituted as part of the general military build-up of the Dark Age Era. The Dragoons were built in secret before Gray Monday, while the Guards were built after as the wars intensified. Given Prince Harrison's legitimate attempts to keep the size of the AFFS down before the Blackout, the Hussars most likely follow the Lyran example.
