As the title says I would like to ask everyone on this forum of his/her favorite unit from TRO: 3085 and why you like said unit.

The reason(s) why you like a unit from TRO: 3085 much better than the others is irrelevant. If there is a unit you took a special liking to ....post it along with the reasons why, no matter if it is because you like the artwork or because you are drawn to it because of the fluff or whether it is another reason.

Here are mine:
- the Gürteltier MBT(An assault-weight MBT. 'Nough said)
- the Ironhold Assault Battle Armor(because of the art and because it uses AP Gauss Rifles)
- the Karhu(an OmniMech with Configurations that I like and an interesting background story)
- the Hellstar(because of my experiences playing with it in Mechwarrior tabletop games)
- both the Wusun and Ostrogoth Omnifighters(because I like the art and their [weapons] configurations)

Honorable mentions go to the Tonbo Superheavy Transport and the Zugvogel Omni Support Aircraft because of the possibilities these units offer.

Ciao

P.S.: I accidentally posted while still editing my post(silly me! :-[), so I "modified" this post a fewminutes later.

I like the Hellstar... but the Sphinx is just such an awesome design that it has my king spot.

Edit: came across the Blade in one of the DA novels and happened across in 3085 Supplemental. I have to admit that it's a very nice light cavalry design, now that I gave it a shot.

One of my favorites from TRO:3085 is the Mjolnir for the light mech section for the heavy mech Flamberge. The medium mech is the Griffin llC

Definitely not the Hellstar or anything out of the Phoenix section. All of those 'Mechs need to go away very rapidly.

I'm a fan of the Targe, for what it represents. I also dig the Blade, Shockwave, and Osprey quite a bit. Absolute favorite though? Probably the Marksman or the Winston.

CRD-8L Crusader.  That thing really brings the FIRE.  There's a slew of really great designs in TRO: 3085, though. It's hard to pick just a few.

Mechs from TRO 3085/s

Light Sphere- Mjolnir- Something about the Light Mech that hauls a Mace, sure it has a TSM problem but a friendly unit equipped with a clan Plasma Cannon can solve that

Medium Sphere- Fennec providing the Inner Sphere what it always needed, a Medium Weight C3 Master unit, it fits very well with the AFFS docterine as well focusing on medium and light weight designs

Heavy Sphere- Mangonel probably the furthest thing from a perfect design you can get, it has character thanks to it's origins and capabilities

Assault Sphere- Atlas sure sure it is the Dark Age model, but it is near perfection in terms of capability and provides a pleasing visual aesthetic for me.

Light Clan- Parash it does not look impressive but if there was any "Rifleman" style machine, it is this.

Medium Clan Dasher II I love the story of a Mech built specifically to fund research for it's own upgrade

Heavy Clan Karhu I  love the configurations, and it is far more capable then the Loki, filling in the 65 ton class the clans until now were never good at.

Assault Clan- Deimos Omnimech Great configurations, it looks awesome and it's snow raven origins makes it unique.

Battlearmor- the Ironhold Firte Support- that is 50-100 AP gauss Rifles per star pointed in a sigle direction.

Aeorspace- Morgenstern a great assault fighter and buddy to the Eisenstrum.

Vehicle- VV1 Ranger  Infantry a problem?  not anymore!

Infantry - Lyran Heavy Urban Response Team Probably the most awesome infantry unit in the section

For me it would be (from the TRO)

Bola Stealth Tank redesigned with no C3i but still nice

Raptor II 3X model - invisible Mech anyone?

Prefect - completely independent heavy fast moving, perfect raider

Interdictor Pocket WarShip - it just looks sweet

Joust BE700 - I'm a Nova Cat fan and nice upgrade on the original Joust (which is mentioned as the trade version)

Karhu - it's an OmniMech in a time where Omni's are becoming a lot more scarce and a Clan Mech with canon configurations that have physical weapons

Onager - 90 tonner, massive HAG, Jump 150 metres plenty pulse lasers and crit seeking SRMs.

From the Supplemental

Manta and Moray - Subs that don't suck

Cuirass - and AFFS Mech with a Sword

Thunderbird - awesome text behind how it was developed and errata from TacOps giving it very nice options for carrying the new Battle Armour Autocannon

With additional mention to all the support units that really flush out the options available.

Really, as long as there is an unbroken line of people calling themselves "Clan Nova Cat," it doesn't really matter to me if they're still using Iron Wombs or not. They may be dead as a faction, but as a people they still exist. It's not uncommon in the real world, after all.

Dragon Cat brings up a good point for me, TRO 3085 was just so much win, where it not for the fact that TRO 3075 melted my face a year earlier I would have said ti was the most face melting TRO in ages. (Brent Evans work in 3050 U was the best before those)

Oh, that reminds me of a great unit: the Kopis Battle Armor!  A squad of them is like an Ontos that can go inside a hardened building and fire from the third floor!
