BT has been strewn with Pop Culture reference from day one, despite the best efforts of TPTB.  What have been the ones that have most amused you in the course of your BT fandom?

Mine would have to be the Galactica THS/SLS Dreadnaught and its flight from the 12 Colonies Terra, from the Cylons Amaris Drones.

The other, and I can't remember which Jihad book it was in, was the piss take on the Star Wars Ep IV scene, where the Y wings cop it in the trench.  It was redone as Outworlds pilots under assault, but I can't seem to find it again.

You know there is something wrong with the FWL, when Word's spell check changes Impavido to Impetigo and Zechetinu to Secretion.

The original House Liao Sourcebook had the last stand of a pair of Capellan Mechwarriors which was ripped straight from the last scene of Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid.  It's a classic.

Damn. Roosterboy'd...I mean MadCapped. That's always been one of my favorites.

I'm also a sucker for the classics. The Reagan SDS.

Reagan SDS for the win.

My all time favorite.

I'll give close seconds to the Roy Batty references in one of the earlier Jihad books when the Manei Domini started redecorating some people. (Sorry I can't be more specific, I'd have to go digging for the exact book, probably JHS: 3070 or '72.)

I also like the planet called The Edge, with its capital city called Bono.

The SLS Admiral William.S.Preston and its sister ship the SLS Theodore Logan.

They really should have been deployed as part of the Wild Stallions Battle Group...missed opportunity there.

  p.96, Dawn of the Jihad.

The one that sticks in my mind at the moment is the fluff for the DRoST-IIa DropShip being so laden with Firefly material.  "Be with you for the rest of your life." "Because it's a deathtrap?"  And, of course, the unreliable Kapesen 28 engines in earlier models.  ;D

I can't remember which novel it was in but there is a conversation between Theodore Kurita and the head of the DCs propaganda ministry about his collection of historical propaganda artifacts.  His prize possession?  A stop watch used in the opening credits of a 20th century propaganda television show on Terra.  I remember reading that and thinking, "Ouch!  Somebody likes getting in the jabs where they can."

That was Close Quarters; the speaker was talking to Ninyu Kerai Indrahar, not Teddy K; and he did not characterise 60 Minutes as a propaganda show.  The stopwatch was from the first days of mass-media, which he celebrated as the first days of mass media manipulation.
Which is a fine job of hair-splitting, I know, but hey, that's what the Internet is for;D
