Hegemony Armed Forces
« on: November 24, 2013, 02:25:19 PM »

The Hegemony Armed Forces were merged as a whole into The Star League Defense Force as the Royal Divisions. Ian Cameron blundered by merging The whole of the H.A.F. into  the S.L.D.F. He should kept the bulk free to guard the Hegemony. Imagine what could of happened if there was a strong Hegemony Armed Force when The Fat Man had tried the Coup.

Well there is a little bit of misconception there. Even though the HAF was integrated into the SLDF the Royal Command kept the HAF apart somewhat. Royal units were wholly composed of Terran soldiers and were given the finest equipment.

True but when s*** hit the fan there  was not enough Royal/Hegemony Troops to stop it. Now if the High Command had skimmed off troops and secretly stationed them on worlds like Asta,Yorii or other planets. They could also of utilized the Milita's into an auxillary force.

You mean using the HAF as a reserve force? or a defensive one (freeing up the SLDF for offensive operations)?

Why not. You know the Houses ignored the Arms limitations so why not build up your own forces

So use 1st Army and those military districts close to Terra as the base for the Royal Commands, ensuring that they remain in, or close to the Hegemony?

Sounds good to me.  Not sure if Kerensky would have agreed though he could have certainly used the Royal Commands in the front lines and did in canon

Really, as long as there is an unbroken line of people calling themselves "Clan Nova Cat," it doesn't really matter to me if they're still using Iron Wombs or not. They may be dead as a faction, but as a people they still exist. It's not uncommon in the real world, after all.

the OP also needs to keep in mind that even in a situation where the HAF would have been separated from the SLDF, Stephan Amaris had a humongous influence on the Child First Lord (who granted was what, 19 at the time of the coup).  Kerensky HAD to obey the orders of his commander in chief, as would the Royal Command.  there was no bureaucratic method to ensure that the Hegemony was safe from an idiot Director General.

Amaris said devote all of the SLDF to the Periphery Uprisings, Cameron followed the Fat Mans advice cause there is no way Uncle Stephan would stab him in the back.  (instead he shot him in the face...)

I doubt that there is no way bureaucratic methods can't slow down or accelerate such a process.

Kerensky certianly drug his feet emptying the SLDF from the Hegemony, but in the end orders are orders.  the nature of Terran Hegemony Government pretty much made what the First Lord said law with no checks or balances against it.  look at how hard it was to get Jocasta Cameron in after her brothers madness.

When I was in the army if something needed to be done quickly slowly or not at all. The NCO's were the ones to do it.

Call it NCOs, bureaucrats... when the people down to the bottom have troubles with the orders, you can expect some serious delays.

Which is why the 'Secret Army' sat and waited...

muhc like how some fans say the Taurians "were play for fools" in the Jihad, we as players have the benefit of complete information, aka player knowlege, so we know that the Taurians in the Jihad, or the Star Leauge prior to the Coups are being played for fools.  that is what can be the most frustrating, because we see the moving parts and where things are going.  But Kerensky and Richard Cameron did not, and the rest of the Council could care less about Amaris' influence over the First Lord.

The BEST information Kerensky had was a discomfort with Amaris' influence, and a dislike of the man on a personal level.  you do not disobey the lawful orders of your commander in chief because you don't like his friend.

So True but the Royal Command had the secondary role of a "Shadow" High Command and they could of and should taken steps. No one trusted the Fatman who reminds of the Baron Vladimir Harkonnen of Dune fame.
