I need some opinions and comments on some fiction.
« on: November 21, 2016, 11:33:15 PM »

Ok, guys, I'm writing a story set in my AU on the official forum and I've gotten a lot of views so far, but the only comment I've gotten is that, "you're writing isn't bad".

If people with some experience (and skill) could look at it and offer some comments or suggestions I'd appreciate it.  Here's the link;

I will take a look at it.

I find the mix between "guides" or sidenotes and the main text difficult to follow.

I also have questions regarding why Clan Wolverine kept the Clan way even if they left before everything was settled and were considered the most progressive of the Clans.

I think the first part would be better written as a chronological reminder at the beginning of your writings.
And a small explanation/map of the different planets/solar systems would be a welcomed addition.

Last for now, are there that much people going into exile in the Deep Periphery in this area?

Hm.  Is that the font, or the scene/info/scene/info style of writing?  Perhaps I could have introduced a junior character, whose job it was to have things explained for him/her?

I also have questions regarding why Clan Wolverine kept the Clan way even if they left before everything was settled and were considered the most progressive of the Clans.

They spent 20 years training as a base-5 military unit?  I never went into it because it seemed too much backstory.  Would more backstory have helped?  I tried to cram enough into the 'prologue' to give a basic understanding and left it at that.

I don't quite understand the first line, but I have a map I could add of the Legacy Cluster.

And yes, the waves of immigration during the Succession Wars offered an influx of educated and non-educated immigrants that allowed the smaller remnant of Clan Wolverine a chance to stay within shouting distance of the remaining Clan's birthrates.  Without immigration and the 'Prometheus Database', I couldn't come up with a way a smaller, weaker group would have a chance to fight Kerensky's Clans and be more than a speed bump.

But what do you think of the fight scene so far?  Up next is a shift to Brun's POV, listening to the announcer as Leslie tries to DFA from the second floor and both units are knocked out of the fight.  But this will be the last of Travis for now, Brun will get peripherally involved with Merchant stuff.

I think that it does not stand clearly enough that they come from a guide/a book/an interview... Perhaps you should write it afterwards.

I didn't mean the military system only but the whole society/organisation of the Clan.

My first line was meant to mean that your prologue could be turned into a chronology with the year and the event.

I had troubles at first when I read your fight because of the point of view from the car but then it went smoothly.
