Yep legitimacy is in the eye of the beholder hands of the guy with the most guns, might make for some interesting fiction though, and the large swath of worlds the clans are taking is quite incredible.

not the most guns, but the most effective use of the guns they have.  Remember the fable about a German Envoy in WWII being sent to Switzerland.

Yes, I'm pulling a thread necromancy. But I'd like to avoid breaking my self-imposed posting ban from the BT forums, so as not to get a non self-imposed ban.

Seeing how many BT forumers say things like "Julian Davion and Danai Liao-Centrella are cute together!" or "I want to see a Julian/Danai marriage!" makes me very, very sad for the state of the fanbase. It also makes my rage meter top out, as well as slightly physically ill.

Yes, because the last Danai/Davion "relationship" was handled with such grace and care. WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU NITWITS?!

END RAGE RANT.

Because Julian did not assault danai? That was caleb.

Does not matter, the only woman for Jules is Callandre Kell

Was that unclear in the last post? I thought the last "relationship" bit was clear enough. It's just kind of creepy revisionism. "No, we don't want to talk about that storyline, but we'll gladly marry off the victim to another of the same clan!" It's also tied into the really odd mess of BT forumites and their constant need to see female characters solely in terms of "who should they marry?"

I dunno if that is the case in the majority of the fandom. Shippers happen in any fandom and should not be taken as majority opinion.

The view of a davion/ liao political marraige is certainly fascinating though, but look at what happened the last time.

Yeah, except shippers don't seem to universally default to heteronormative sexist attitudes. The forumites certainly seem to do so.

This is why my BattleTech hobby isn't tied, influenced or even bothered by other fans. I will rarely argue, and even if I do it's not because I care to change your opinion. I like the BattleTech game and universe first and foremost, everything or anyone else I enjoy interacting with is icing.

My personal philosophy (regarding idiots and haters in general) is: If you're a D-bag then you're a D-bag. Go be a D-bag doing and saying D-bag things while I go about my business. It won't bother me unless your D-bagness directly concerns, or is about me. I won't sweat the idiotic small stuff because these unwashed miscreants still live in their parents basement, and act in a manner that leads me to believe that they're really just the smartest kid with Downs Syndrome to ever grace the game, forum or universe.

I view these people with pity Dread. Their narrow-mindedness is sad, but not worth the personal angst and anger that can easily consume and ruin your love of BattleTech while they continue to happily go about their moronic business unaffected by your personal discomfort.

Fuck those clowns. Interact with non-D-bags and engage in the type of personal and online interactions that are both enjoyable and fulfilling.

As someone who tried and *hated* Clickytech, I'm happy to say that I'm really enjoying the Dark Age books out now. I got the Era Report back in July and was cheering at how cool it is to have the Dragoons working for Kurita again. :) I originally got into BT with TR:3025 and then the Atlas of the 4th Succession War, so I've always loved the Misery/ Death to Mercenaries story, and with ER 3145, we've truly come full circle.

I just got TR:3145 this past week and I'm liking that as well. I've always been a sucker for the various TR's, and I was squeeing at the Atlas III and Stalker II. I'm just waiting for the print Field Manual and for some minis.

So far, the story of the Dark Age is interesting, and I can't wait to see what happens. Besides the Dragoons thing i mentioned, I'm especially intrigued by Yori Kurita. Something about her suggests to me that the Gunji no Kanrei's little Pawn might just make herself a *real* Queen. Maybe I'll tell the story that way, just for myself. :)

"Shippers" need shot with mass drivers... No take that back shot through mass drivers so they are as far away from me as possible

Really, as long as there is an unbroken line of people calling themselves "Clan Nova Cat," it doesn't really matter to me if they're still using Iron Wombs or not. They may be dead as a faction, but as a people they still exist. It's not uncommon in the real world, after all.

I doubt that Yori will toss off the Kanrei, simply because I don't believe CGL can ever afford to let the Dragon be truly effective and blessed with solid leadership.  ;)

I concur on the whole state of mercenaries in 3145. That section of FM: 3145 made me shout for joy. I'm incredibly happy to see the era of the infallible, white hat, way oversized pet units go bye-bye. That's one of the things the Jihad storyline did well: change the paradigm among the mercs. That's been needed for a long time.

it did however turn the Kell Hounds into scrappy underdogs again... WHICH I LOVE!

I do not understand the anxiety people have regarding the Lyrans and Feddies.  sure things are bad but only through adversity can we have characters, and yes the houses and clans are characters in their own right, grow and evovle.

Funny, I totally looked at that from the glass is half full perspective. "The Kell Hounds got orbitally ROFLstomped! YAY! AGAIN!"
