if an Arrow IV is Fired into the woods?
« on: November 04, 2012, 11:51:38 PM »

I just thought of an interesting scenario that is worthy of some pondering.

a Yellow Jacket Arrow IV  and a Sprint are in the same relative area (read same mapsheet)  is it feasable for the Yellow Jacket to fire an Arrow IV homing Missile at the same time the sprint takes off at flank speed, and the sprint is ablte to TAG a target for said homing missile in time?

my gut instinct is no since the Artillery fligth time for 1-8 maps is 1 turn... BUT in the best possible circumstances... with a 20 hex flank speed, and a 15 hex TAG range... it might be possible out to as much as 3 mapsheets?  am I off kilter here?

in true mythbuster style we are rating confirmed (Capable using Total Warfare Rules Artillery aside), plausible (defined as NEEDING boxcars even under the best circumstances, using all rules) and Busted (any one die roll requiring a 13).

My instinct would say no as you have to spot before you fire.

But this is my instinct.

my recollection of the rules is that a target has to be tagged before the artillery phase of the turn that the homing missile lands on.

This has probably already been answered somewhere.  ;)
