Help the Arbiter Part 1: Arcturan Guards
« on: July 29, 2014, 10:02:51 AM »

Hey boys and girls.  I have said before and am saying again, that I am dedicating the rest of my Miniatures life to the Lyran Commonwealth in every form I can find.  I now possess a full roster (or at least as full as I believe I can make it) of the LCAF across all times from the Dawn of the Battlemech to 3145. so I am turning to you guys to help me make a miniatures shopping list.

I find it only fitting that I am going to start this project with the Arcturan Guards.  the Elsie's first brigade will be my first brigade.  So here is what I am starting with

I have Six Lances that are described as "Star League Era" (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 9th, 15th) These lances need to fit the bill for that time period.  I will more heavily favor lances leaning towards the Age of War then the latter day Star Leauge and lances that minimize presence of the unseen in favor of other mechs of the period.  bonus points if it appears on the RATs for Era Digest: Age of War, Historical Reunification War, or Era Report 2765 for the LCAF.

The reason I am asking you to avoid the unseen is that I have already created six additional lances (10th, 14th, 16th, 18th, 21st, and 22nd) that will heavily use unseen mechs.

What kind of lances do you want?

All Battlemech, no more then two repeats and since I got six lances I want to see people run the whole series from a light Battle or probe lance to a balls to the wall heavy artillery lance.  Be creative.

on a side note I find it interesting that this got pinned.

Not really Lyran as the only tactics they know is their infamous steel wall with only Assault units (Heavy 'Mechs are in the reconnaissance units). :P

Oh, he's right.

The Lyrans were pioneers in the light 'Mech field. The iconic Commando, as an example. Five hundred years ago.

The Commando is not a light Mech, it is heavy infantry.

or the Wolfhound, Battle Hawk, Talon, Spector, Hollander, Dart, Stilletto, Razorback... list goes on but we have to focus.  Age of war/Star Leaugee era lances, who wants to help me make a shopping list?

that would be the Commando, Firestarter, Locust, Wasp, and occasional Mongoose and Panther.

To refresh here is the input I am looking for from fans

a Light, Medium and Heavy and Assault Lance

a Fire Support Lance with AA and LRM Capability

Some Sort of Command Lance that has a Regimental Command Mech, a Communications Mech, a Body Guard Mech and a Mech meant for Independant Reconnisance or Strategic Support (Firestarter, Mongoose, ostscout, or Sling for example)

Avoid Unseen though if you have to use them you may.

Bonus Points if your mech choices appear on the list on pp 11 of Era Digest age of war (no need to be strictly LC)

These reccomendations will help me put together a shopping list for miniatures.

Well you said no u-s but the T-Bolt is a mainstay in all Lyran units. At that time I think the Ostscout was a primary as-well. Aside from that: the Commando is their primary light mech. Of-course the Zeus wouldn't be as it hadn't come out yet. Actually, I don't think that a proper list or Tech readout has ever come out for that time frame. only the 2750 readout (and the 'first produced' dates listed per mech) but these don't list the proper variants for those mechs at that time - something along the lines of a 'Project Phoenix' TRO for the mechs of that era has always been needed but never produced - the SL book mentions some advanced SL equipment that was never printed (such as a SLDF Wolverine that fired a "headhunter" missile which took the head off another mech - presumably a guided version of the T-Bolt missile which tracks the Mechs transceiver and replaces the SRM-6). Even the mechs they do list in the 2750TRO are generally crap (by 3050 standards) they only have 2 (or sometimes 3) SL tech features and the rest are standard (so Endo & an A-P but with standard HS, WP etc...) I veiw these as a list of 'export' designs and the real SLDF versions (with full SL equipment) are still unpublished.
