one point shy- a Meta Game Discussion thread.

So even though we are almost 6 years removed from the release of  TechManual, I think this is a conversation worth having.  as we all know TM changed the rounding rules to a "When in doubt Round Down" rule that affected Ferro Fibrous armor.  this left a lot of canon designs with one point of armor mysteriously vanished.

the most common solution to this was to remove a point of armor from the rear center torso.  now this is perfectly legitimate, simple and I have no real problems with it.  what I wonder though is, could a few alternatives have been done instead?

the first that comes to mind for me is the Head.  most of us, myself incuded, automatically pump 9 points of armor into the head before we do anything else (unless the design is 25 tons or less, but that is a whole different discussion.)  it took the release of the Pariah, with its genius armor arraingment to show that 8 points to the head is not a bad thing.  You still need to commit at traditional headcapper for one shot kills. under such a plan. and in terms of fluff you would have a perfect story of "not as well armored as manufacters have predicted" developing a great inside joke.

anyway that is my initial thought for now, there are other arguments like the front center torso, or making sides uneven.  what do y'all think?

BattleTech products aren't Pokemon Cards. You don't have to catch, or collect them all.

WHAT NO ONE EVER TOLD ME THAT!
