Herb Beas Stepping down as Line Developer

as I stated directly to Mr. Beas, I am sorry to see him go, I see Herbs time as Line developer for Battletech as some of the brightest for the IP, bringing about a standard of quality light-years away from the FASA days of nearly everything being a great big joke or homage, and the FanPro Days of just struggling to keep things running.  The IP is certainly poorer without him at the helm.

I raise my Glass to Herb, the Lord of Nukes.

Well, I guess everyone has to go sometime.  Wish him well in whatever his new endeavors may be.

Haven't always liked his attitude or the way comments were put on forum but he's been a very solid influence for the francise I've enjoyed quite a bit of his writing and where he has led the story to date

I wish him all the best and hope just because he won't be in the hot seat he's still around

Really, as long as there is an unbroken line of people calling themselves "Clan Nova Cat," it doesn't really matter to me if they're still using Iron Wombs or not. They may be dead as a faction, but as a people they still exist. It's not uncommon in the real world, after all.

it all depends on whether or not Ben Rome wants to go full staff from his freelancer status, as the assistant line developer is typically first in line to at least be offered the Job.

Ken Horner (may want the job) and Jason Schmetzer (prolly won't want the job) would be the next most likely internal candidates.  after them it is a toss up for external candidates.

I would love to throw my own hat in the ring, but my background is in business and accounting, I have never developed a game system in my life, all I have is passion as a fan.

Blame the Fan BoyZ/Girlz and their piss-poor reactions to the way the BTVerse handled their fave factions for much of his 'bad' attitude (that and some of the stupid Qs he got). If I were to hazard a guess, they may be a small part of threason he's no longer around.

I can't disagree with anything you said

It's a shame(and strange) there seemed to be more interaction before Herb went the formal route with posts.  I'm not saying it was the wrong direction but it always seemed to me on the old forums the posts were "friendlier"

Some of the attitude the devs get is ridiculous but occasionally so are there answers

often times the response we get and how they are phrased are a direct result of how the public treats the developers, or other circumstances beyond the developers control.  one need only look at how apeshit the vocal minority went at the slightest tease of the post ilClan Battletech Era.  or how for that very brief period in 2009, it seemed like we got the unseen back in their entirety, only to have the Macross group taken away.

Whatever amount of galaxies I must slaughter to accomplish this, I'm on board. At this point, I'm pretty fully convinced that if the BT forums are howling in rage and gnashing teeth, that means the product is definitely worth buying.
