I was reading once more the description of a LCT and what hit me is that with a few changes I thought it could be suited to represent a bigger Militia unit with some punch.

What do you think?

Been thinking a lot of Planetary Militias and Coast (Orbital) Guards lately. One of the driving reasons behind the LCT is creating a more mobile unit. Militias which don't typically have a battalion of Mechs unless they are a large i.e. important world are by BattleTech definition static. They don't leave their world hence no reason for mobility.

That is true in my au the militia's usually have the most is a company of mechs. Important worlds usually have a battalion of mechs with a company of light/medium mechs for recon. All militias in my au must have regular status green is not acceptable unless it is a newly colonized planet. The house militaries send roving commands to keep themselves and the militia's at the ready.

Militia can still be mobile on planet by the use of indienous and organic transport assets.  Mobility is a major force multiplier and something a smart militia would not do without, as they need everything they can get.

SLDF Brigades were 3 Mech 1 Infantry for a Mech unit and 3 Infantry 1 Mech for the Infantry IIRC
Not quite.

SLDF Divisions had 3 line brigades of 3 regiments each. 'Mech Divisions had 2 'Mech and 1 Infantry, Infantry Divisions had 1 'Mech and 2 Infantry. Each brigade had 3 regiments of that type.

However a brigade was not usually a deployment unit, it was an administrative one. Typically if a force smaller than a brigade was needed, a composite force mixing 'Mechs, Infantry and other arms was formed for the purpose.

Really, as long as there is an unbroken line of people calling themselves "Clan Nova Cat," it doesn't really matter to me if they're still using Iron Wombs or not. They may be dead as a faction, but as a people they still exist. It's not uncommon in the real world, after all.

That is true in my au the militia's usually have the most is a company of mechs.

I was on the high scale of thing and this was meant for the big intervention unit.
I might rescale things down a little.

What worries me is Fasanomics applied to militias... A world with almost the same population as we have but that only has 1% of the units we have (I know we are not united but still).

which is why one of the great big developer fiat handwaves being considered is that after several Pan Galactic Census in the aftermath of the Jihad, we discover Galactic Population is around 1/10th of what it was because no one was properly recording deaths.

let me rephrase.  this has been a hypothetical development mentioned by the Line Developer in several battle chats.  it may show up in a future product to accomodate the population disparaty between civilian and military.

Ah, that is quite a Bookkeeping error. I think u would need something more plausible then we forgot to update them numbers for a few centuries boss. It could be dealt with in the Dark Ages. Perhaps a new plague in combination with the Jihad. Don't want to get to far off topic here.

then again, the idea of such a book keeping error being a side effect of the succession wars, and tax revenues being low on a per person basis (average) means that coming up short per planet is not uncommon
